Chapter 124, Arc 7

Third Person's POV;

Nami was worried, even slightly fearful. They had just now heard that there are over a dozen warships with a direct course at them. She knew that the Sunny was a strong and good ship, but she was not sure if it would not survive a fight against these numbers. And if the Sunny couldn't survive such a fight, then how could the ship of the Kage Pirates?

“Noji, you have to convince Lia that these are too many for us!” She pleaded to her elder sister while they walked out of the ship.

“Calm down Nai-chan, they aren't even super-sized according to Noa. And Lia is grumpy, dissuading her from this is neigh to impossible,” replied Nojiko with an amused smile at Nami's fear.

They were now outside and Nami tried to look over to where Noa said the ships were coming from. And sure enough, she could see the ships advancing on them. They came directly at them and in a pyramid formation. They'll collide with them if done nothing.

“Fiara, activate the cannons. I want to sail right through them and show this fucker Doflamingo that I am not amused,” shouted Lia over to the tiny woman. Fiara jumped over to a large console and placed her robotic arms inside holes. From below her feet, the ship began to rumble and clack. Fiara then saluted to Lia.

“Heh, you think he knows what we have done?” Asked Jonny everyone present with a laugh.

“What have you done?” Asked Nami, next to the fox woman, the only one who did not know the inside joke.

“Ah, you know. We stole a Mythical Zoan Fruit from him and in return gave him a pretty weak Paramecia. That was right after Alabasta, we were wondering what takes him so long to react,” answered Josef as if it would be normal to steal from one of the Seven Warlords.

Nami could only gap at them. Not even Luffy would be that.., okay Luffy could be that stupid. But no one in their right mind would steal something this valuable from a Warlord.

Suddenly the ship made a lurch forward and increased in speed, it quickly got faster until it was cutting through the sea quicker than any ship Nami had ever seen. The warships, which were tiny dots only a moment ago, began to fill out quickly.

“Cannons ready and loaded, Lia,” shouted the Tontatta from her position. Nami turned to Nojiko and wanted to ask how a few cannons would help against this small armada, but Nojiko was no longer standing next to her.

She quickly tried to find her sister, but couldn't see her anywhere. “Boys get ready for boarding, there are quite a few people on deck,” shouted Nojiko suddenly from above. Nami looked up and found her sister hanging on a tow, her strange rifle ready to shoot.

“Let's get rid of the front ship, it's in the way!” Ordered Lia, the next second four cannons shot simultaneously their payload. Nami only had enough time to think that it must be cannons inside the front of the ship when a second volley fired. Quickly followed by a third.

A dozen projectiles raced at the lead enemy ship, some got shot out of the sky by skilled sharpshooters, but the majority hit true and ripped the ship apart. At least eight explosions destroyed the front of the ship and caused it to sink. Nami also noted that the ship was sinking a lot faster than normal.

By now the hostile ships were also close enough to return fire, close to twenty cannonballs were coming at them. However, their ship was way too fast. The cannoneers haven't taken into account that the ship was moving this quickly.

The ship of the Kage Pirates was in their midst before they could fire a second time. For the next few seconds Nami could do nothing but watch in awe how dozen upon dozen cannonballs were shot out of their single lone ship. She didn't know how, but the cannons of the Kage Pirates were shooting one cannonball each second. Even Ussop could only shoot every three to five seconds and that was with him completely focused on the cannon.

The highly explosive deadly metal was ploughing through the wood with ease and then exploded with tremendous force. The first two ships they passed had not even time to shoot back before they got ripped apart.

Again, Nami did not know how, but it looked as if the other ships were also not able to shoot back. Either because they were too slow or through other problems she couldn't see. Some of these ships even exploded without any attack of the Raptor.

Later she would learn that it was because of Lia. She was keeping track of every cannoneer with her Observation Haki and would then take all the explosive pressure behind the fired cannon. The cannonball would be left stuck in the cannon and explode on its own after a moment.

What she did notice was that Lia was standing in the middle of the deck and had her eyes closed, while her hands were clasped together. She looked to be concentrating strongly. Nami did not know why she was this focused. She heard that Lia could increase the speed of their ship, maybe it was that?

Whatever it was, they passed through the formation of enemy ships without getting even a single shot back. The opposite was the case, this single pass was enough to sink four more ships. It also meant that there were ten more to destroy.

However, what Nojiko has said came as well. They had passed the hostile ships closely and there was more than one desperate pirate on the other side. Close to four dozen have jumped over, but only twenty or so did manage to land on the Raptor.

One of them had jumped right at Nami. She wanted to unfold her staff but realized in horror that it was still in Nojiko's room. The shock cost her the time to react. Her attacker was already grinning in victory when suddenly five tiny bone projectiles stopped him mid-flight.

Josef has had seen Nami's predicament and had shot his finger bones off. The lethal turned bones had enough force to change the flight path of Nami's attacker. The now dead man got thrown back overboard and vanished in the sea.

Nami looked over at Josef, nodding to him in thanks, but saw that he was no longer giving her any attention. A man was trying to kill him as well. Josef had ducked under a punch and struck back with his elbow.

What would have been a strong hit, became a deadly attack when a sharp bone came out of Josef's elbow. The sharp and pointy end pierced through the soft skin on the underside of the head and got then shot off. A massive hole opened on the other side of his attackers head and he fell dead to the ground.

Josef simply stepped over the dead body and formed dual pistols with his hands. He then rapidly fired his finger bones at three pirates. The tiny, but deadly, bones were shot off with such speed and force that they punctured through both cloth and flesh.

