Chapter 56 – The Two Journeys

Chapter 56 – The Two Journeys

Ryu prepared himself to finish the rest of the memories that the Mind Tome had recorded. He wasn’t quite sure how to proceed but one thing is for sure, he can’t leave Exoe with his grandparents. If he does leave on a journey with Exoe, he would have to secretly leave a clone but a second clone would split his main body’s supply of Qi even more.

Next image showed they were in the frozen continent. Exoe’s mother was found living in a small clan after being saved by them from her pursuers in the Heaven Continent. It seemed like her savior fancied her so he took her as a concubine. Seeing how her mother was mistreated even as she was on her death bed, Exoe went berserk and slaughtered everyone. No one was spared in this small clan, the elderly and even infants were killed mercilessly.

Later a woman found Exoe in grief alone on a mountain and tried to console him. One thing led to another and they were in love. However, her master was against it and gave Yuni an ultimatum. Knowing Yuni would choose her master, Exoe assassinated her master and made it looked like it was her sect punishing her for being with him. Yuni, oblivious to this followed him blindly back to the Heaven Continent.

In the name of justice, they did indeed wipe out many evil people, clans and even sects. However, this was done to calm his blood thirst unbeknownst to Yuni. A Lin Empire general finally took action and chased them down after a long pursuit. The general was one domain higher and Yuni begged Exoe to flee. Exoe was overconfident and decided to take the general on, in the end he was defeated and escaped with his essence. Yuni escaped too with a heavy wound though.

Later on Yuni managed to track down Exoe’s relatives as per his request. She gave them all their gold coins which amounted in the millions and helped established the Infernal Fist School before sealing herself and Exoe in the tomb. She was too blindly in love and didn’t realize Exoe’s plan was to wait for a descendant with high achievements in cultivation to find their tomb so he could forcefully take over his or her body! He can’t just take over an ordinary person’s body, it had to be compatible.

“So he didn’t have any noble intentions when he set up the Infernal Fist School…” Ryu said to himself with a sigh. After pondering for a while by himself, Ryu decided to play along with the founder’s scheme. Since his mental capacity has been reinforced by the tomes immeasurably, controlling multiple bodies is a piece of cake. He’ll set off on a journey with the founder while participating in the greatest swordsman’s competition.

Ryu’s main body had just arrived at the Fading Shadow City with the members of the Raging Thunder Sect. Ryu had to give props to Ling-Yu for persistence, she tried her best to start a conversation with Ryu while Ryu was focused on the events that unfolded with his clone in the Infernal Fist School. He was still contemplating how he should react around the founder. The founder was more vicious than he could have imagined, perhaps the essence of Sha-Hi-Ra, which Ryu suspects is the dark essence Exoe absorbed in his memory, is corrupting him.

“Hey!” Ling-Yu finally shot a bolt lightning at Ryu after being ignored all this time. Instinctively Ryu’s Qi reacted and guided the lightning straight into Ryu’s Qi channels, absorbing it seamlessly. Ryu had been cultivating with the colored lightning fruits which produced much more overbearing lightning Qi.

“Honorable doctor, what should we call you?” Elder Jin quickly asked to change the topic and preemptively stop Ling-Yu from creating more trouble.

“You can call me Dragon.” Ryu said simply as his mind snapped back to his surroundings. They were leaving the city and heading towards a camp about five kilometers away.

“We greatly appreciate you going out of you way to help our sect leader. If there’s anything you need of us in the future, please let us know.” Elder Jin said humbly.

Ryu nodded. He actually feels bad since he isn’t proficient in the medical area as the head of the Saint Jade Sect assumed. The Drunken Master Du-Bai might be a peerless eccentric doctor with a flawless reputation but he only passed the Drunken Dragon Fist down to him and gave him a few training items, he didn’t teach Ryu anything about curing illnesses. The only thing Ryu could hope for is that it is Qi related or else the knowledge from Alexis’s stash would have to do.

As they approached the edge of the camp, the guards immediately allowed them passage after seeing the two elders. These elders were in the upper King Domain so naturally they held high positions within the sect. Just like the Resilient Gaia Sect and the Saint Jade Sect, the majority of the people present are core disciples and elders.

They were just about to enter the main tent without any problems until a haughty man stopped them in their tracks. He wore a thin layer of armor and his build was muscular, it seems like he was a big shot in this sect. His arrogance was reflected on his face and in his behavior.

“Stop! How dare you bring a stranger to see the leader?” The man said with a frosty glare at the group.

