"Yawn!"
I slowly awake, preparing myself for yet another day of boredom; however, I notice that my alarm didn't wake me up as I wake up.
"Shit! What time is it? I hope that I didn't sleep through my alarm."
I shuffle my hand around to my right, searching for my phone, but it's nowhere to be found. Actually, has my nightstand always been this cold and hard? It's as if my nightstand where I always put my phone has become petrified.
I open my eyes to help search, but everything stays the same. I mean, it's still dark out, pitch darkness. I can't see anything!
"Huh?!"
Suddenly, I felt my eyes do something. I don't know what, but now I can see perfectly fine. I mean, mere seconds ago, there was no light in sight, but now it's as if light has suddenly appeared to guide me. That said, I can't find the source of this light.
Ignoring what I can see now, I search around the room, trying to see if I can find my phone. Sadly, I don't see it anywhere. That said, I do notice that I'm not in my room, nor am I lying on my soft bed. Instead, I'm lying on the cold floor, which is apparently made of stone. Also, the room I'm in has rough walls that look to be not human-made.
"Where am I?"
I continue searching around. Based on what I learned thus far, I'm guessing that I'm in some cave. I'm unsure of how I got here, but I'm here. Well, I guess that doesn't matter. Right now, I need to understand my situation and make the better of it. Therefore, getting out of here is my best bet.
I nod to myself as I search for the exit. The current room I'm in seems to be the deepest this cave gets. I say this because I'm in a round room, and the only way out is to follow an incline. Following it, it takes me to the exit or entrance, which is connected to the outside. Thankfully the natural light that radiates from the exit/entrance overrides the mysterious light that I have, allowing me to find it easier than it would have been.
Anyway, I slowly take a foot out of the exit, feeling the fresh air hit my nostrils. Once completely outside, my eyes change again. After the change, my eyes get bombarded with warm and cool colors. Only one word escapes my mouth...
"Beautiful."
It's true. The ground is made up of lavish lime green grass with an assortment of flowers mixed between, making the ground look colorful. Trees surround me at the heights of giants. Not only that, but the leaves on the trees are so thick and colorful that the foliage blocks the majority of the sun but leaves enough sunlight for the creatures under them.
In front of me, which is in the middle of the surrounding trees, a large clear-blue lake lies wait. It dazzles with the sunlight and reflects the beautiful trees onto the water. In it, I can see an assortment of different colored fishes, some that I have never seen before.
I then take a look upwards and stand in amazement at the clear blue skies. The sun stands at the highest point, sending rays onto the planet's surface. The sky stays the perfect blue, allowing the sun to be the centerpiece. That said, distant clouds can be seen, making up different shapes, though none of them recognizable.
I step forward and turn around to look at the cave. It took looks great with the area around it. The rock's color is the perfect shade of grey that blends with the lime green of the grass. It also blends with the color of the lake. Nevertheless, this entire scenery is beautiful! It's as if I got transported into a painting of a masterpiece.
Speaking geographically, it seems the trees and plant life surround the lake with a distance of 1 kilometer that is nothing but plains. Inside the plains lays my cave and is located south of the lake. As far as I can see, the trees make up a thick forest that seems to go on for ages. Mathematically, I'm guessing that this forest is around a couple of million acres.
Nevertheless, I should be thinking about how I got here rather than looking at the scenery. I mean, if I don't get back soon, I might get fired from my job! Well, it isn't that big of a deal, but it will be hard to find another job when my answer to why I got fired is oversleeping.
That said, I am a tad thirsty. I wonder if this lake made of freshwater? There may be fish swimming in the lake, but when there are no other water sources, who could complain?
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
I walk up to the water and begin to drink water from its surface when I freeze from seeing my own reflection. My appearance showcasing from the water isn't like my appearance the other day. Instead of my brown hair, brown eyes, and expressionless not-attractive face, I now have blue hair, Heterochromia iridum (My right eye is near the sky's color while my left is blood red), and an angry expressionless somewhat-attractive face. Well, apart from my facial expressions, everything is really different.
To add to that, I'm not wearing the PJs that I wore to sleep. Instead, I'm wearing a stylish trench-coat that has a blue-based color with all of its accents black.
"W-what is going..."
I stop midway through my sentence because the water reflected images of my teeth. Instead of my normal average teeth, they are now extremely sharp and monster-like. With these teeth, it does look like I'm some scary monster. I mean, it's scaring me a tad bit!
