CH 13: DEVILS AND ANGELS (1)

"*huff*... *huff*.... *huff*

Azrael now stood in what looked like a hallway of a castle.

His legs were shaking like crazy and he was sweating like a pig.

Even now, he could still see that horrifying battlefield. It was truly a vision of a nightmare.

'Just what kind of shitty gift did my father give me?'

He had to give his all to not to vomit his guts out. Right now, he felt like he had no strength left. He wanted to simply slump down and close his eyes shut. But,

'I will never act in such an unseemly way.'

He gathered power in his leg, and began to walk. Each step becoming easier and easier as time pass.

'I can cry and scream as much as I want once it's over. But right here right now? NEVER.'

One didn't have to be a genius to know that it was the spirit of the weapon that showed him those images. Most likely it was a test of some sort. How could he allow himself to look weak in front of what would be his future weapon?

'I swear that if this ball isn't worth it, I will snap!!!'

Those distracting thoughts allowed him to regain more and more of his composure.

The more he walked, the more a feeling of incongruity was growing in his heart.

This hallway was weird. As if misshaped.

As he walked, he could see that the world around seemed to be different after each step. on the wall, diverse scenes could be seen painted.

At first, All of them were about large scales battle where hundreds or even thousands of people would fight and kill each other.

Then, the painting shifted and began to show people dying because of disease. The pictures were extremely lifelike. One could even feel, the pain and the despair of the afflicted.

After a while, another shift occurred, showing people dying because of suicide from hanging to harakiri. Then a shift, then another, again and again.

It didn't take long for Azrael to understand something. All those paintings had one thing in common, and that was....Death.

It should have been really unnerving. But, weirdly, he felt nothing. No, he felt a faint throbbing. As if something that was long lost came back.

-----

While Azrael was trying to obtain his weapon.

Somewhere, Kuoh town a little far from the house of the Shidou family, a man was walking quietly as he stood in the front of the ruins of a castle.

He was a bewitchingly beautiful and attractive young man appearing in his early twenties, with light blue eyes and green hair that were slicked back. He had a mysterious aura which made him even more dangerous.

Right now though, this man was silent. In his eyes, melancholy and regret could be seen warring as he gazed at those ruins. He then he simply sighed and murmured,

"This poor child was erased by my fault. Everything happened because of those damn pieces and those old bastards."

He clenched his fist in silent anger. How he wished that he wasn't bound by a feeling of responsibility. If he wasn't, he would simply attack and kill them all. Those old beings had no use in staying alive and were nothing more than a cancer for their society.

This situation once again proved how far they were willing to go. Even though he didn't have a close relationship with her, he couldn't help but blame himself.

It was then that, he felt a dangerous sensation on his back,

"What?"

He was astonished. While he wasn't the strongest being in the world, he was still a being that reached the very peak. How could someone or something make him feel startled?

He tried to increase his perception but,

*Swossh*

A large pillar of golden light fell from the sky before striking not far from his direction.

*BOOM*

He looked at the direction where the light fell. Nothing happened there. In fact, despite the loud explosion, there wasn't even a slight damage. Still he could understand what this means. It wasn't an attack. Simply a warning.

He looked up at the sky before smiling. Then he stopped paying attention to that weird pressure.

Even though he was very curious, he wasn't a warmonger, and as such he held no interest in provoking and fighting the one who sent that pillar of light.

This decision was furthered by the identity of the one who warned him off. He could easily recognize this energy.

'What is an angel of his rank doing here? What is his relationship with that weird pressure?'

Sadly it seemed like his curiosity wouldn't be sated.

Meanwhile, two people stood in the air above the Shidou mansion. One of them still had light gathered in his had before it slowly dimmed down. The most striking feature of those two being apart from the fact that they were floating hundreds of meters above in the air, were their wings.

The two of them had six pairs of wings growing from their back. Making for a total of 12 wings each.