“Young master Has-Tai. This is a doctor personally recommended by sect leader Sonia.” Elder Jin replied politely.

“This kid here? Impossible.” Has-Tai said without a second thought.

“Elder brother, this man is the one that provided the antidote for father the first time!” Ling-Er said as she stared into his eyes. She was confident that Ryu was the same person who saved them from the Forbidden Forest even though he denies it.

This finally got him thinking but after a few seconds he denied them entry still. “Who knows if the antidote you got from that stranger even worked, maybe father’s current condition is caused by it.”

“Are you just planning to let father die because of your stubbornness? Or are you hoping he’ll die?” Ling-Yu shouted angrily. It was nearly morning time, the sun was about to appear over the horizon any moment now. A few elders and core disciples came out to see what the commotion was about.

“How dare you…” Has-Tai replied with fury. “I am centuries older than you, show some respect!”

“What’s going on Elder Jin? Who’s this stranger you have brought over?” Another elderly old man spoke up. His eyes were bright and a stream of energy swirled around in them. Three other elders followed closely behind him.

The Infinity Tomes instantly flew around Ryu, ready to back him up. It seems like these people were hostile towards Ryu’s group.

These girls are like cockroaches, how are we going to get rid of them? They definitely can’t be allowed to succeed the headmaster! The one leading the group thought. Naturally the tome transmitted the thought to Ryu.

“Elder Gu, this guest is a famous doctor recommended by headmaster Sonia of the Saint Jade Sect.” Elder Cian said coldly. “Are you saying someone recommended by her has no qualification to see our headmaster?”

“You must be kidding, have you gone senile? Getting swindled by a young con artist.” Another elder behind Elder Gu spoke up. Without a warning he shot forward in a streak of lightning. Ryu was already prepared, he could easily tell that there was some tension between these elders. It seems Elder Jin and Cian were supporting the two girls here while the current ones outside were supporting this Has-Tai person.

The elder charging at Ryu was about to grab and strangle him when out of nowhere Ryu’s hand already grabbed his wrist. This elder grunted but couldn’t pull his hand back. The lightning he was discharging through his hand was getting absorbed into Ryu like a vacuum.

Sensing that something is wrong, two more elders attacked Ryu in a more blunt way. A huge lightning serpent came from one elder as he stood his ground and extended both hands outwards at Ryu. The other one charged forward with a yellow trident at frightening speed that’s faster than the Qi serpent.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Ryu was holding down one elder with his right hand, containing all the harmful lightning into his left hand’s index finger. Sending Qi down to beneath his feet, Ryu laid down tracks that allows him to maneuver swiftly in any direction he liked. This was one of the Drunken Dragon Fist’s stance, Riding the Eight Dragons. Just as the elder with the trident was about to strike. Ryu disappeared and reappeared past his trident and in front of him. With a powerful push, the elder restrained by Ryu slammed into the elder wielding the trident and the two flew towards the elder channeling the electric serpent like an arrow.

Obviously the elder channeling the long ranged Qi serpent would naturally dodge the incoming two elders but unexpectedly his legs had no strength. Ryu had already established a connection between them with the earth they stand on. As long as Ryu has a strand of Qi connected to his target, he can perform his Sage Arts that allows him to nullify Qi. The last elder’s feet was connected to the ground so the Qi nullification managed to disrupt all Qi entering his feet. Before he could investigate what’s wrong, the two elders slammed into him like a cannon ball. The trio was sent hurdling into another tent.

The electric Qi serpent finally arrived in front of Ryu and using his right hand once again, Ryu absorbed it and channeled it into his left index finger. The bystanders thought Ryu would dodge or at least repel the Qi serpent. None imagined he would raise one hand to stop it. After the Qi serpent completely dispersed, all its energy got directed and augmented into Ryu’s finger which contained two elders’ attacks’ Qi.

Elder Gu stood there dumbfounded but quickly regained his composure. He was one of the two strongest elders in the sect, he couldn’t be seen jointly attacking a junior so he hasn’t made a move yet. In fact, to save face he was waiting for Ryu to attack.

Has-Tai stood there like a statue, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Ryu suddenly disappeared from his line of vision and appeared in front of him. Without the time to scream or retreat, Ryu’s left hand was raised and the finger containing all the previous lightning Qi came downwards right down the center of his body swiftly.

