14. The Little cabin

14. The Little cabin

We went to investigate the cabin only to find it more abandoned than we thought the building had no rot and looked as if it was built yesterday. No furniture but had stoves, sinks, bathrooms etc. Looking around the cabin we still haven't found one sign that anyone has been here, built it but never used it. In the house's master bedroom we found only a closet and a nightstand in the nightstand resting on a for sale pamphlet. After asking around we found that the original owners had mysteriously disappeared and the house had gone up for sale before it got used. Before we left the house I stuck the pamphlet in my pocket. Leaving the cabin behind we returned to the lake, continuing to walk around. While we walked Liz took my hand, “ could we do this again? “ She happily asked. “ Yes I would like to as well” I honestly replied. At this point the sun was now going down, with it the temperature crept down. Walking back to the impala, still holding hands, the lake was a calm couple of ducks still flapping around. The old fisherman had already packed up and left, in his spot left an old foldable chair. Like a true distinguished gentleman I opened the door for liz. With a good ‘clunk’ the door shut clean and solid, not bad for a 55 year old door. Instead of racing home we just did a nice cruise, Neon lights older than I am steadily beamed in the dusk sky lining buildings. Open signs in the windows of business were slowly turning off one by one. Light poles turned on like a runway to an airport. A dimer light pole much dimer than any of the others, had someone under it. Much too dim to see all that was visible was a dark figure. “ Do you see that?" I asked Liz as we drove past, by the time I looked back at the pole it was gone and the light was back to its intended brightness. Kind of freaked me out but I didn't let it get to me. What a perfect day I thought to myself, I had gotten used to liz, I can tell i have. Pulling into her driveway I notice that I've gotten to view this house as my own home, Funny isn't it. For dinner she made us Steak and mashed potatoes, not bad. Our neighbor was an Elven family, interesting because most of the town were humans, and had been for a while. Through the window they were enjoying dinner as well, “nice people” liz said when she noticed me looking. I've traveled pretty far exploring the vast lands of America. Dinner now over we headed upstairs, a decent size house not too small , not too big, Only had one bedroom but two bathrooms.
