Chapter 8 - Training and Knowledge...

- Akuma's Point of View -

A year passes in a flash of an eye. Well, I think a year passed by, that is...

During this past year, I have created a regiment to train myself to get stronger. Thankfully, it works wonderfully! My strength nowadays is noticeable and greater than it was when I arrived in this world.

The regiment I created is typical, I think... I noticed that I never felt hungry, so I decided to train once I get up to when I fall asleep at night. I did have to tweak the regiment a couple of times, but I think it is finalized now. To summarize my schedule...

At 5 A.M, when I wake up, I start my tiny warmup of 10,000 pushups, 7,000 arm circles, 4,000 jumping jacks, 1,000 crunches, and 500 sit-ups. To not get bored or sick of one thing, I would add some other things I know with this warmup or replace something with something else for that day. This usually takes an hour...

After doing my warmup, I take off for my run. I wanted to increase my endurance and speed, so I thought running far and testing how long it would take to complete the run were important. With that, I decided to run a 200-kilometer run every day.

Of course, when I tried this at first, it took the entire day to complete. Nowadays, it only takes 30 minutes to complete! Now, I can run 400 km/h. This isn't my fastest, mind you... I discovered some ways to increase my speed via magic but doing so would make it harder for me to physically. Therefore, I try to run this 200 km with only my physical form.

After my run, I take a small break. Then, at 7 A.M, I go monster hunting. This part of my training made my upper body stronger, but I found that killing monsters could help my upper body and my senses. I try not to use magic when fighting and only use weapons that I have created or with my hands. By doing this, I have mastered, or I feel like I have mastered, many weapons: Swords, short swords, bows, spears, knives, and hand-to-hand combat (Although this may not be considered a real weapon).

I don't really have a quota for my monster hunts. I only continue to hunt until I feel satisfied. I think that I usually spent an hour or two hunting. Nowadays, I only spend an hour hunting since my skills improved so much. Also, I have a backlog of dead monsters and have nothing to do with them... Maybe I should head to a city's guild and trade them in for a reward?

Anyway, after fighting monsters, normally near 8 A.M, I dedicate myself to reading books. Since I have an entire database to read, I give myself a couple of hours to read. I think I had read around 1,000 books so far. Still, that barely scratches the surface...

Speaking about books, I have learned many things while reading them. Around half were about this world, while the other half was about magic. The first half taught me about each kingdom, their people, every race, the Gods, and a bunch of other things. The 2nd half taught me how to create spells, magical items, and more.

Since most of the things I learned don't really matter to me at this moment, I'll leave them out. Though, I did find something out that shocked me...

One book that was in the first half was about Mythical Monsters. To summarized, it told about some monsters that have incredible powers. Most of them are extinct, but a couple still lives here today. One of them that interested me is about a dragon who can speak. Sadly, I found out that he is being captive by some kingdom and is on the other side of the world... That wasn't what surprised me, though.

The last monster in that book was named The Blue Devil. This creature is a being with powers inhuman, although it looks similarly like one. It has powers that could destroy the world in an instant and specializes in magic. Although the monster was only a rumor by human parents, some people believe his existence is real. It is believed that he lives in a cave that is within an enormous forest. People of this world have named this forest The Blue Devil's den. Currently, its existence is a mystery.

About its appearance, it takes the form of a male human with medium mana-blue hair. It wears a blue colored trench coat and sharp pointy teeth. The creature also has two different colored eyes (One blue and the other brown). It is also rumored that the creature doesn't have pupils in one of his eyes but a magic circle instead. Also, some magical symbols or lines surrounds his blue-colored eye on his face.

While I read that, something clicked within my mind... This sounds... like me. Wait, I remember those elves say that he is real... Were they referring to the Blue Devil? Well, that kind of makes senses why Ken and others are afraid of me...

After reading that book, I understood who I was: The Blue Devil. I didn't really mind being it, but I'm going to have to get used to people fearing me...

Anyway, the 2nd half of those books help me understand magic a bit more. There were many things I learned but saying all of them would take too long. Therefore, I'll only share some important parts of magic and the spell process.

First, magic doesn't exist everywhere in the world; Magic Particules do. These particules are similar to light particules or photons, except that they are used only for magic.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

These particules exist everywhere and are an almost infinite amount of them. The reason why people can use magic and create spells is because of these particules.

To cast magic or use spells, a magic circle is needed. These circles are made up of magic particules. The circle is also the makeup or code for spells. There are many unique symbols and writing on the circle that you can create. When you use them in a certain way, you can create different spells. If you manually create the spell, you have a lot of room to change or optimize the spell you wish to use; however, you have to do it manually. Chanting creates a makeup that is already done; however, to change the spell's power, you either have to have a higher imagination or use a different chant.