"Ugh... What's going on."
I continue to stare at myself in the water when thoughts of last night came into my mind.
"That's right... These are the accessories that I added to that questionnaire last night. Although it's not perfectly how I pictured it."
Anyway, if this is from that questionnaire, does that mean that I have reincarnated into another world?
As if answering my question, a dragon about the size of a battleship soars across the sky, leaving contrails.
"Woah..."
Before it registered in my mind, I stare at the red-colored dragon as it passed by. Then, it hit me.
Wait, a dragon?! HIDE!
I fall to the ground and covers my head with my arms. I then waited a minute. I peek outside after that minute, seeing if the dragon flew away... And it did.
"Phew... I don't know what the threat levels of dragons are, but they must be high."
Now then, that answers my question. I had reincarnated as this person? Monster? I have reincarnated; that's all that matters.
If this is the character I made from that questionnaire, does that mean I have the powers I added too? I wish I could test to see if it's true, but I don't know how to use it.
As I ponder at the thought of using teleportation or flight, my ears pick up some noise located to the west of me. I turn my head and face in that direction. Although I can't decipher the messages, I can clearly hear a conversation between two individuals.
"Ooh! If I go over and find them, I might get some answers from them."
With newfound determination, I dash in the direction of the voices. As I approach, I quickly realize the importance of this situation.
Have my ears always been this good? I mean, the voices are clearly more than kilometers away from me, but I notice them and can understand some parts of the conversations. Also, when did my endurance and speed increase? Oh, the application did say that I got extra powers...
I shake my head and continue running on. After about ten minutes of running around, I reach the point where I can fully understand their conversation.
"Markus! Please listen to me! This is the forest of the dangerous monster in the world. We need to leave right away before it comes and eats us!"
"Rie, as I told you for the 100th time, the Blue Devil does not exist. He never did! Humans came up with the idea to fool their children into submission by creating a scary figure to do their bidding. Now, continue!"
"But Markus!"
Their conversation continues with this ramble. That said, I notice that they are still a kilometer away from me. Wanting to know who this Blue Devil is and about this world, I continue on their trail. As I get closer, I slow down my pace and try to make my movements as silent as possible.
Finally, I'm about 100 meters away from them. Peaking from behind a tree, I spy on them as they walk this way. Upon seeing them for the first time, my face lights up.
"Elves..."
Yes, the mythical race of Elves. Just how they are described in my world, they wear a green-colored outfit and have long pointy ears. Well, the male does. The person he is with is a female who was short pointy ears. She's still an elf, but maybe a half-elf or something?
Anyway, this is so cool! My first encounter in this world, if you don't count the dragon, will be with Elves! I'm so excited.
Out of all the races, Elves are on my top five favorite mythological anime race. Though that excitement got the better of me because I took a step forward to get a better look at them; however, there was a stick...
"Crack."
"!"
"!?"
Shit...
Both of the Elves spring into action, preparing themself for battle. The girl grabs her bow and prepares an arrow using a type of magic, while the male unshelves his sword. He then shouts in my direction.
"Who's there? Show yourself at once!"
I answer immediately.
"Eh! Please lower your weapons. It is I, a humble human, lost in this forest. I come unarmed, but can you please show me the way to get out of here?"
I move away from the trees and show myself to the Elves. Though, when they see me, all color drains from their faces.
"T-t-the Blue Devil!?"
"SEE! I told you so, Markus! Now, run as you have never had before back to the village!"
Both of them start dashes the direction they came at high speeds. I cock my head as they run.
"What did I do?"
Curious about why they are running away from me, I start running towards them and begin shouting, "Hey! Why are you running away!?"
I continue trailing them, though I stopped yelling until I reached a strange barrier. Well, it didn't stop me, but my gut told me to stop. When I do, I watch the elves disappear into the barrier. Well, disappear is a stretch. They are out of sight, but I still know that they are there, just beyond this barrier. That said, I feel that if I head into it, I'll be transported to the other side of whatever inside the barrier. Though I don't know why I feel that way...
"I guess I'll head back to the cave. It's getting dark after all."
Right... I guess I'll call that cave my home. That said, I don't remember the direction to get back to said cave.
"Great... I guess I'm lost inside this thick forest with no one around to help me."
...
