Rose’s Turn
Things got worse.
While they were getting the new weapons at the blacksmith, a bunch of folks in legal gear approached. They were polite, but asked that Wonder come with them. Apparently since Wonder did have a bounty on him from Oracle City and his arrival was right before the attack, they had decided he was the culprit. Wonder asked for concrete proof, and they pulled out guns.
Rose saw Wonder about to cry, so went with him. Susie and Crisis agreed to watch the kids.
They now all sat in an interrogation room. Wonder had refused to speak. He said either show him proof, or get him a lawyer. Rose stayed with him, being support.
The deputy groaned. “Mr. Hyde, this would be a lot easier if you cooperate.”
“I committed no crime, Deputy. So I either need proof that I did, or I need a lawyer.”
The deputy groaned. Rose said coldly, “I agree with my husband, Deputy. I personally cannot knock mind control, but you need proof. Did you find an arrow of his? Have some magical memory feed? A witness? Talk proof, or we will combat this unprofessional and biased slop job of yours.”
The deputy glared. He said, “Keep that up, and you’ll be an accomplice.”
Rose said, “So you are admitting to locking people up without proof? Just because you don’t like what they are saying?”
The deputy’s face went red. Suddenly the door opened, and a young lady stood there. She looked pissed.
The deputy jumped up. “Lady She…”
“I heard what happened from the Guardians. They are not very happy you locked up someone with their blood without due proof or reason.”

The deputy went pale. “H-H-He…”
Lady She said, “So I suggest you either show me some damned proof, or I’m kicking your sorry ass and taking my cousin out of here.”
Wonder looked up in shock. Rose smirked. Someone from Wonder’s home Tribe, undoubtedly.
Lady She-Who-Comes-With-Thunder led them out. Lady She-Who-Walks-With-Thunder said, “I apologize deeply, brother. This is the biggest attack Talcini has had in… I don’t even know how long.”
Wonder nodded. “It is all right, Lady She-Who-Comes-With-Thunder. I appreciate the save. But I am not thinking of sticking around.”
Wonder suddenly vanished. Rose shrieked. Lady She-Who-Walks-With-Thunder looked enraged.
They went back, and the Deputy smirked. He said, “He did want to see the mines.”

Wonder’s Turn
“People. I fucking hate people.”
Wonder stood up with a groan, rubbing his head. He looked around. It was very clearly a mineshaft. But he was the only one in there, and it was insanely cold.
Wonder summoned a bow. He had a feeling that this was the Deputy’s plan all along. Well, he was fighting his way out of the dungeon!
Wonder messaged his kids and Rose. They needed to evacuate. If the law enforcement of the town was willing to go this far, his family Was in no way safe.
Wonder started walking down the tunnel when he heard it.
He stopped and listened. It was a rhythmic drum. A march?
No… something deep in his gut told him it was something else.
Wonder quickly pressed against a wall and prepped his bow. He continued to stalk, checking around corners and stuff. Lanterns were not lit in all of them, so he had a pretty clear path down the center aisle. But it was almost like it was someone was leading him down the tunnel specifically.
Wonder reached a tunnel that went down. This one was not lit, but it was clearly where the cold air and drumming was coming from. Wonder scowled, and debated leaving the clear trap.
But something deep inside him told him to go.
Wonder walked down the tunnel, cursing his instincts. The drumming got louder and louder, and started sounding more like energy pulses. A portal?
Wonder reached the exit, and looked…
And felt himself grow ice cold.
And debating everything he knew about Hoseki.
