My generals are all practicing with their new revolvers. Each looks happy with their new toy, some choosing a single type of paper scroll while others choose a mixture. Some choosing all healing scrolls… Gobber couldn't decide, so he'll be made one revolver for each spell that can be cast. It will take him longer to find the exact weapon he needs compared to the others who have 1 or 2 but he'll have more variety than the others… Each is given a pouch to hold several sets of extra bullets.
The only way to remove the paper scrolls is to do it by hand then place the new ones inside… Perhaps using a similar method of a hinge I used for the firearms would help decrease the reload speed of them… I'll have to get them off my generals after they're done practicing with them to make the improvements… The hinge will have to work differently to the others as well. I start to get excited thinking about making changes to the weapons.
Swift explains that it would be easier to reload if he could reload all 6 barrels at once… That got me thinking of a clip type invention that could reload all 6 barrels at once… It had taken far less time to devise than I thought it would and it cuts the time it would take to reload down to about 10-20 seconds depending on who was reloading… You still would have to set-up the paper scrolls beforehand but with a quick reload, you could now fire far faster when you needed to and in your downtime shave off the cost of reloading in battle.
I remember my other inventions that I didn't get to explain… Those were the biggest pieces but… I doubt that many would have cared about them. Honestly though… They are going to have the biggest changes to the army. First, I've made a devise that transfuses the power from the mana batteries to the mana canisters. With this, it wouldn't take someone's time to make the mana canisters and we wont need to use expensive materials to decrease the time it would take to make them.
The next is the biggest in my opinion. It had taken the most time to figure out and it will help the most. It was for an item that could be used like enchanting paper but for more than one use. I couldn't think of a way… No matter how much effort I put in… There is no possible way to make a reusable scroll… I found a loophole though.
With a giant sheet of metal enchanted with spell steal. I could cast a magic spell at it… Then place a bunch of enchantment paper on it… Then, by running a mana source through it, I could enchant all the enchanted paper making the enchanted scrolls. Thus, cutting the time it would take in making the scrolls by however many I could fit on the sheet of metal. I'm not exactly sure how it works, if I had to guess… I would say that because the paper is stealing increments of the mana of the spell that is trying to be cast. It fills them instead of activating the stored flare. I'm not entirely sure how it works though...
Using the same method. You can power the metal with a mana battery and it would shoot out the spell. If you had 2 of these facing each other… One would collect the spell, then once every 5 minutes it would fire it back at the other metal sheet… Using this method I could do some very clever things.
Once something is made… It isn't perfect, I am always looking for new ways to improve everything… I would never assume that something I made was the best it could be. That narrow thinking would only hurt my troops… They would still be using weaker gear… Weaker weapons… Finally they would all be weaker if I didn't constantly look for ways to improve everything.
Because of this… I start to improve everything with these mana batteries. Starting first with the blacksmiths forge. I wanted to strengthen it for awhile. Our weapons are on par if not above the average weapon made by other blacksmiths… It can be better… Far better than what it is currently though. The new mana batteries are powering several metal sheets with flare magic to keep the forge at an even temperature. This also raises the peak temperature we can reach. At some points, the forge is now hot enough to melt stronger metals down. Doing this will help remove the impurities from them by burning them out.
I also added the batteries to a tailoring loom. I made a few other new tools and inventions that help knit the gear we are going to wear. I start working on making all the other job workstations better. I do the same thing I did to the forge to the ovens the cooks use. I also add a few metal sheets that were enchanted with flare to help keep the food warm. The difference between enchanting a piece of metal with flare and spell steal is obvious by now. While flare only heats it up, spell steal launches out the magic that it is attacked by.
I still need to make more changes but this is all I could do that day. The next day I continue to make changes. I make the roads to Shienta far safer to travel. If it was wide enough for a cart to fit before it is now wide enough to fit 2 on the same road. I had even went as far as to pave the roads. Something I had only seen the south east continent do. And even then it was very rare. The cities here have cobbled streets but I only think the south east has the knowledge to make cement… Except for me as well, the merchant looked confused when I asked for a dozen bags of lime. I also fence off the forest so less monsters would find their way onto the road.
I still collect money from the citizens there for using our hot springs. It isn't much but any amount could be useful. Especially with the new products I'm making… I also used a huge portion of gold when making the dragon slayer metal. By combining the adamantine and mithril, we made very strong metal. All of the gold added to the metal itself was only to increase the amount of mana that could be stored inside… I used over 1000 gold… If Greed finds out, he might try to convince Darkclaw to kill me.
The metal might be the strongest in the entire world… The biggest drawback is I've only got about 30 bars of it to make new weapons with… I'll have to think of a way for everyone to get a piece of it. The metal is too rare to use as the entire sword… Perhaps, making the tip out of dragon slayer metal and then putting it in a cast as the tip while pouring in liquid steel to comprise the rest would be the best choice… The biggest problem with the metal is it's heating temperature is far higher than other metal… A much harder process that could go wrong for every single weapon made will have to be used to make these swords.

