Chapter 12, Arc 2

Lara's POV;

“Search her house”, ordered the marine and a series of Yes Sir! followed.

Nami shouted for them to stop, but they didn't listen, so she used her staff to beat them down.

“What is the meaning of this? Shouldn't you marines have something better to do? Like getting rid of Arlong? He's killing people and suppressing villages. The people here are slaves to him, is that how the World Government prioritise things?!”, she demanded to know.

The mouse like captain dismissed her with a click of her tongue and ordered his men to continue.

“Sir, the orange tangerines look suspicious”, reported a marine a moment later.

“Then rip them out, it doesn't matter what we do to a thief”, said the mouse or better rat casually.

Overcome by rage Nami attacked the marines again. “Hand's of Bellemere's trees, the money isn't for you, it's for!”, screamed Nami.

“For us villagers. It's for the sake of everyone in Cocoyashi village, do you still think you have any right to it?!”, screamed the windmill man now. Nami looked at him in terror.

“Gen? How do...you know...that?”, she asked in a whisper. I could only pick it up thanks to my good ears.

“We always knew,... from the beginning”, he said gravely and with shadowed eyes, “We didn't want to put pressure on you, we thought you might feel compelled to stay if you knew that we know”, he continued.

“Chichichi, so that means that we should arrest the whole village for cooperating with a thief?”, asked the rat with a wide grin.

“If you from the World Government aren't here to protect us then leave, Arlong might sink your ship if you linger around for too long!”, shouted another person suddenly. It was Nojiko, she was back from her walk.

“I wonder about that, I don't think Arlong will do that, chichichi”, said the rat with a wide evil grin.

Now Nami was even too shocked to say anything anymore. “Have you not found it already? You're not looking for a few thousand Berry. Roughly a hundred million Berry shouldn't be too hard to find”, shouted the rat to his minions.

“How do you know how much there is?!”, shouted the windmill man at him.

“Just a hunch, chichichi”, laughed the captain.

“WHAS THIS ARLONG'S IDEAR!”, demanded Nami to know. Rage and utter fear ruled her expression.

“I wouldn't go that far..., we are merely doing our work as officers of the World Government. It's our duty to persecute thieves”, replied the rat with a wide grin. “Take them away, they hinder the search”, he added to his soldiers and a line of guns was directed at the three.

“That's our signal”, I whispered and Lia flicked her finger. Five loud pings and all five marines fell down. A hole in their head killed them and stopped the attack on Nojiko.

“WHAT!?”, shouted the rat.

“Finally, the guy we were searching for. Would you be kind enough to hand over your ship”, I asked while coming from around the house. I did jump down before showing myself. It might not be good to tell them that I have listened in on the whole thing.

“Who are you? Do you know who we are? I am a marine captain, I represent the World Government”, asked the rat with some fear.

“You are some marine that looks to be corrupt and in possession of a ship that I want. Anyone who stands in my way will die”, I replied and drew my sword. I haven't given it a name yet. Should do that soon, maybe Lunare or some other women name?

“You're just a little girl, what can you do? Now put that sword away and don't resist the arrest”, laughed the rat.

“Appearance is not everything”, I said and used a Soru to get in range. I reappeared for their eyes directly in front of the rat and then raised my sword in a diagonal cut. His head did not resist and was cut off instantly and without any rough sides too. A clean slice through flesh and bone.

“Captain Nesumi!”, cried the remaining marines in shock. They all raised their guns and shot. I tracked the bullets with my eyes and used Kami-e to evade those that would hit me and deflected those that would hit Nami, Nojiko, and the windmill guy if I would have evaded.

“Last warning, leave or die. And don't go to your ship, that's mine now”, I said seriously. They took one more look at me and then run. Some even dropped their swords and guns.

“Thank you, you are Lara aren't you”, said Nojiko once they were all gone. She looked really relieved but also worried. The same with the windmill guy. But Nami wasn't paying attention to anything, she suddenly turned around and run away.

“What's up with her?”, I asked in faked ignorance.

“Arlong betrayed us, he never intended for us to get free”, answered Nojiko sadly.

“Huh, he got worse”, I said with a shrug. Arlong was an asshole while we sailed with him and the Sun Pirates, but seeing it was different from reading it in a manga.

“This isn't the first time you said something like this. Do you know him?”, asked Nojiko now warily.

“Long story, might tell you later. For now, I pay him a visit and tell him my opinion on all this”, I said and left with my sword shouldered.

Lia's POV;

I started to hum a nice little song while using Geppo to reach the marine ship. Lara would handle them on land, but I had to secure us a ship. It was not a big ship. You wouldn't need many people to sail it, perfect for us. Still, it was large enough to house thirty marines and the crew.

I landed on deck and looked around. There were only a handful of presences on it. One of them was staring at me with wide eyes. I grabbed him and threw him overboard. Killing them here would be only bloody and we would have to clean it later.

With a leisure pace I began to get rid of the marine infestation and threw one after the other into the water. They weren't dead and the shore is near enough to reach by swimming. Lara said I shouldn't kill them, we might not get a bounty if everyone of them dies.

The next thing on my list was to lift the anchor and bring it somewhere where no one would find us. And then I can start with the renovation of the ship.

Lara's POV;

I reached Arlong Park a few minutes later. Yosaku and Johnny were guarding the entrance, their blades crossed. “Halt, we are guarding this gate until brother Luffy and brother Zoro arrive”, said one of them. I was not yet able to identify who was who.

“That's fine by me, I'm just here to kick Arlong around for a moment”, I said and continued on my path.

“We can't let a young girl like you get killed by him”, said one of them in protest. He tried to stop me but I ducked under him and walked past the two.