Once you create the spell you wish to use or used a chant, the magic circle will begin the process of Mana Infusion. In this process, your mana will flow towards the circle's location so that it can create the spell. Since the circle is tied with the caster, only the caster's mana will flow into it unless others cast magic that can affect the circle.

Once your mana flows into the circle, the spell can then occur. If one doesn't have enough mana, however, they will collapse due to Mana Lost. The spell will then be corrupted and convert the mana inside of it to Outer Mana. By the way, the speed that mana goes into a circle is called Mana Flow. The higher one's mana flow, the fast they can pump mana into the spell. To have effective mana flow, you have to move the mana within your body to a point where the circle is nearest. Also, if the circle is not within your body range, the flow speed will decrease incredibly. This makes creating spells from afar almost impossible or slow.

Referring back to mana lost, outer mana is what creates monsters. The demon lord of this world uses outer mana and regular mana to cast spells and create subordinates. Regular people can create monsters, as well. In fact, dark magic can be used to convert your mana into outer mana; however, it is nearly impossible or uses too much magic to create a desire monster. Plus, since you used most of your mana, you won't have enough to form a pact with the beast; therefore, it is basically useless unless you are the Demon Lord.

Speaking of impossible spells due to lack of mana, there is a way to decrease the initial spell's mana amount. If you create multiple circles, you can change the properties, like a spell's mana usage. Sadly, to create another magic circle requires an enormous amount of magic already, so it basically useless. That said, it is not impossible to do so...

There are many other magical practices that I have learned, but for the sake of time, I'll leave them out for now...

After reading books for about 4 to 6 hours (12 P.M - 2 P.M), I devote myself to magic training for the rest of the day. At first, I practice with chants but soon stopped and focused on manual creation. I know that chanting is easier and can be a lot faster, but I wanted to be a magician who did things manually. That and because my spells would have more power to them...

That said, I soon realized a flaw around the 6th-month mark. Manually creating spells isn't slow at all! True, it was at first, but when you memorize and know all of the symbols, it is easy. Well, maybe being a programmer in my past life had some influence on that... Also, my imagination isn't as great as others.

Earlier, there was something that I left out... The magic particules that make up a magic circle also can change color based on the attribute it was assigned to. These attributes are something that I already learned from my 2nd book that I read in this world. When manually creating spells, I have to first make up what attribute it needs or uses in order for the spell to work. If I use them incorrectly, the process of outer mana occurs or a different spell happens in its place.

For example, some spells have the exact makeup: Fireball, Waterball, Lightball, Darkball, etc. These spells have almost the exact code/magic makeup; however, they have different attributes. Fireball uses the fire attribute while Waterball uses the water attribute. For chants, the chant gives the spell its attributes automatically, which also makes it harder for a chanter to use multiple magic circles or spells...

One day I went out to hunt monsters with only magic. When I did, I discovered that my magic was too... destructive. After that day, I try to withhold my magic powers to destroy something accidentally...

Nowadays, I can control my spell and my mana flow so that the destructive power is on the low side. Apart from that, I learned many non-attack spells and used them for magic.

Like I stated before, I can run extremely fast with magic. If I combine two spells, overclock and boast, my speeds can exceed 10,000 kilometers per hour. This speed helps when I use my flight ability, which I have used and been training along with teleport.

Another type of magic I learned is a spell called Dimensional Storage. The spell uses the space attribute or type of magic... It is a convenient spell. Speaking of which, I use this spell to hold all the monsters and extra objects or items that I have. Time is different in that world. Although it isn't frozen, time moves very slowly. Every year that passes, only 1 second goes by in the spell's storage. Though, this is an estimation. I don't know if it is exactly like that...

Other than this, another use of magic is to create magic tools or weapons. I skipped this earlier, but monsters have crystals within them called Magical Crystals. These crystals can be found in nature, but monsters have bigger and powerful ones. They have them because these crystals are made of compressed outer magic.

If you have a magical crystal, you can do many things like enchant weapons or create magic items. Crystals have a unique ability to hold onto magical information so they could be used to cast magic from afar. Sadly, they deteriorate over time and use, but you can insert your own mana into it for continued use.

By using some crystals, I have created lights inside my cave. They are made of some basic crystals that use light magic. So far, they seem never to run out until I undo the spell when sleeping. I have only inserted my mana into them once, but they seem to last for years...

Speaking about my cave, I have cozied it up by adding fur bedding, rugs, glasses, and a bunch more! I used magic for some things like glass and monsters for others like rugs or bedding. It is nearly like my old home...

Anyway... today is like another typical day. I just finished my daily run, beating my old time by a second, when I notice a presence beside my house. Since I ignore most things during my run, I didn't notice them before.

I rush over to my cave to see the guests and what they might want. When I arrive, I couldn't believe what I saw...

My cave... The home that I spent time working on for myself... It is now in shambles.
