Chapter 73 – Reversal of Situation

Chapter 73 – Reversal of Situation

Two Emperor Domain cultivators were exchanging Qi blasts with Wu-Ming from a safe distance. They were stalling until the formations were ready. Wu-Ming’s stamina was slightly lower than theirs at the moment so when it comes to an endurance battle, he is at a huge disadvantage. The main reason why Wu-Ming isn’t moving much or escaping is because of the gashing wound on his arm that contained a noxious poison that threatens to invade his heart and end his life.

There’s no way he could continue moving for long! One drop of that could already kill an Emperor Domain beast! Jer-Ra smirked to himself as he noticed one of the formation was nearing completion. He was actually hired by a specific person to take down Wu-Ming before he reaches the Thousand Swords Graveyard. One person’s success is another person’s jealousy. In reality only the Emperor Domain experts along with Jer-Ra were commissioned to deal with Wu-Ming, the rest were easily recruited once they were presented a chance to get rid of their nemesis. Even the formation artifacts that were considered top sacred treasures of his organization were provided to get the job done.

An eerie grey glow suddenly appeared out of nowhere and enveloped Wu-Ming, trapping him in a cylinder shaped prison. The cylinder prison was thicker than a castle’s wall and although it is partially transparent, one could tell that it could restrain the previous peak Emperor Domain beast with ease. Even if this was a formation driven by an artifact that contained no essence, it was still powered by an Emperor Domain expert and dozens of King Domain cultivators. Ordinary cultivators of similar level would be hopeless imprisoned indefinitely.

At the same time an outline of a massive illusionary spear appeared above Wu-Ming and its murderous aura pressed down against him with terrifying might. The spear was nearly the same size of the fallen reptile beast but the energy discharged was even more violent and overbearing. Its strident aura alone could devastate a whole town. This was the might of an artifact with an essence! It seems like the benefactor for this whole assassination attempt was prepared to go all out to get rid of Wu-Ming. The mysterious artifact glowed and a circular stream of Qi could be seen rotating inside it. In parallel the spear above started materializing slowly, preparing to drill into its target. As more Qi was infused into the artifact, the stronger the rotation. It can be easily deduced that once the rotation of Qi reaches a critical point the unstoppable spear will descend upon the restrained Wu-Ming.

The glee on the remaining people that did not flee after the beast was defeated was evident. Their egocentric attitude can no longer be contained as the illusionary spear contruction reached a critical point. Especially Jer-Ra, the de facto leader of the group. Letting out a proud and conceited smirk he taunted Wu-Ming about his impending doom.

Out of nowhere two whistling sound could be heard. Specs of Qi could be sensed by some in this group of experts. Most were too preoccupied with Wu-Ming’s incoming demise and ignored all else. Those who did sense the incoming danger couldn’t do anything about it since abandoning the formation could destroy the effort they had built up until now. In their hearts they were thinking what could a Qi blast do anyways? All of the Emperor Domain experts naturally sensed it and ignored the foreign sent at them since it was backed by King Domain Qi and would not be able to critically wound them. Also it was just a few more seconds before Wu-Ming’s death.

That’s where they were completely wrong. Ryu used the Phoenix Holocaust from the Eternal Phoenix School that was meant to dish out complete and utter destruction. Two types of flames were needed to execute this deadly move. The deadly explosion produced will carry the characteristics from the two flames used.

The pot-like artifact with the essence at this point emitted a dark red glow that would petrify any expert. It was one of the few types of objects that could contain and augment the Qi of many. Combined with an essence, the savage aura it emitted was tyrannical. Its edges suddenly seeped out a blinding light and the words “Hundred Illusionary Spear” slowly appeared on it. This brought the anticipation from the evil group to another level.

Bang! An earth shattering sound exploded as the two Qi blasts that was ignored collided and created a ghastly horrible explosion that could take out a whole village. The point of impact was between the two groups powering the two formations. All the trees and vegetation within three hundred meters were disintegrated into nothingness. The blinding light from the explosion lasted for a few second and afterwards a gigantic crater could be seen. Everything in sight was covered by a white-blueish flame. The group of cultivators managed to guard themselves with Qi but the flames were perpetually burning away at their defense.

