Chapter 29

“MALCHON!!!”

Wonder summoned his bow and arrow. Dammit, Malchon had beat them to it! Wonder shouted, “IZUKU! SAKURA! ROSE!!! CRISIS!”

Rose shouted far in the distance, “I’m all right!”

Sakura said to Wonder’s left, “I’m here, Daddy!”

Izuku called out, “Over here! I’m all right, but my Beasts are everywhere!”

Wonder said, “Dammit… Anyone hurt?!?”

Sakura said, “No, Daddy!”

Izuku said, “I’m fine!”

Rose said, “Yeah! Crisis?!?”

Wonder checked Crisis’s stats. His HP was fine, and of course he was blinded by darkness.

Suddenly a message came in: I’m all right. I think I hear you all shouting, but I am too far to make out words.

Wonder called out, “He’s all right! Apparently he got shot out much farther than we did!”

Wonder typed a response: Good. We all seemed to have been scatter-shot teleported, but we’re all right and relatively close to each other.

Wonder called out, “MYZUNE!”

There was silence, then Rose shouted, “I hear them! I think they’re chanting or praying!”

So the Beholder may be here soon. Well, Wonder would take that.

Suddenly all the lights turned on. Wonder instantly pointed upwards and fired. This was a spell Rose taught him a while back. It was a stun bolt, but it would actually boost his family and stun his enemy. It took half of his small mana pool, but it was good backup and flare. The arrow exploded, and sounds of thunderbolts reigned.

“OUCH. Well, apparently you are decent with that bow too.”

Wonder’s eyes adjusted at last. He and his family were in a metal room the size of a football field. The floor was lava, though strangely without the heat. Everyone was on individual metal floors floating a floor above the lava.

Wonder checked his family first. They were all right, and Izuku was putting Beasts back into his Beast Inventory. Wonder signaled him to stop, just in case this turned into a parkour course and he needed his wolves to ride.

Wonder looked at the newcomer. The guy reminded Wonder of the typical stereotype of scientist. He wore a white coat, scrubs, and even had the brown clipboard. However, he was pale and had stitches all over his body.

Max got inspiration from Dr. Frankenstein there.

Wonder used Appraisal on him quickly:

Rex Maxemillion

Class: None (Could Class Select Into Mage)

STR: Average

DEF: Low

AGI: High

Mana: 10,000

REP: 0

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Rex Maximillion smirked. “Just Appraised me, didn’t you?”

Wonder said, “Hey, you magically show after we get teleported by a bad guy’s typical dark-warp trick. Excuse me if I’m a bit wary. Also…” He pointed down at the lava.

Rex chuckled. “All right, I will give you that much. Here, let’s bring the other people in so I don’t have to repeat myself.”

He snapped his fingers, and Crisis and the Myzune appeared on their own platforms. The Myzune froze, obviously having been worshipping at a quickly-made altar. They looked around, curiousity clearly taking over.

Wonder reminded, “Be safe, guys.”

Rex blinked and squinted at Crisis. “I can’t believe it… Experiment 1702, AKA the Faller!”

Crisis said, “I am scared to ask where I got that nickname. But to clear things up, I am Agent Crisis.”

To Wonder’s surprise, Rex bowed his head in respect. “Fair enough. My apologies, Agent.”

He smirked at Wonder. “Now to you. You’re clearly the party leader.”

Rose cleared his throat, but too late. Wonder said, “Nah, I’m just the lucky one. We make decisions as a family.”

Wonder scowled. “But I am not appreciating how you’re threatening them. Look, all we’re here to do is disable a portal system before previously mentioned bad guy does. Then pick up any other sentient Antibodies if they were abandoned. Obviously, they were not.”

Rex chuckles. “Oh indeed. My father’s greatest accomplishment.”

Rose said, “Great, someone who toots his own horn.”

Rex glared. Wonder said, “Point stands. Bad guy named Malchon is probably gonna come for your portal system. Why, I do not know why. But I know my luck, and he’s gonna come. Now you mind sending us back?”

Rex chuckled. “Sorry, not going to happen.”

Wonder released an arrow. Rex barely dodged in time, and it was probably thanks to his high AGI stat.

Rex glared, then Wonder felt the buzz of appraisal. Rex’s eyes went wide. Wonder said, “Yeah, I had my beloved bard up my stats before heading out. A good idea in the wilderness.”

Not a lie, but Wonder also wasn’t in the mood to explain his broken stats. He didn’t have a good explanation anyway.

Wonder said, “Let’s get something as clear as mud here. I’m not allowing you to threaten or hurt my family. So we are going to leave. I told you what needed to be done, and if the sentient Antibodies are fine, that’s that.”

Rex smirked, and shifted his posture. Wonder saw his mana going down, and realized he was about to cast a spell. FUCK!

Sakura said, “Daddy!!!”

Wonder jumped out of the way, just as his platform exploded. Wonder landed on a platform with a wolf…

Then saw the Myzune running around on top of the lava.

That was why there was no heat!

Wonder smirked. “There’s a floor down there, everyone!!!”

Wonder jumped down, firing a few more arrows at Rex. Rex growled, but jumped off himself. Dumb idea… he could have used the platform as a shield!

But Wonder was hoping that Rex might be so unused to combat he’d do something that stupid.

Because Izuku had unleashed the Undead Horde.

Rex yelped, and cast a shield. Bunnies, wolves, and one bear slammed against it. Rex said, “Hold it!!! This isn’t how it’s supposed to go!!!”

Wonder knocked another arrow. “News flash: THREATENING MY FAMILY ALLOWS ME TO BREAK RULES!!!”

“HOLD IT!!!”

The voice blasted from some intercom system. Wonder looked, and saw a glowing white orb racing from the ceiling. It hovered above them, and an image of an older man stood there. “Everyone stand down!!!”

Rex said, “Dad?!?”

Wonder blinked and tried to Appraise the figure, but got: Hologram ball. You can figure out what it does. Sorry, Wonder, this skill doesn’t work like that.

Wonder huffed. He said, “Are you going to be civilized enough to just warp us out? I’m not here to play games with my family’s lives.”

The man paled, and shouted, “REXTILLIAN!!!”

Rex quickly turned meek and mild. “S-S-Sorry, Dad…”

Dad?

Maximillion sighed. “My deepest apologies. Rex gets a bit… enthusiastic… but he means no harm. He probably had some song and dance routine to make you shit your pants before releasing you along the coast somewhere.”

Maximillion looked at Wonder. “But I understand that doesn’t cut it. I can’t warp you to the surface, but as an apology, I can bring you to my Ranch and allow you to stay the night. Then we can get you out tomorrow.”

Wonder said, “I need a why. Though it’s hard to refuse free food.”

Maximillion chuckled. He said, “It’s a case of power overload. Anytime the system warps someone, it builds up a dangerous kind of charge in the structure.”

Wonder finished, “So if you continually use it, KA-BOOM.”

Maximillion looked impressed. “Yes. So I’ll let you and your family spend the night here, and once the charge disperses in the morning, we can get you back to the surface.”

Wonder looked at the group. He then looked up. “Fine. But one trick, and you and your son are dead. I have some friends in very high places.”

The Myzune chimed, “MY-ZUNE!”
