Chapter 4 – Showing Your Status Is Enough to Make a King Smile Apparently
----------------------------------------
Lunch came, it consisted of two entrées, a boiled egg with the red replaced with grounded and spiced meat and then grated on top of it and a small salad with two grilled fishes on top that looked like sardines with only oil and salt as dressing, a vegetable soup cooked au gratin and finally a steak sprinkled with spices that tasted a lot like horse meat, everything was accompanied by bread. It was really good, as expected of a royal palace.
After lunch the maid Lucilla guided me to a room on the first floor.
“Please enter; I will wait for you here”
After Lucilla said so I entered the room and found King August with Gabriel and an old woman I didn’t know waiting for me around a white crystal placed on the floor that reached to my waist. Gabriel started glaring at me as soon as I entered the room, the king was still shaking a bit and the old woman was visibly shocked for a moment before regaining her composure and putting on an emotionless face.
“Hero Fortuna thank you for coming here. I would like to introduce you to our court magician Lady Raphael Millian”
When the king said so the old woman took a step forward and made light bow while keeping her expressionless face.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Hero Fortuna.”
“The pleasure is all mine Lady Raphael.” I imitated her bow while talking with a smile.
After we introduced ourselves Lady Raphael stepped back and let the king, who was still shaking a bit, do the talking.
“Have you started to adapt to your new residence?”
(Are you trying to make me or yourself at ease? Seriously stop shaking!)
“Yes, for what I’ve seen this is really a beautiful Palace and your chefs sure know how to prepare an exquisite lunch.”
“I’m glad you liked it. As I think Lucilla already told you we would like to appraise your abilities with this truth stone if you are willing to let us do so.” As he said so the king had a more and more worried look every word he spoke.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
“Yes of course, I don’t have any reason to refuse.”
The king, visibly relieved from my words, looked in the direction of Lady Raphael who nodded at him.
“Please then, place your hand on this crystal”
At the words of the king I went near the crystal and placed my hand on it, as I did so it started shining and after a moment a status window, similar to the one I could see with the ability of my eyes, appeared floating in mid-air.

Name: Fortuna Race: Human Lvl:1 Job: Hero HP: 123 MP: 137 SP: 109 STR: 104 DEF: 103 AGI: 106 INT: 105 WIS: 104 Skills Sword mastery lvl 1 Dagger mastery lvl 2 Hand to hand combat lvl2 Alchemy lvl 1 Evasion lvl 2 Holy magic lvl 2 Titles Hero of Humanity
The three read my status and as soon as they finished a smile bloomed on their faces.
“She’s already more skilled than some of our soldiers.”
“And she already knows holy magic, it was probably gifted to her by the goddess, but with this it will be much easier for me to teach her magic.”
After Gabriel and Raphael commented on my status the king looked at me, his overjoyed face was in great contrast with his shaking of just a few minutes ago.
“Hero Fortuna, with this there can be no doubt that you really are our hero, I hope you are willing to lend us your help in this fight”
“Yes Your Majesty, even though I am from another world I’m still a human, if you say that without my intervention the people of this world will perish I can’t really turn a blind eye on this matter. I hope I will be of use.” After saying so I made a light bow, which made the king even happier.
(This will be so fun! It’s been more than a thousand years since the last time I got to exercise, give me a sword already!)
“I really thank you for your understanding; if you ever need anything feel free to ask me with no reserve, I will do anything in my powers for you”
As soon as he finished talking the king bowed his head to me and seeing him do so Raphael and Gabriel also bowed their head.
“Thank you sire, but you shouldn’t bow your head to me; I’ve still done nothing to prove my worth”
At my words the king stopped bowing, soon followed by the other two.
“No, I am sure you will do great things. Now that we have finished with this matter our maid will help you choose a dress for this evening party.”
While talking we went out of the room, where Lucilla, seeing the relaxed look on the face of the king bloomed into a smile but soon regained her composure.
“Yes sire, I look forward to the party held by you.”
I bowed one last time before turning to Lucilla who guided me back to my room.