All hell broke loose right after. A huge commotion not unlike a riot followed. Nobody really knew the cause behind what just happened. A free-for-all anarchism quarrel started between the previously smug group awaiting Wu-Ming’s death.

“Ah die you demon!”

“Spare me, it burns!”

“Get it off me, get it off me I tell you!”

More than half the King Domain experts started attacking each other. These were not light exchanges, they went all out. Spears, swords, maces, daggers, and such were directed at each other, aiming to take the life of the ones at the receiving end. The other half were just busy trying to put out the fire that threatens to burn them alive. No matter how they tried, the fire ate away ate their defensive Qi cladded around themselves.

“You fools, what have gotten into all of you?” Jer-Ra shouted desperately over the suddenly uncontrollable crowd. He barely managed to put out the uncanny flame that attacked him. His shout only made him the target of a group of King Domain experts that have abruptly lost their mind.

“They have all gone insane!” Another Emperor Domain expert said frantically. Even if they were one domain above the rest, handling over a hundred King Domain cultivators would not be an easy feat for the five of them.

“The formations, it broke! Oh no!” One female Emperor Domain practitioner said dreadfully as she noticed Wu-Ming’s disappearance from above. Jer-Ra’s face sank and turned morbidly pale. The repercussion from this was colossal. Forgetting the loss of reputation and the shame he would bring upon his organization, the Poison Massacre Guild. The person who commissioned him along with the other Emperor Domain experts was an influential being that could uproot a regular sect overnight if he wished. His guild went as far as providing two formation artifacts worth tens of millions of gold for this occasion. There’s a good chance his life would be forfeited if he failed!

Lastly there is Wu-Ming himself! This group had openly challenged him and even lured him into a trap by colluding with his own clan members that were displeased with his fame. Wu-Ming would definitely not let this go and hunt them all down personally in the future! Wu-Ming is like a god of war that could not be stopped by regular means which is why he was even hired to take care of him in the first place.

Even if the Emperor Domain cultivators wanted to pursue Wu-Ming now, they had no idea where he went! They lost track of where he went during that random explosion and right now more than half of the King Domain experts they recruited were pouncing at them. Those who didn’t lose their mind fled as they tried to get rid of the undying flames burning away at them.

This left them no choice but to defend against the rogue King Domain cultivators. These King Domain experts were all relatively famous figures that are armed with rare and powerful weapons. The problem is that they can’t kill them because news of this would spread. The majority of these King Domain experts had ties to powerful sects, organizations and even empires! Although they came here to hunt down Wu-Ming out of their own free will, if they were killed by someone else other than Wu-Ming then their backers would definitely seek revenge! Getting killed by Wu-Ming would not ignite such a response since he was the target, it’s natural he would fight back. Getting killed by a comrade during a failed group assassination attempt on the other hand would be looked down upon on and despised. One of the Emperor Domain expert saw this as a lose-lose situation and ran for his life.

“Don’t run! We… we have to find him!” One Emperor Domain expert shouted after his departing companion. If they don’t finish Wu-Ming right here and now, they would have to spend the rest of their lives hiding. Not to mention the humiliation that’ll come with this epic failure.

“There’s no need to look, I’m right here!” A courageous voice boomed out through the forest. At the same time the fierce dauntless roar blasted into the hysteric crowd. Sending plenty of people flying backwards and knocking most of them out. The ones that managed to hang on to their consciousness regained their sanity after the loud roar and ran for their lives.  A flash of golden light descended from the sky and at the end stood one lone man with a fearless look that could send chills down anyone’s back. Wu-Ming’s imposing aura was as strong as ever and he heroically awaited for the four remaining Emperor Domain experts to make their move.

“Impossible…” Jer-Ra muttered to himself, Wu-Ming had been infected by one of the consummate poison from his organization. One drop of it was a million gold coins! The remaining four Emperor Domain experts had been acquaintances for centuries and they all had the same thought, they must risk their lives right now and take down Wu-Ming or it’ll be the end for them.

