Chapter 51 – Reunion with a Childhood Friend

Chapter 51 – Reunion with a Childhood Friend

A green robed figure was flying in a streak of teal light towards him. A huge apparition of a crane appeared behind this expert and shot forward at Ryu. This crane was beautifully created with pure silver Qi and looked as if it was the real thing. Ryu quickly withdrew his enchantments and responded in kind. He swung his right hand in a circular motion and unleashed Conquering all Dragons in a punch, a huge twenty meter long dragon composed of golden Qi shot forth.

The disciples on the ground looked dumbly at the epic fight that was unfolding before them. On one hand they were relieved an elder had come to save them but on the other hand, they were scared silly that they offended such a monster.

The crane was smaller in size and looked much frailer than the dragon but was extremely nimble. It stopped as it was about to make contact with the dragon and opened its wings and lifted one of its leg.

Is that a fighting stance? Ryu thought to himself in surprise. Indeed it was. The moment the dragon approached the crane, it kicked out and pecked at it with its long beak. Ryu didn’t let that phase him and maneuvered his golden dragon made of Qi to lash out with its claws. The crane’s kick grazed the dragon and bits of golden Qi specks fell while the dragon’s claws ripped out a part of the crane’s wing. It’s as if two real ferocious beasts are engaging in battle. Utilizing its long body to slither around like a snake, the crane was eventually caught after landing a peck on the dragon torso. The dragon quickly wrapped around the crane and bit at its neck, dispersing the crane. The dragon then continued forth at the expert.

With a humph, the figure in green summoned a sword out of thin air and struck at the dragon. The green sword had a long but extremely thin blade. There was an odd hum that came with the sword’s slash, Ryu guessed that the sword itself must be a rank 7 or possible rank 8 weapon. It seems like the blade itself was bendy and creating shockwaves judging by the blade’s motion during the swing. Unexpectedly this sword strike carried such tremendous force that the intimidating dragon was cut in half through the center of its head. However the dragon broke off into multiple pieces of smaller dragons and attacked the green robed figure from all around.

The impact was loud and bright flashes of green and yellow lights appeared. Suddenly a huge green ball of aura shot towards Ryu from the explosion, this sphere of protective Qi was perfectly round. It turns out that the opponent unleashed a solid defense against Ryu’s dragons.

This was a basic defense move that Heaven Domain expert can start using. It requires a ton of control and high amount of Qi. Some call this simple move the absolute defense because as long as you have enough Qi, you can survive any hits from the same domain. For a King Domain expert like Ryu, he could maintain this shield for about five minutes only with just one Qi reservoir assuming there are no attacks made on him. Any attacks that land on this sphere would have its burden shared around the Qi sphere and consume much more Qi.

A golden sphere of Qi surrounded Ryu and he shot forward to meet the incoming expert.

“Honorable senior, I mean no harm to you or your sect.” Ryu shouted out futilely, the two balls of Qi collided and the shockwaves from the impact rippled in the sky. Each collision would push the two apart by a few meters and then they would collide again. The two continued this standstill and attempted to overwhelm each other with brute force. It was a battle based on pure Qi.

Ryu was shocked, this person was also a mid King Domain expert. Meaning his opponent was roughly level 65, five levels ahead of himself. The quality of Qi increases per level so Ryu was at a disadvantage, for the same amount of Qi released his Qi was definitely weaker. Meaning he is losing much more Qi than his opponent at each clash. Thankfully he has four Qi reservoirs at the moment so he can substitute and compensate quality with quantity for now. This green robed figure was utilizing a unique breathing technique that made it hard for Ryu to discern his or her true cultivation previously.

After a few minutes Ryu started to worry. He might have four Qi reservoirs but after the battle with three elders from the Resilient Gaia sect and then against the masked stranger a few hours ago, he had lost quite a bit of his stamina.

“Please listen respectable elder, I mean you no harm.” Ryu attempted to communicate with his opponent.

“Master, this person saved my life. Please have mercy” The victimized girl below finally caught up to them and shouted.

Hearing her voice, the green figure abruptly stopped the battle of Qi and released her green barrier. Ryu dropped his barrier as well and politely bowed. The green robed figure turned out to be a middle aged woman. She had long straight black hair and very sharp eye brows. Ryu could tell that this person was the serious and impulsive kind. Her clothes suggest that she cares not for her looks even though she had a beautiful figure and face.

“What do you mean?” The green robed elder said as she lowered herself to her disciple. The disciple quickly recounted briefly what happened and the elder’s face flinched in anger.

With a wave of her hand, the four disciples from a far in the forest flew towards her. Her disciple was lifted in the air too.

“We’ll get this sorted out in front of the headmaster.” She said coldly. “You come with me too.”

Ryu complied and followed from behind.

“Thank you, my name is Eu-Meh. Have we met before?” The disciple asked curiously as they traveled back to camp.

Eu-Meh? She’s senior sister Eu-Meh from the Inferno Fist School? Ryu thought in shock. She had changed so much that Ryu didn’t recognize her. During the Talent Examination three years ago Ryu had saved her on stage. She was only fifteen at the time. Now she had matured to an extremely mature, alluring and stunning girl.

Seeing Ryu’s stunned face, Eu-Meh continued to stare with confusion.

“No I don’t think so… My name is Dragon.” Ryu said. Should he introduce himself as Ryu’s brother? He was at a loss. Seeing one of his childhood friend after so long sent a warm feeling to his heart. He had been pretty lonely.

“Dragon.” Eu-Meh repeated with a look of amusement. She didn’t press the matter further, she was thankful that this oddly familiar stranger happened to save her from an unfortunate fate.

