Chapter 6: Day 4 - Best meal ever!

Chapter 6: Day 4 - Best meal ever!

Another day another dollar. Except i'm not making any money. Another day.. another challenge to staying alive?

So yesterday after getting some practice in and successfully identifying myself, I attempted to find more targets to obliviate with my awesomeness and then .. eat.

Unfortunately for me everything that I identified would view me as the snack and not the other way around. However today that was going to change!

I swim out from my hole in anticipation of something yummy to eat, always mindful that I was probably one of the weakest creatures in terms of level. Although I'm a Seal who is supposedly great at hunting penguins, crusteacian and fish I just can't seem to find anything that want's to "Get on my levelll".

So today i'm going to take a greater risk and venture further out from my safe haven in the hopes of finding something to kill. In all my time so far, I have noticed not a single non-Pokémon creature. No sardines, no whiting... nothing.

I feel like i'm getting better at Swimming and am finally able to swim in a direction that I actually want to go. My speed however is still pretty bad without the use of PROPEL.

I know this for a fact, as when I view other Pokémon swimming around without the use of any apparent skills, they move at a far faster pace.

After around 10 minutes of swimming past my "safe zone" I encounter my first potential target. Or should I say targets.

Only problem... the plural. I can see a school of LVL1 wishiwashi, however I know from the games that a large enough school can be deadly and transform into a mutated mass of fish. Something I'm pretty sure i'd be stomped by in seconds.

I think of various options to split a fish off from the group. Observing them I see they are eating what I can only assume are microscopic Pokémon of some type? Or maybe something like plankton or algae?

As I continue to follow the group of schooling fish above me I fail to notice the dark shadow in the distance barrelling towards them. They on the other hand do not fail to notice the impending threat and group up tighter and tighter.

Only too late I notice the Sharpedo smashing into the school of fish, breaking them apart and chomping more then afew in the process. This isn't a Pokémon fight, this is just feeding.

SHARPEDO - LVL 20 unknown abilities/skills hp and mp.

Okay so he or she is definetely not an option. However this is a chance that I can take advantage of if I play my cards right.

I patiently wait for what I predict will happen next. The wishiwashi realising that their strategy of grouping up makes no difference to the SHARPEDO who outclasses them in both size, level and speed decide on a different strategy. Almost as if they were some sort of hivemind, the wishiwashi make a desperate attempt to flee in all directions from the voracious predator.

CHANCE!

I watch as the wishiwashi flee in all over the place, most passing above me and fleeing whilst some plunge straight down into the sand in an attempt to hide. One lucky Wishiwashi has made the unfortunate mistake of not only trying to hide right next to me, it has also succeeded in smashing head first into a rock buried just below the surface of the sand.

WISHIWASHI - LVL 1 HP 6/10 MP 3/10.

I rocket out of the sand with the use of PROPEL and slam into the dazed fish with a HEADBUT taking -2 damage in the process and dealing a whopping critical hit of 6 damage. Before I can celebrate my new kill I quickly grab the fish and dive back into my hiding hole under the sand.

Heres hoping that the shark hasn't noticed me.

As I happily munch of the small fish and check my status I check the area for more opportunities.

*DING - experience gained*

*DING - You have learned AMBUSH*

AMBUSH - Sneak up on unsuspecting foes - if ambush is successful you will attack first and always score a critical hit.

Well that's fantastic news. I don't know of many seals that would have a skill like this since they usually don't hide in wait but instead just chase down their prey with dexterity and speed. Both of which I hate to admit, I sorely lack.

As I watch the Shark dissapear into the distance, apparently satisfied with his fill of food I observe the nearby sand in the hopes of finding a few more little fish. Not as tasty as crab but who doesn't like a good fresh caught sashmi....with bones.

I notice around 20 metres away the sand looks as though it is breathing. YES! This is great, meal number 2!

