16. Demons and humans

She appeared to be a little sad but at the same time there was a little smile on her face. I got up and when I looked at the photo on it was a fit demon who looked more like a human than most but had little black horn nubs on his head. He was dressed in a Black suit with a red tie. Next to him was a White human woman, she was wearing a white flowing dress, with golden blond blowing hair. The picture was dated 1978, they had just gotten married. Holding the picture I Turned to Liz, “ Are these your parents ? “ Yea that's one of the few pictures I have of them. They were shunned by both families, my granfather kicked my mother out and so did my dads side of the family. “ She admitted. This isn't uncommon. I know of people whose family’s abandoned them because they fell in love with someone not in their class. It appears that had happened to Liz's parents. I set the picture back down on the mantle of the woodstove. “ What about you? “ she asked me, breaking the silence. “ I don't talk too much about myself, Guess i don't really have a good reason “, It was true i don't hate my parents or anything i just haven't talked to them for a while just not much to talk about. My Parents were both humans. They raised me well, I can't complain. I shot her a smile and she shot one back, “ Wanna go for a ride? “. “ Yea “ she said energetically . I grabbed my hat that was resting in the kitchen. “ I'll be out in a second, “ she said from across the house “. I grabbed the Impalas keys, outside the house resting along the side of the house. The chrome bumper was reflecting the sun's rays, shining brightly into any unfortunate person who glanced at it. Sitting inside the car, not starting it until Liz came outside, I waited. Glancing around the car looking at the tripoli turquoise carpet I glanced up at the glovebox perhaps inside could be an old book or something I might have forgotten about. Inside was a window ice scraper, an old receipt from 1968 and on the left rested my bayonet I've had since high school. The door opened and Liz came outside. I started the car. Rumbling back to life, the radio came on playing the last song I had on.