Nami was gaping at Josef's fight. The doctor of the Kage Pirates had just now killed five pirates of a Warlords crew in under ten seconds. A look around showed that he was not the only one who was easily dispatching their enemy.

Every one of the Kage Pirates was swift, effective and above all deadly. None of them looked even faced by the brief fight.

“Fiara, activate the ship defence, I don't want to have any more vermin on our ship,” ordered Lia suddenly. She was the only one that had done nothing in the fight. She still had her eyes closed and hands clasped together.

Whatever Fiara did, it had an immediate effect. Hidden compartments all over the deck suddenly sprung open and machines popped up. These machines were obviously some kind of shooting mechanism. They had six rifle muzzles with dials attached to them. Nami didn't know exactly what they would do, but a guess wasn't hard.

“Some of them know Geppo!” Shouted Noa in warning, while pointing into the air. Nami followed the finger and saw that there were at least thirty pirates flying like the CP 9 agents. They were coming at them in a formation, with shields in their hands against bullets.

The ships defence began to whirl around and aimed at the first formation of five pirates. What followed was a low hum and then a literal rain of cloud bullets. Six bullets were fired, then the mechanism rotated and fired another six. They fired so quickly that Nami had trouble seeing the rotations.

Its target got pelted by dozens and then hundreds of bullets before their shields failed them, dented and riddled with bullet holes. But that was not the only formation under heavy fire. There were two more of these gun nests. All three were pumping out bullets faster than a whole troop of trained soldiers.

Still, there were too many approaching pirates, the shields were quickly enforced by Haki and began to withstand the rain of cloud bullets. They were slower now but were closing in.

“Hehehe, let's test our close combat defence system,” giggled Fiara suddenly gleefully. Another clacking sound rang through the ship. A sound that Nami already knew came before something of the ship activated.

Nothing on deck changed, so she looked over the railing. She quickly saw what would now happen and almost felt pity. All over the sides of the ship were flamethrowers positioned. They aimed at the incoming pirates and began to spit fire. The closely knit group of pirates were easy to target and had to break formation if they did not want to get roasted. A move that allowed the still firing weapons to take out those without shields.

Still, these were strong pirates from the New World. Not all of them got killed by the fire or continued bullet-rain. A few were good enough with their Haki to withstand the attack. Those had a few short seconds to celebrate before they got under fire from Nojiko. Her assault rifle was easily five times stronger than the rotating ship defence. Her sniper even close to twenty times. Neither Haki enhanced shields, nor hastily done evasive moves could save them.

Nojiko had just shot the last attacker out of the air when Lia opened her eyes. “Finished!” she declared suddenly. She pulled her hands apart, only to then clap once. Nami looked at her, not seeing what she had finished. But then, suddenly, she heard it and shortly after felt.

Nami turned around and saw two large spheres of white, one on each side of the fleet behind them. They grew in size and became massive domes which encompassed each a couple of warships.

The ships first got pushed away, but the sphere was expanding faster than they could move away. The sphere was then ripping, crushing and pushing on the ships until it got cut, crunched and ripped into tiny pieces. Nothing withstood the force, wood, metal and flesh got equally shredded.

Both spheres got large enough to each destroy three ships, which left only four. Those were with their stern to the Raptor, while the Raptor had almost finished its turn. Simply said the enemy was fucked.

“Firing the main cannon!” Announced Fiara gleefully. The eagle figure on the front of the Raptor opened its beak and began to glow in a light Nami knew from the Sunny. It charged its particle laser and then fired a large deadly beam. The attack hit the first ship almost instantly and punched a hole from one side to the other without any visible trouble.

The attack continued and hit one more ship before it sizzled out. What once was a small armada of fifteen warships was now reduced to only two operational ships. Debris of more than a dozen ships was filling the sea, intermixed with the bodies of hundreds of people.

“Good, it seems as if our ship weapons are all in order,” said Lia with a satisfied nod. She then pulled two pebbles out of her pouch. One looked like stone and the other like metal. She flicked them at the remaining two ships. The stone pebble hit the steering oar of the closer ship and crippled the warship.

The other pebble was different. It wasn't as if a tiny bullet hit something, no it looked as if something massively heavy impacted with the ship. The whole stern got destroyed and the ship got pushed a little forward. The pebble punched through the whole ship and was aimed at such an angle that it came out on the other side below the sea. The result was another destroyed ship.

It told Nami that Lia could have done this to the other ships as well. Lia didn't look winded at all, she had destroyed a warship with the easy of battling a fly away. A scary sight for the Straw Hat navigator. Not for the first time during this battle did she think over the difference in strength between her friends and the friends of her sister.

“We'll leave the last ship alone. They can report to Doflamingo about their failure. Fiara, start the engines, it's time to break into a prison,” ordered Lia after nodding at the result of her attack. She looked a lot calm now than during breakfast. As if the whole battle was not stressful but some kind of stress relieve.

The ship under them began to move and clack. The pontoons moved under the ship and gates on the stern of the ship opened. “Engines will need ten minutes to produce enough steam without Lara,” announced Fiara. She was still standing behind the large console.

“We have time,” dismissed Lia with a wave of her hand. Ten minutes later Nami was witness to a feat not even the Sunny could do. Steam started to push the Raptor forward and made the ship even faster than before. Wings on the side of the ship began to lift the ship up and within moments the ship began to fly. It gained altitude and left the battlefield behind without having suffered any damage at all.

Doflamingo would not be amused when he will hear about this complete failure.
