"Yawn!"
Ah, I got some good sleep, or the best sleep I can get on a rock-hard floor. I should start cutting some trees down so I can at least make a bed. Well, I'll need some chickens or some bedding... Eh, I'll think about that for a later time.
Yesterday night, I spend my time getting used to the database of books and reading a couple of them. I wasted some minutes reading first but finally decided to read the books about elves first. Since I just met some, I wanted to know more about them. I was also curious about why books about races are within my database meant only for things related to magic - though; I guess elves could use magic...
I spend an hour reading that book, and I got many of my questions answered and more. First, Elves has enormous lifespans. They typically live around 600-700 years though some have lived past 900. To distinguish between age, they use a unique aging ranking. Those who are under 100 years old are first-rates. Those 200 years olds are 2nd-rates, and the list goes on. Any elf that has lived past 999 years old are called EX-rates.
Elves also have a unique society ranking: level 0, level 1, level 2, level 3, level 4, and level 5. Citizens who are level 0 are normal people or commoners. Level 1 citizens are store or business owners. Level 2 citizens are those who are in the military. Level 3 citizens are landowners. Level 4 and level 5 are unique.
Elvania is not under a monarchy, nor is it a republic. They use two councils to determine laws or what happens within the Kingdom. Level 4 is the secondary council, which is used for initial laws and criminals. Any important business to final says goes to the central council, which are level 5.
The secondary council has a nineteen member while the central council only has nine. There were many initial problems with this government at first, but since the kingdom of Elvania is unique, it all worked out in the end. One major thing was that this kingdom has only 1 major city, Elvania. There are a couple of settlements or villages around the world to interact with other races.
It was made like this so that they could hide easier. If they had more than one city, there is an increased chance of being found. Also, they could decrease the use or power of their special ability.
The elf race was given a unique magical ability - Barrier magic. Other races can use this type of magic, but it is harder for them to master it or to use it at all. Elves, on the other hand, can wield this magic at ease. Plus, elves' barriers have another unique trait. That trait allows them to hide within the barrier.
When I was following those elves, it seemed like they disappeared within a wall. That is exactly what happened. That wall was the elves barrier. It makes it so that if anyone enters, they would be teleported to the other side of the barrier seamlessly. It also makes it look as if the other side is supposed to be there. A beneficial ability to have to hide...
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
The reason why the race of elves is in my database isn't because of their special magic. It's that all races have magic and mana within themselves. It shows how mana works within elves and how elves can use magic. It's not that interesting so I left it out. Anyway, after learning about elves, I used the remaining two hours to learn about magic.
To sum that up, mana exists within all creatures. How much mana something has is called mana capacity. Those with higher capacity can use higher magic spells or cast multiple spells within a day. If a user tries to cast a spell that requires more mana than the user has, it creates excess mana and completely drains the user mana. This will cause the user to collapse.
Everything also has a magic aptitude. This is determined at birth and shows how a person can connect with magic. If you have a high aptitude, you can use greater spells, multiple spells at once, and different types of spells. Magic aptitude is divided into different segments called elements: Fire, Water, Ground, Wind, Light, Dark, Null, Space, and Extra.
Most of the elements are self explanatory. Extra, on the other hand, is unique. It is here for those spells that don't have a segment or element. For example, Mind Read is a spell that isn't within any other element. Extra magicians are rare, and most people don't even try to learn any spells within the element. Though, spells under this classification are the strongest.
When casting with an element, the color of the magic circle created will change to the color of the element. For example, a fire spell will use a red magic circle. With this said, when casting any spells, a magic circle will be created. The magic circle is the brain of the spell. It takes the mana that you have in your body and transforms it into reality.
There are two ways to cast a spell, chanting or manual. Chanting requires less mana and time, depending on the spell, and automatically creates the circle for you. Manual requires you to adjust the magic circle to your wish manually. Due to longer and more difficult spells, it can take a while to manual create the spell; however, it is more powerful than chanting. Also, it is harder for the opponent to know what you are creating.
Some skilled chanters can use silent chant, which is the same as chant but in your head. The output is still the same as chanting, but the opponent will not figure out what you are doing. It is harder to silent cast, so the majority of magicians use chants. I made up my mind and tried to be a magician that only uses manual spells... I don't know why.
And that is about the gist of things. It a bit too much information so I'll just read one book a day. That might help me memorize some things.
"Sigh"
What should I do today? Hmm... I guess I can try casting some spells. Ooh! Didn't I also get the ability to fly? I want to test that out immediately!
"!"
As I was thinking, something hits my mind. It feels like a presence that is aiming for my cave or me directly. It's coming from the direction of that barrier. Maybe it those elves from yesterday? I guess I can take a peep.
With new plans, I activate my teleportation spell and teleport to a tree near the barrier. Once I was there, I saw an alone elf stepping through the barrier.
