They only brought a few bags of supplies. Hopefully they could reach the Decayon before Kingsley. But Wonder secretly doubted it. Kingsley was flying, after all. It would all depend on if the death trap had a radius, and how Kingsley figured out how to bypass the spell around them.

What he didn’t expect was that Kingsley break the silent Pokemon Trainer Rule.

Izuku screamed, “DADDY!!!”

Suddenly both of them were rolling across a dune as a laser beam hit right where the duo had been standing. Rose and Sakura were sprayed by sand, but they seemed unharmed.

Wonder said, “What the…?”

He looked at Izuku, and realized his boy was suddenly a lot taller, and his limbs seemed to be half wood.

Congrats! Your Sapling has evolved… NOWNOTTHETIMEFUCKINGRUN!!!

Wonder grabbed him and darted off. Another red laser beam hit the sand.

Izuku said, “Ergh… Daddy, I’m sick…”

Wonder said, “Sorry, kiddo! I’m gonna bring you to your sister, get her back to the caravans, okay?”

Izuku nodded. Wonder ran back, doing a crazy zig-zag to avoid the air attacks.

Sakura seemed to have put up a shield before Rose ran out into the sand. Rose was supporting it with a whistle-like instrument she had. Her eyes went wide to see Izuku’s growth spurt. Wonder put Izuku down near the duo. Izuku hugged Sakura and they vanished.

Rose stood up, pulling out her lute. She said, “He evolved?”

Wonder said, “Yeah, wish I had time to celebrate.” Or process the fact sentient beings can evolve here.

Rose let loose a guitar solo… just in time. A laser hit the shield, and it made disturbing cracking sounds.

Wonder said, “Shit… even I’m not willing to break the Poke-Rule for a rarebie!”

“You don’t attack other Trainers directly!”

Rose grunted, “Let’s add, especially if they’re your allies.”

Wonder nodded, pulling out his bow. “How long can you hold out?”

“Maybe a minute.”

Wonder nodded, and aimed his bow. But the phoenix was too far up. All Wonder got was a small orange dot.

“Too far! I might get lucky, but he’s more likely to dodge.”

Rose grunted.

Then the phoenix did the most terrifying thing.

It shot at the caravan.

“NO!!!”

When the dust died down, Wonder saw a shield in relief. Sakura must have spotted it and got a shield up.

So you can fuck the Quest without penalty (and keep lifemate). GO GO GO!!!

Wonder yelled, “Don’t have to tell me twice, Dark! Rose, we need to get to the caravan!”

Rose nodded, and dropped the shield. Wonder picked her up and shot towards the caravan. Rose pulled out the bongos, and the shield returned shortly. But Wonder was moving so fast, the lasers stood no chance.

When they got back, they found that the Myzune were in a circle and chanting. From their circle, the shield was being emitted. Wonder said, “Thanks, guys! Hold up for a few more minutes.”

Wonder quickly checked in the carriage. Izuku was comforting a crying Sakura. The wolf pack were protecting them, and the bunnies were attempting comfort. He looked up. “Daddy…?”

“Buckle up, kiddos! We’re getting out of Dodge! Then maybe we’ll celebrate Izuku’s evolution!” He smiled and winked, despite feeling a need to panic himself.

Wonder closed the door and climbed onto the driver’s seat. Rose sat by him, playing her bongos like nuts. The Myzune climbed onto the roof, and Wonder was typing commands into the carriage’s screen.

Finally, it clicked loose and he got a steering wheel. “HANG ON WE’RE ABOUT TO HIT THE RAINBOW ROAD!”

Wonder quickly jammed the drive button. The carriage shot ahead, barely clearing the other ones. Thankfully the shield stuck with them, because the lasers were pocketing the area.

Rose grunted. Luckily the seat came with safety magic that kept the riders in place. Wonder said, “Any ideas how to lose them?!?”

Rose said, “You have a connection to the Dark, ask him!”

Wonder said, “Yeah, doesn’t work that way, I’m pretty sure!”

Well, still. Never hurts to ask.

“DARK!!! YAH MIND A QUICK BACKUP?!?”

Silence, outside another brilliant red beam.

Wonder said, “Yeah, sadly guessed!”

They shot through the dunes. Wonder looked around, looking for a place they may be able to take shelter. Or even Kingsley wasn’t dumb enough to shoot. But there was nothing but black sand.

Rose said, “Head for the Decayon! It’s Kingsley’s prize, he won’t shoot that!”

Wonder nodded, turning around…

And suddenly finding himself ramming into a massive wall of white skin.