Now near enough to look cool, but not monstrous, I used my sword and cut a neat little hole into the gate. I stepped through it and ignored the dump stuck looks of the guys behind me.

“Who're you?”, asked a fishman who tried to grab me. I simply cut his hands off.

“Heyo Arlong, long time no seen! What is that I hear? You're bullying the weak”, I called out. Many fishmen turned around and saw their bleeding comrade. Arlong saw me too and anger creped into his eyes.

“You're one of the twins”, he snarled. “I thought your father would raise you properly. Too bad that I now have to kill you for wounding one of my comrades”, he continued and gestured to a group of three fishman with swords.

They rushed at me with a battle cry and attacked at once. I waited for the last second and then cut their blades in two. My now raised sword made a downwards arc and cut the arms of all three of them off.

“Johnny, who is this strong sister?”, asked Yosaku from behind me. They must have watched through the hole in the gate. “I don't know Yosaku”, answered the other.

“How dare you, I will....”, began Arlong. He was interrupted by the sudden foot in his face. It wasn't mine but Luffy's.

Arlong was shot out of his chair and crashed into a wall. “Was that Arlong?”, asked Luffy then.

“Yes, but he was talking to me”, I said with a wry smile. Luffy was exactly as strange as the manga made him be.

“Oh sorry I guess, but I have to beat him up for making my navigator cry. I'm Luffy by the way”, he said to me with an apologetic expression.

“Lara, and it's okay, wasn't important anyway. I guess I will have to be satisfied with beating up his goons”, I said with a shrug and cut the head of a fishman off that thought it was a good idea to make a sneak attack.

“I'LL KILL YOU!”. Arlong jumped out of the rubble and directly at Luffy, aiming a hit to his head. He was so slow, eight years of doing nothing has made him seriously weak. Yet either not slow enough for Luffy to evade or the rubber man did not deem it necessary.

His elongating neck to judge after the later. “[GumGum Headbutt]!”, shouted Luffy before snapping his head back and hitting Arlong on the forehead. It made something like a loud bang sound, but Arlong did not react, he only glared down at Luffy.

“Time to die missy”, proclaimed a nearby fishman. Don't they see that I want to watch the fight?

All of them were using a form of close combat, well all but the spitting idiot. None of them had a gun.

The guy with big lips shot a small jet of water at me that I easily evaded. Another two tried to block me so that evasion was no longer possible. However, I just rushed forward and cut the lips of the guy off before he could fire a second shot.

He howled in pain and grabbed his bloody mouth. “You were so ugly I thought I will give you some beauty tips”, I said with a grin. He glared at me and tried to swing a fist into my face. The fist and arm was quickly cut off and he left to bleed to death.

The other fishmen were now warier. I have taken out their men without getting a single wound.

“She beat Chew as if he was nothing”, shouted one of them in shock. So this guy was someone strong? East Blue is seriously weak. He wouldn't even have been a Genin back in Uzu Empire.

“Let me handle her, she uses a sword. And a single one has no chance against my six sword style”, proclaimed Hatchan, the first I have to leave alive and not cripple. The things I have to do for plot's sake.

A kick in the face should be enough. A Soru brought me into his guard, a short jump at eye level and a kick to his head send him out to the sea. As a fishman he won't drown. But his head will ring for a few days and his jaw is sure to be broken.

“SHE TOOK OUT HATCHAN!”, shouted the gallery. I looked around and saw that the villagers were now watching as well. They were watching us through the destroyed gate. Yosaku and Johnny were on the wall with Sanji, Zoro and Ussop next to them.

“She looked over to us, an elven goddess looked at me!”, gushed Sanji instantly and with hearts in his eyes. He twirled towards me and kicked any incoming fishmen into the ground before kneeling in front of me.

“What is a beautiful young lady such as you doing here in a stinking fish festered environment. Aren't you better home with your elven sisters?”, he asked and tried to grab my hand, which I swiftly stopped. Sanji might be somewhat funny, but I was not into men and he has a creepy expression.

“Lara, who's that?”, asked suddenly my lovely sister from the top of another wall. Both I and Sanji looked at her.

“Oh my god, two goddesses of the woods”, shouted Sanji. He jumped up and began his twirl towards Lia, again with smacking every fishmen in reach into the ground, most of them did just stand up from the previous smackdown, and kneeled down next to her on the wall.

He opened his mouth to say something but got bitch slapped into the wall next to Zoro. “What a creepy guy. He tried to kiss my hand”, muttered Lia before jumping next to me. She gave me a quick kiss and then took in the scenery. And so did I.

Luffy had just managed to put his feet into bettong, so I helped him a little by letting it vibrate. The vibration cracked the hard stone a little and he could escape before Arlong managed to throw him into the water. Their fight started anew and Arlong was kicked into the big house.

There were also the fishmen that were now too wary of attacking me and Zoro's group. Sanji was already back up and gushing about us, Ussop was shaking in his shoes and Zoro was eyeing me and my sword with a battle hungry glint.

Then there were Nami, Nojiko, Johnny, Yosaku and the villagers. All of them watching in stunned silence. And now the latest addition, my Lia with a bored frown. She hates to fight weaklings, makes her often more brutal than necessary.

“Don't be too brutal, we want some of the onlookers in our crew”, I whispered. Lia gave me a nod and pulled twenty pebbles out. With a swing of her hand every pebble was shot off and a cacophony of “URGh!”, in combination with twenty falling bodies showed me that she hit true.

“Where those pebbles?”, shouted Ussop in fright, praise where praise is due. He has good eyes.

A quick glance confirmed that there were no fishmen other than Arlong on their legs, so I grabbed Lia's hand and walked over to Zoro and his group.