I still need to speak with my uncle, the mayor of Shienta… So I head down the freshly paved road. No more worrying about tweaking my ankle while traveling, I quickly sprint down the freshly made road before realizing that my heavy weighted steps were leaving footprints… I walked beside the concrete afterwords… I guess it needs to set for longer than a day to handle my weight.
I've increased the amount I carry for training purposes again. Now upwards of 150 pounds (68 kilos) per arm. As well as my legs, which is still quite uncomfortable to walk around carrying. When I take the weight off to sleep it feels like my body is lighter than a feather. I also carry a backpack with all of my gear still. It used to be weighted, but as I continued to gather more items. I realized it didn't need to be. It weighs about the same as each bracer on me.
That isn't including my weight 185 pounds (84 kilos) and the weight of the rest of my equipment… My swords, shield, crossbow, short bow, long bow, equipment I'm wearing and even the weight inside the void teeth in my mouth. I'll soon be holding over 1000 pounds (454 kilos) of weight if I continue to increase the weight.
I make my way through the door to Shienta. One of the guards commented on the new road… How my road makes the existing dirt trails look like shit and that the mayor might want to pave the existing roads for at least a few miles inside and outside the city walls… I guess he is right. I did it for convenience but compared to what the world is working with here… It looks far better than most other roads by comparison.
I head inside and make my way through the city. Most people still don't know who I am… I'm not even sure my uncle will recognize me. I make my way inside and it is just as expected… First, one of his secretaries stops me.
“Hello, do you have an appointment to see the mayor?”
“No but I think he is going to want to talk to me.”
She barely even registers my comment before going through a canned speech.
“If you would like to talk with the mayor please make an appointment. You can head over there to file to paperwork it is going to take in order to speak with him. The mayor is a very busy person, it might be weeks before he can get back to you depending on your situation. If this is about the slum fire that displaced several houses of people we are already working on the solution.”
I sigh before continuing to speak.
“I'm the mayor's nephew, he is going to want to speak with me.”
She looks up from her book. Sort of eyeing me far closer than before… She gets up and heads towards the mayors office. I can hear her muttering.
“The resemblance to Kite is very similar… I'll have to ask the mayor if Kite had any older… More handsome brothers.”
The last part I overheard brought a smile to my face. My uncle keeps his office staffed with some of the most attractive women in the city. If she finds me attractive, that makes me feel a little better. I guess she did also insult the way I looked almost 2 years ago. The secretary comes walking out, now with my uncle. Food spatters his clothing as he must have been eating his third lunch as I came by. He has somehow managed to get even fatter in the past few years. Just sitting up has him winded as he walks through the door and starts yelling.
“What kind of nonsense is this about a second nephew?”
He looks at me… I can see his eyes recognize something about my appearance.
“By gods, you look just like Elise! What sort of trickery is this!? She was single until she married my brother. Then they had Kite… Are you by chance a bastard son of hers?”
I almost laugh at what he had said. My appearance has shifted so much that even someone who related to me doesn't know who I am… The fact that my appearance was compared to my mothers is a bit worrisome though… I've had a few people confuse me for a woman before. I speak up now.
“No uncle, I am Kite… I've just done a little growing since you've last seen me.”
The look of sweaty confusion on his face changes to shock. Pieces of food mixed in with spittle fly out as he exaggeratedly yells.
“By what means did you change this much in such a sort time!? Have you found some miracle drug that stimulates growth!?”
“Yes I have uncle. It is called time.”
I don't think he understands what I said as he continued to look at me shocked for a few moments… He grabs a piece of cloth and proceeds to wipe the sweat off his face. Sitting close to me as he continues to ask questions.
“So… Something must have brought you here besides almost giving me a heart attack. What have you come to talk about?”
“I was coming to ask about our plans for the upcoming war. If you have any plans on sending troops to help in the war efforts… I would like to train them before you send them off… I would also like to speak about the new roads we put in leading towards our fortress… Also about adding in a proper sewer system that isn't just a hole beneath the city… I would also like a small group of peasants I can gain as allies for the upcoming war I can call my own troops. I also heard about a fire that has broken out recently. Perhaps I can provide some aid to make sure repairs come along smoothly.”
He looks at me dumbfounded… Perhaps I should take it more slowly. I go over each topic separately now. I need to remember that most people can't have this many thoughts and idea's rolling around at once. He says that most of the men who are going to be in the war have already headed off towards Merideth. He has given me permission to make changes to the city and will pay for any improvements I make (most likely the cost of the materials and barely enough to be considered fair pay). Finally, there are some low born peasants I can take in and train… The fire had misplaced about 100 people from the slums… The mayor has been racking his brain over what to do with them and I had solved that problem.