I wait for the fish to emerge.....and wait.... and ... bits of fish scales are dispelled from the sand depression in a little plume. Yeah maybe that isn't a wishiwashi? I watch as the depression slowly moves away and then wait another 5 minutes to see another puff of scales released from the sand above the site.

The depression then slowly moves towards me.

Shit this thing has got some sort of tremor sense or echolocation for finding targets underground?

Time to go. I PROPEL myself in a different direction to the as of yet unknown creature. However I pause before I use another PROPEL as a blue shell with beadly little eyes stares out from amongst the sand.

I get a good enough look to realise that its a LVL 3 -SHELLDER 30/30 HP 20/30 MP.

Now, I’m not brave or anything however for those of you not in the know there's just one thing that I can say that will explain my actions next. SCALLOPS. If crab meat was that tasty, how good is scallops going to taste!!

So with determination I head back towards the Shellder which has given up all pretence of hiding.

Knowing full well that he is an entire level above me. I can see the little fucker licking his lips in anticipation of something new to eat.

From my in game knowledge I know this little creature has A) A hard shell - obvious B) a tounge used for grabbing prey C) the ability to snap it's shell shut to raipdly PROPELL itself away from danger.

I decide on a super crazy plan. Suicidal except that if I don't die it is not only NOT suicidal it means I can eat SCALLOPS!

So I just sit there doing nothing and sink to the sand. The confused and excited shellder does what any other predatory and stupid animal does. It goes in for the kill, coming closer and closer.

Once it’s in position it pulls its tongue into his shell and YEP .. flicks it's tongue around my presented tail in an attempt to drag my sorry arse into its clutches.

YESSS SUCKERRRRRR!!

What I do next suprises the poor clam as I PROPEL PROPEL PROPEL straight up, dragging him on a joy ride with me. You take -4 damage from recoil of being held, shellder takes -5 damage from the tension in it's tongue.

The shellder has no choice but the come with me as if he decides to let go I escape and he can't snap himself shut or he will lose his tongue.

He glares at me, promising to do evil things to me when I run out of juice. Only problem for him.. this party is just getting started, and i’ve got plenty of juice in the tank for what happens next.

I look around and spy exactly what I was hoping to find.

Some nice hard rocks below us in the distance. Ohhhh buddy you have NOOO idea the world of pain your are about to be put through.

I steel myself with determination, BITE into the shellders tongue and hold on for dear life as I activate propel another 5 times rocketing towards the rock face.

A panicked looking shellder tries to escape and detach his tongue from my tail however this has NO EFFECT since the ‘Cats got his tongue!!!’

MWAHAHAHAH, you are so screwed. Shellder repeatedly uses HARDEN in anticipation of the imact that is about to occur.

YES!!! YOU IDIOT! You stupid stupid moron. Car crashes don't always kill people from the initial impact on their outer body, it's the trauma that occurs internally that often does them in. Medical science 101 for the win. With this knowledge I reckelessly charge towards the rock let go of shellders tongue at the last few moments and use PROPEL another two times to change my angle and barely dodge above the rock face, clipping my left flipper in the process and doing -10 damage.

BOOM - Shellder has suffered immense internal trauma and has taken -22 damage. BOO-YAH almost a ONE HIT KO.

Would you like to attempt to capture SHELLDER it is dazed and still alive. Warning once caught you may not eat him as this is akin to eating a part of yourself and therefore you will recieve no benefits.

Thanks for the offer system, maybe next time. But.. yeah.... SCALLOPS... no way am I going to keep this dude.

The stunned and heavily injured shellder sits shell open on the sand just below the rock face and with great joy I EMPOWERED BITE into its muscular tongue doing another -3 damage.

SHELLDER slain by SEEL *DING Lvl 2>3 *

I grab the shell by the tongue and swim towards home, trophy in tow.

As the light fades and I feast upon the most delicious thing I have eaten in either world I have lived in, I take the time to look over my status.
