Getting into a helicopter again made me nervous but like our pilot this new guy seemed very professional and knew what he was doing. We had got what we came for, a hunk of rock that kira could use for whatever. After a short while the pilot was given clearance and we took off. One of the Marines was flying with us sitting near the door, feet hanging out the helicopter. Hoving above the base we stopped. “ Why are we not going? "I asked over the headset. "We may have a problem, ” the marine told me. Looking down outside the helicopter on the ground were about 100 demons and orcs surrounding the base, sneaking up. Our ticket home turned into a recon vehicle. The pilot was notifying the base of all of their locations, at that moment the base's alarm went off. Inside people were scrambling around others shouting to the demons to stay back. All of the sudden while we were hovering around the outside the group of demons and orcs at the same time charged at the base. The shouting commands from the base fell upon violent unresponsive ears. Fighting broke out and what appeared to have been a surprise attack turned out to be true. The bases corner 20 MM turrets fired back ripping through all that stood in their way, trees, demons, everything. An explosion shook the helicopter. One of the corners was hit and demons and orcs poured into the base. The sun was beginning to go down now. The afternoon pink sky filled the world around us. The base's flood lights turned on to reveal a horrific scene. From what appeared to be a well protected base was now on a last stand, the soldiers were strong but the sheer amount of demons and orcs was too much. Most were killed right where they stood fighting caught off guard from behind. Anyone caught running to safety got dragged off into the darkness; the runway side of the base was the only safe spot. Machine gun nests and floodlights were set up. Our helicopter started to descend. “What are we doing? '' I asked nervously. “We're going to help evacuate some”. The pilot said. Landing back on the base the soldiers poured into sea knights, the two C-17’s, Mi-17’s, chinooks, black hawks, and one tu-95. It didn't matter if you were Russian or American, the soldiers fought alongside each other; they got into anything they could despite the flag. The base was bigger than I thought. The demons were sensitive to bright lights so the floodlights set up would keep them back as long as they were on, so the only thing to fight off was the orcs. Some soldiers carried the wounded, others ammunition, others the bases classified files. The last remaining soldiers loaded into vehicles. The flood lights flickered then cut out. The demons can be incredibly fast, minigun fire from the blackhawks and guns from the soldiers flickered all over the base. Lifting off. The demons and orcs covered the runway, the last remaining lights went out and the base went dark. The Tu-95 was the last thing to take off. But it appeared fine flying behind the C-17’s. Our helicopter had gained 7 more people. 4 Americans, 3 Russians. One of the soldiers pointed his rifle at the blackhawk next to us. “THE HELL ARE YOU DOING” one of the american soldiers yelled at him. The Russian turned on his rifle's flashlight.
