Once Edward created enough of an opening for him and Johnny to escape, they ran past the firing squad and into Edward’s car where they quickly drove away.
After a moment of silence, looked over to an exhausted Edward.
“Edward.” Johnny began.
“You don’t need to say anything, Johnny.” Edward interrupted.
“I wouldn’t say anything I didn’t believe.” Edward continued.
“Yeah,” Johnny responded.
“I want to ask you for a favor,” Edward said
“Okay,” Johnny responded
“I know this would be endangering you, but I need to find my son. Could you help me?” Edward asked.
“Okay. Where do we start?” Johnny responded immediately.
Edward took a moment before he responded and smiled.
“Manhattan, I want to introduce you to someone,” Edward said.
Edward parked his car at the port in Far Rockaway.
“We’ll take the ferry across the water, with the Mad Dogs possibly looking for us it’s safer to be on foot,” Edward explained

“Okay,” Johnny responded
Johnny and Edward felt the sea breeze brush against their skin as they went to get their tickets to get onto the ferry. Johnny felt the eyes of several people watching him as he got onto the ferry with Edward. However, he chose not to say anything to not set off the ones watching them. The heavy atmosphere on the ferry caused Johnny to stay alert and on guard. No matter where Edward went, he followed, and Johnny refused to drink anything from the store on the ferry.
“How many are there?” He thought to himself.
Several questions raced through Johnny’s head at once for the rest of the boat ride and after the boat docked at the first stop he parted from
Edward for a moment and the eyes were still on him.
“Are they just after me?” Johnny thought.
Johnny walked from the top deck, where he and Edward sat, to downstairs where there were fewer people around to bait his attackers into attacking him. Johnny heard faint footsteps from behind him and held in a deep breath. However nothing happened, the footsteps that he had heard behind him were from a tourist family that wanted to go to the store.
Unable to discern who was watching him and unable to bait them into attacking him, Johnny went back upstairs to where Edward remained safe and sat silently next to him. Finally, the boat docked
in Manhattan and everyone began to get off of the boat including Edward and Johnny. After stepping off of the boat, Johnny felt a sudden spike in the pressure that he felt.
“Did you feel that?” Edward asked.
“I did, but What is it?” Johnny asked
“We’re not in the same Manhattan that you know. There are two different ones, the one where normal people live and the one where Magicians exist.” Edward answered.
“So we’re in a magical Manhattan?” Johnny asked.
“Something like that, after people have learned how to breathe, they become able to cross over into this world, but it only if they travel by ferry into Manhattan,” Edward explained.
Johnny had never thought about the possibility that there would be other magicians that existed in the world, so when Edward told him about the mythical Manhattan, he didn’t know how to respond and just nodded his head as if he understood what Edward said.