Releasing their maximum aura, they flew towards Wu-Ming in brilliant streaks of light. Wu-Ming stood still as the four entered within his range. One instance the four struck out with their various attacks, their fists and weapons were one inch away from Wu-Ming’s skin. Yet Wu-Ming still did nothing. The next instance, three assailants were sent flying outwards in the same direction. Their states were miserable, broken bones were protruding out and palm marks that were inches deep were forever engraved into their chests. The last person was held by the neck by Wu-Ming’s left hand. This person was Jer-Ra, the ring leader of this whole fiasco.

“Here, I’ll return this to you!” Wu-Ming said coldly as he revealed his right hand. In between his fingers were a few drops of tainted blood that had turned into a dark ruby color. A malicious aura was emitted from it. This was all the blood infected from the poisonous arrow shot out by Jer-Ra, Wu-Ming had managed to expel the poisoned blood completely.

“No!” Jer-Ra screamed out in fear as he realized what was happening next. Before he could start begging for his life, the ball of contaminated blood slammed into Jer-Ra’s chest and invaded his whole body. Wu-Ming dropped the twitching body and picked up the two formation artifacts lying on the ground.

The three Emperor Domain that had been crippled by the single exchange earlier had long started fleeing. The last exchange had shattered their hope of defeating Wu-Ming, his superior might had been demonstrated clearly jus now. In their hearts they were all thinking the same thing. What the hell were they thinking taking this inhuman person on? He was not a legend for no reason. They had no doubt that he was a true Chosen.

“Did you humans think you could get away with enslaving me? The great King Huskor? I’m a Kaiser Crocodile!” A petrifying voice resonated through the forest and sent the three reeling backwards from excruciating pain. The perturbing voice carried lethal profound Qi that smashed against their inner organs. The voice was not as loud as the roar unleashed by Wu-Ming earlier but it was ten times more piercing.

A distinguished old man walked out of nowhere walked slowly towards them. With each step taken by the old man, they literally felt something stabbing at their Qi reservoir. An increasing pressure pressed down against them and threaten to cause them to implode at any moment. The impossibly strong pressure had completely taken away their freedom to move and even the ability to speak.

“Using me like some kind of slave, you despicable humans think you are that much better?”

The three Emperor Domain experts now had a suffocating expression across their faces. The only thing they could barely do was shake their heads. Slowly they realized who this old man was, he was the reptile beast that released against Wu-Ming earlier. They thought Wu-Ming had fatally wounded the peak Domain Emperor beast so they gave up on utilizing him. It turns out Wu-Ming actually tried to free the beast previously by temporary stopping its heart!

Knowing that the approaching being was a peak Emperor Domain beast that could kill them a hundred times over, its aura already suppressed them to the point where they can’t even breathe. Surprisingly two of the men out of the three targets started urinating uncontrollably. The old man chuckled as he walked towards them and then past them. A sign of relief could be seen on their faces as the restricting pressure dispersed as well. They instantly got up to flee. Suddenly the two men’s bodies split in half, right down the center. It seems that an extremely fast cut was made on the two of them and they didn’t even realize it. The only female Emperor Domain practitioner that didn’t wet herself earlier only managed to fly a few meters away before she got restrained by an unstoppable invisible force.

“You little wretch, I’ve been imprisoned for three thousand years. It’ll be your turn to be enslaved to me for the rest of your life! Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to return the favor tenfold!” As the old man spoke, a sinister expression appeared that would give most nightmares for life. The once proud female Emperor Domain expert couldn’t help but tremble uncontrollably at the thought and nearly became insane.

“Since you helped me escape from this slavery life, I’ll spare you today. Those pathetic humans couldn’t bring out even half of my true power. Next time we meet, I won’t be so gentle!” The old man turned his face towards Wu-Ming. Beasts also had their pride and those who reached higher levels in cultivations were actually more intelligent than most humans of the same level. He knew that Wu-Ming purposely held back in their duel earlier when he was forced by the group of humans to fight him. It was thanks to Wu-Ming’s careful planning that he was able to escape an eternal life of captivity. The old man and his victim shot off in a purple beam that caused a huge gust of wind which blew the unconscious bodies of the King Domain cultivators away.

“I would gladly accompany senior for a duel in the future!” Wu-Ming cupped his hands together respectfully and bowed before vanishing in thin air as well.
