Chapter 7: Doing the side quest while regretting your naming sense

Heyooo, I'm back. Do yall miss me? No? ..... Well, screw you; you're a figment of my imagination. So take that!

It's been like 5 months since I made Ivictus.

Okay, quick rant.

I hate how I named all of them. Like Ivictus? Bruh, that is just the word 'evict' with an added tus at the end. Why DID I THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA?

OH yEaH iViCtUs Is DeFiNiTeLy a gOoD nAmE.

Like bruh. I just wanted to make a cool name, man. Now it just sounds like I'm naming a brand new disease. Examples: Meletia, Krasus, and Gea. LIKE, WHAT IS THIS? PLAGUE INC?

Ahem, with that out of the way, I now have a full-on bustling city, everyone! Like, look there and over there! This is a city! Under the fucking ground.

Yeah, but unlike the rest of the caves, this city is like a fucking beacon. Because of that, several, and I mean several, hostile incursions have happened in the 3 months since the city's lights have been turned on.

Some weird, goofy-looking flesh things Although a very good food source. They apparently taste quite bad but ARE edible. At first, their first incursion was swiftly taken care of by Meletia. Using her fire magic, she burned a dozen or so of these fleshy things to crispness in a few fucking seconds.

Another one happened after just a fucking day, but this time there was twice the amount. At that point, I was suspicious, and because of my suspicions and how I got scared when I first saw them, I ramped up my production and made a sh*t ton of defenses and weaponry for my soldiers.

So yeah, Meletia just ordered the Uh.... I forgot what you called them. Machine gun operators, I guess? Yeah, machine gun operators So yeah, she ordered the MGOs to open fire.

This continued every day with the flesh creatures getting more numerous and varied, like one of them being able to tank a lot of the high-caliber kinetic rounds while another can launch corrosive acid from afar.

How do I know it's corrosive? Well, let's just say that someone's day got a hell of a lot worse and that the medical department got a bit of practice.

Although I did make it so that my people heal incredibly fast, you can't really heal damaged tissue when something keeps destroying it.

Yeah, although the waves ARE getting stronger, so are my weapons. I just hope they run out of resources soon, because if not, Well, let's just say my technology wouldn't be able to keep up.

However, I do have a plan to combat this issue. I was already planning on expanding my city. like it's already 50 km in diameter. Actually, I control an area of a hundred kilometers currently. Yeah, that's a lot, isn't it?

TBH, I kind of just made Burge do all the work while also giving the others something to do. I gave Lefia a book on human anatomy since technically they're still humans, just heavily modified. I gave Gea a sh*t ton of books because I plan on making a library of some random sh*t.

Krasus, that little maniac, a research facility, because I felt bad for Quinton having to clean up his mess. To be honest, Quinton is just a place holder for the air master in my compound. So I just made him share titles with Penitia, the stuck-up daddy's girl. So right now, he is head of hygiene and beauty. Yeah, I had to make something up.

Meletia, eeeehhh, she can play outside. She'll be fine; to be honest, I was more afraid of her accidentally scaring away all the game around the area, but that's no longer a problem since I have just made farm animals that breed like fucking rabbits and multiply and grow at a rapid pace.

There were genetically modified cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens. The chickens lay a dozen eggs in a week, and the eggs will hatch in about 2 weeks. But the main thing about them is that each animal takes only two weeks to fully grow.

BTW, I made these a week after the lighting of the city. So yeah, I had to section off part of the northern district for production. So that the animal population is monitored.

I actually had to modify the animals many times before settling on just making a field energy field that surrounds the enclosures that either excites the animals to breed or makes them lose interest. I mean, they still do breed, just not as frequently.

After that little fiasco, I looked back towards my city. I may have gone a little overboard with the population and added 50 thousand people. Good thing I planned on making 10 thousand of them become soldiers. That flesh monster problem ain't going to solve itself.

I have actually separated each quadrant of the city to do a specific thing. The north side of the city is focused on production, i.e., agriculture, metals, gunpowder, electricity, water, etc. Oh yeah, I got tired of making ore myself, so I made my people do it.

Each factory focuses on a specific metal. They can mine said metal using a giant fucking slab of said metal right outside the factory. I've also made it so that it regrows back to its original form every 12 hours. My workers don't have to do any refining; they just mine out a piece and melt it. It's pure raw metal that I've made specifically to accommodate their weak mortal abilities. So yeah, mainly fire, earth, and lightning users work here.

The western quadrant I made to be solely military; there are, of course, some schools and houses here and there, but it's mainly used for the convenience of my soldiers. I've also chosen this side because it is where all the flesh-monster incursions happen. I don't need to be a detective to know where the horde most likely is.

The east is designated to be the business side of the city. If any of my people decide they want to sell something for a little bit more profit, Some sell cool trinkets, while others do shows. Of course, they've only started selling trinkets. No shows yet, sadly. I plan on making some phones, TVs, and other modern-day conveniences because I want to feel superior like that because it tickles that really good spot inside of me. That can be interpreted in two VERY different ways.

Finally, I designated the south to be the housing area. That's where I want the general population to live. There are many apartment buildings that I have designated some of my people to manage. A hotel if they feel a little fancy. A school and a library full of books I magicked up. But to be honest, it took me an entire month just to categorize each book and another week to fill up the shelves and separate books by level. So one can be for grade schoolers, and another can be for high schoolers. In the schools, I've adopted the same system as back on earth. Although shit, I can't make up another one, but I did promote the idea of actually learning important stuff and kind of push the teachers to teach future generations stuff that can be useful, such as health, how to pay taxes, business, etc. But for now, the teachers are basically just studying and preparing themselves for a possible influx of children in the near future.

Now let's get back to my military. Right now, each element has a use in the army. Earth users are the fortifications; water and life are the auxiliaries; lightning for power and technical maintenance; death for siege types; they're useless right now, but they can release plagues and whatnot, basically chemical warfare. Fire for assault, Wind for reconnaissance, basically skirmishers, and Arcane users for strategy, basically the generals

Wait, Alester, what are arcane users? I'M GLAD YOU ASKED A RANDOM VOICE INSIDE MY HEAD. Well, to put it simply, arcane users are diviners; they can see a few seconds into the future for a brief moment. Arcane users also gain the power to tame and summon creatures they have bonded with or killed. Basically psychic users, but without the levitate of that rock over there. You know what? Maybe I should make it so that only a few Arcane users can levitate rocks. Yeah, that's a good plan.

Oh yo. It looks like there's another wave already; too bad for them; I did all the side quests.