“You look like someone I know…” Eu-Meh said softly to herself as Ryu quietly followed them.

Within a few minutes, Elder Su landed in front of a gigantic tent bigger than most houses with fancy stitches. A huge crest stating Saint Jade Sect was above its entrances. The five disciples in the incident was told to be quiet and wait while she kept her eye out on Ryu.

To Elder Su, Ryu was a dangerous intruder that could potentially go rogue at any time. Ryu managed to contend with her even when her cultivation was at a higher level. He also did so without any intentions to harm or kill. This means that his mastery over martial skills are not any lower than hers. His age is also really young. Each time you reach a new domain starting from the Master Domain, your age would be stalled for a certain period of time. It’s around half the time granted by each domain to your longevity. To reach the King Domain and look like a twenty year old, Ryu is a monstrous genius in her eyes.

The two guilty female disciples were sweating and afraid for their lives. They know that if the truth got out, they might be expelled and their cultivation could be crippled as a punishment. The two disciples from the Resilient Gaia Sect are equally afraid, their sect leader had been in an awful mood lately. They were only inner court disciples too meaning they are dispensable to a large sect where there’s thousands of disciples. Eu-Meh started meditating after seeing that Ryu had closed his eyes and focused his mind elsewhere.

Half an hour passed and the entrance to the tent opened. Four figures stepped out. There was one middle aged man, one middle aged woman, and two young girls in their twenties. Their clothes were not simple, one could tell that it was high grade tailored clothes. The moment they walked past Ryu who still had his eyes closed, one of the young girl stopped and gave him a long stare.

“You can come in now Elder Su.” A soft and kind voice echoed from within the tent. The group was escorted in by a few servants. The inside of the tent was like a well decorated house.

However, the atmosphere around them was intense beyond belief. There were eleven elders wearing the same clothes as Elder Su. Six sat on one side while five set on the other side with a missing seat. The missing seat obviously belongs to Elder Su. There was a slim woman with lovely long white hair in the center. She gives off a mysterious aura different from the rest. Behind her was a snow leopard that laid comfortably with its eyes closed.

They were all experts at concealing their strength while meditating outside the tent previously, Ryu did indeed sense twelve experts in the tent but couldn’t figure out their cultivation. He couldn’t figure out Elder Su’s cultivation either until he directly clashed with her. Now that he’s actually inside, his heart skipped a few beats because if for some unforeseen reasons he has to escape from here… the odds are slim.

“Elder Su, what were you thinking dashing out in a middle of a conference?” One elder with bright red hair asked. On her forehead there was some sort of symbol.

“Elder Su went to look after her disciple, it’s fine.” Another elder spoke with a sigh. It seems like these two argued a lot on a daily basis.

“I should be asking you that very same question Elder Liang. It seems like your disciple ordered a hit on mine.” Elder Su replied with a frosty glare.

“Ridiculous, how dare you accuse my disciple?” Elder Liang said angrily as she stood up.

“Enough.” The headmaster said gently. Although her voice was not loud, it carried a heavy force that shook even Ryu’s inner organs. Ryu was shocked… the Headmaster was a step away from entering Emperor Domain! “I don’t want to hear a word from you two. Let’s the disciples speak.”

The two guilty female disciples instantly wept and banged their head on the ground as they apologized and recounted their version of the story. However, many crucial details were left out or changed. They made it sound like they were saving Eu-Meh from the Resilient Gaia Sect disciples.

Ryu frowned. Now that they are under the safety of their sect elders and headmaster, they can make random facts up without fear. When it was Eu-Meh’s turn, she recalled exactly what happened to the elders which caused some elders to raise their eyebrows doubting her story. This was because it was so hard to believe the carefully handpicked girls in the sect would do such a thing. The beautiful headmaster could only rub the side of her head as she tried to make out what really happened.

“Excuse me, I believe if you look at this you will find out what really happened.” Ryu said as he took out a small object from a pocket near his chest. This was something he learned from Leonardo. Ryu had piles of crystals from Alexis’s stash, why not use them to record the truth instead of using specializations for people to say the truth.

The faces of the two female disciples fell. It was an image crystal! Ryu lightly sent it over to the headmaster to inspect.

The events starting from their chase of Eu-Meh was recorded and displayed. Each vulgar threats and taunts were played out for all to hear. The face of Elder Liang distorted when her disciple was mentioned to have given the order.

“That’s slander. Who knows if this is actually real?” Elder Liang angrily shouted. Her face was flush and her eye twitched. The guilty disciples looked like they could faint at any moment. One of the guys actually peed a little on himself.

“Why don’t you just admit you failed at raising a disciple? Or maybe she learnt it from you. Everyone knows that eons ago the great invincible wizard Merlin created this crystal technology. Countless people tried and failed to temper with his creations.” Elder Su retorted. It was true, the voice and image crystals created by the greatest magician of all times could only be reproduced by powerful mages but never altered. Since they are not magic users themselves, they don’t know why.

The once previous calm group of elder started murmuring amongst themselves. The behavior of these disciples were inexcusable. As an all-girls sect and a first rate sect from the Lin Province, they had a reputation as a sect that carried out justice and aided the ones in need. Senior disciples of the Saint Jade Sect often take on missions to solve issues in the mortal world. They were often referred as savior angels.

“I’ll… get to the bottom of this. Call my disciple in!” Elder Liang shouted with fury at one of the servants in the tent. Even though she doted her disciple, in her heart she had a bad feeling about this. If her disciple did order her juniors to cause trouble then not only would she be a laughingstock amongst the elders, she would be the one to carry out the punishment on her only disciple.
