Chapter 3 – The Pizza Palace and the Two Gods.

We walked through a hallway made of white marble with golden ornaments on the walls; it was a hallway that could be as big as those in the Palace of Versailles, on the left a series of windows that reached seven meters in height allowed the rays of the morning sun to hit the marble walls and on the right, every ten or so meters, you could see big wooden doors with beautiful floral carvings. Looking through the windows I could see that we were on the third floor and a garden enclosed in three parts of the palace could be seen.
(That garden looks like a slice of pizza; I hope they have something like tomatoes here.)
After walking for a while we arrived at the intersection at the end of the hallway and got to a curving hallway that seemed to be going all the way around.
(It looks like this palace is actually made as a ring with hallways connecting it to the four doors of that dome-shaped room and the rooms underneath it; it’s completely different from the ones I’m used too.)
At the intersection we went right and, after a short while, the maid stopped in front of a door, opened it and went inside.
The room we went inside was a large rectangular room of about sixty square meters, against one of the walls there was a king sized bed, on the other part of the room a big wardrobe covered all the wall, in the centre of the room there was a small table with three chairs and from the windows you could see the city outside: an enormous city with a circular shape and maze-like streets, with three stone walls, the innermost being on a hill, allowing the people in the palace to see everything from above.
“This will be your room for the time being, we’ll soon bring clothes that will fit you for your wardrobe. If you need to use the toilet you’ll find it at the intersection we just passed, there is a plumping system inside the palace and the inner ring of the capital, so please flush after you use it. The bath is on the first floor, if you need it or for any other necessities please pull that string on the wall, a maid will immediately come. Lunch will be served to you here; in the afternoon you will be appraised with a truth stone to find out your abilities; in the evening there will be a party in the centre hall in the first floor and you will make your debut to the noble society of the capital.” Lucilla said all in one go.

“It’s quite a tight schedule for my first day here.”
“I’m sorry but we need to know your abilities as soon as possible so that Lord Gabriel and Lady Raphael will be able to prepare the best training for you and the nobles would start a commotion if we kept the hero a secret and they were to find out. You will be left with the rest of the morning all for yourself; you’re free to tour the palace and its gardens if you want to, I would gladly guide you. If there is anything you need please ask me.” The look in her eyes told me that she was actually sorry and worried for me and wasn’t just doing her job.
(She’s also a good person not only a good maid. I’m starting to like her.)
“There is nothing I really need right now, and I would prefer to stay here alone for a bit but may I ask you a question?”
“Please do”
“This city has a really particular shape, why is that?”
“Phosforia was built by Saint Armand Olivie, the first king of the Olivedias Kingdom with the help of the Goddess of Light and is actually a city-wide magic circle that keeps strong monsters away, enhances the fertility of the fields around the capital and makes the water that flows in the canals of the capital always safe to drink.”
“So that’s why, it’s really an impressive city”
(But the fact that a god actually helped a man to this extent is weird.)
“Yes it is the pride of the kingdom. Do you have any other question?”
“None for the moment.”
“Very well, I’ll leave you alone for the moment, I will return with lunch in a couple of hours. Call for me if you need help.” Saying so with a smile Lucilla bowed and left the room.
(I think I should know more about this world if I’m going to live here)
When she closed the door I took my shoes off and laid on the bed to meditate. While meditating I saw that this world consisted only of this planet, the plane of the gods of light and the plane of the gods of darkness. There were only two gods, one per plane. The sun, the stars and the two moons were actually spheres of pure magic circling the planet. What’s more the energy of the whole world, including all living beings and the two gods, was not even near a portion of mine
(Is this a joke!? There are only two gods and with a ridiculously small amount of energy! No wonder the system gave an error when trying to display my magic power. It’s even weirder considered that this world has laws of physics similar to that of Earth with only two gods.
I should investigate this matter and, if needed, help them and make this world bigger…but it’s really troublesome and I was on a vacation.
Well, I could enjoy this game-like world for a while and then help them when I feel like it.
Yep, let’s go with that.)
I stopped meditating and started enjoying the view outside my window waiting for lunch.
(I feel like a bored princess in a castle, hopefully the training will be fun. Wait! It won’t be like a tutorial in a game right? I hate these. Well, joking aside I hope this day full of useless talks ends soon.)