Elder Gu was on guard but even he couldn’t react to Ryu’s movements. It was as if Ryu’s body glided without moving a muscle. The movement technique from the Drunken Dragon Fist was extremely profound and when Ryu utilizes lightning Qi, his speed and penetrating abilities increased tremendously. Elder Gu was about to attack when Ryu slowly stood up and walked past Has-Tai. A line could be seen straight down the middle of his precious armor and the next second, it broke apart into two halves.

“Impossible!” Elder Gu gasped, the armor was a set of lower rank 7 armor. He could also break it but not in Ryu’s fashion.

Elder Jin and Cian stood there in shock like the majority of the observers. They didn’t interfere earlier because header master Sonia told them personally that Ryu is a king Domain expert but to overwhelm three experts to this extent was vastly out of their expectation. This was unlike Ryu to go this far but reading Elder Gu’s thoughts earlier, he deduced that the people after these girls’ lives must have something to do with him. Also his mind was actually equally occupied if not more so with his clone, the Infernal Fist founder poses a danger to his grandparents whose lives Ryu’s treasures as much as his own.

“Enough!” A powerful voice boomed out that got everyone’s attention. “Has-Tai, don’t make trouble for senior Sonia’s guest. Let him in.”

“As you wish sect leader!” Everyone present except Ryu immediately bowed and replied.

“Karma is a bitch.” Ling-Yu whispered to Has-Tai while Elder Jin, Elder Cian and her sister just walked by ignoring him.

The tent was spacious and similar to the one at the Saint Jade Sect. The interior was arranged differently though. There was a bed in the center and a few tables full of medicine on top. The bed was made of an azure colored material that radiated cold Qi with slight fog to accompany it.

“Welcome.” A slim man that looked like he was in his forties stood up from the bed and greeted Ryu. His smile was sincere but his body looked frail. This was a far cry from what a powerful cultivator or sect leader should look like. It seemed like a long term illness had slowly chipped away at his health.

“I’m Cro-La, the leader of the Raging Thunder Sect. I’ve known Sonia for a long time, she had never mentioned you before. Who are you?” The sect leader asked politely. His eyes are a bit dim.

“Here’s a letter from senior Sonia herself.” Elder Jin said quickly as he produced a piece of paper from his sleeves.

Reading the letter, Cro-La’s eyes widened and his smile broadened. “Ah now I’m even more ashamed that my son and subordinates caused you such trouble.”

Ryu quickly shook his head and replied. “It was no trouble. Please don’t strain yourself. I’ll take a look at your injuries right away.”

“Please wait outside everyone.” Cro-La ordered. The elders were going to refuse but seeing the stubborn face of their master, they could only go out reluctantly.

Before Ryu even put his hand on Cro-La’s back, he could see traces of foreign Qi attacking his body. It wasn’t just in one place, it was in multiple places! It looked like multiple war broke out within his body. Sending a stream of Qi through the Qi channel from his back, Ryu deduced that the Corrosive Devil Poison Alexis inflected on him was definitely cured. This was a whole different poison aimed at crippling his Qi cultivation but not killing him.

If it was a poison that targeted him biologically like a virus or flu, Ryu would be more helpless in that area. This was Qi based however so his knowledge and natural talent gave him the confidence to help Cro-La.

Isolating one incident out of many within his body, Ryu observed that the foreign grey Qi behaved like ants. Anywhere his Qi travels, it would chase after it as if it were candy and bring it back right outside his reservoir. However the Qi captured by the foreign grey Qi would be slowly converted.

“Originally there was only a small spec of it inside my body but each time you destroy one, more will take its place. The result is what you see now.” Cro-La said with a faint smile.

Ryu frowned. He thought of nullifying the foreign Qi but that would simply suppress it. Nullifying is invalidating an equal amount of Qi with your own. The Sage Arts does have an erasing Qi skill but that would mean Cro-La’s original cultivation would be wiped out too.

After a few minutes of contemplation Ryu spoke up. “There is a way but there’s a chance you won’t survive it. The invading Qi had spread too much, if it continues you might live half a year if you don’t use your Qi. What I am proposing is to inject as much lightning Qi into your body as possible and overwhelm all the foreign Qi at once.”

“But my cultivation is currently so weak, you are worried that I can’t handle it?” Cro-La said with a smile as he finished Ryu’s sentence.

“Yes.” Ryu nodded. “However that would be your best shot at recovering. I sense you have fallen to a mere entry level King Domain cultivator state, after a week you might fall back down to Heaven Domain. I would recommend taking this gamble.”
