After the enemy was driven off, it was all hands on deck to put out the fires and take care of the wounded. The mech was tasked with lifting up rubble and Ivy used the sensors to look for survivors. Gavin was exhausted when they were finally finished. Luckily the enemy didn’t seem interested in coming back for another round.
Ivy must have been even more tired as she seemed to have fallen asleep in her seat again. He got up and went over to try and get her to at least sleep in the bed this time. He gently shook her shoulder, trying to get her to wake up enough to get her in the bed. “Come on, if you don’t use the bed then I have dibs on it.”
Ivy groaned but didn’t wake up. Gavin stood up and scratched his head. He really wanted her to get a good sleep since he thought she had been pushing herself too hard. She might not like it but Gavin decided to move her to the bed. He reached over her and pushed the button to open the door. He carefully reached down and picked her up out of the seat, carrying her princess style.
She was a lot lighter than he was expecting and he didn’t mind the slight sweat smell. Ivy didn’t wake up which kind of surprised him. He laid her on the bed and took her boots off, covering her with an olive drab blanket. She really was cute when she wasn’t glaring at him, even with the scar on her face. Her blue hair still intrigued him. Since she was ostensibly part of some military, he was surprised she would dye her hair unless blue hair was a natural color in her world.

Gavin went back and looked out the cockpit. He supposed it was his shift so he’d better keep watch. Ivy would be mad if she woke up and found him asleep. He wanted her to trust him more. They were both stuck in this strange world together so he really wanted them to get along and be friends.
Alexis was meeting with the remnants of her army and the villagers. Gavin still felt it was odd that the women he’d met in this world so far were throwing themselves at him. He was in no way, shape, or form a ladies man or player and it made him uncomfortable. They barely knew him and he of course didn’t know any of them very well either. From what Alexis had said, the men of this world had multiple wives. Gavin wasn’t sure if he was ready for something like that.
He yawned as he watched the villagers moving about. It was getting dark by the time Alexis had come back. She wasn’t alone and was accompanied by yet another cute girl. This one was a golden haired fox eared girl in dirty armor. Alexis introduced her as the second in command by the name of Suzanne. He said hello and watched in amusement as she looked around the cockpit in wonder.
Alexis handed him some food for himself and Ivy which he appreciated since it was better than the military rations. She also found them beds but he told her that Ivy was sleeping while he kept watch and that he would sleep later. He indicated the open room where Ivy was asleep which they peeked in curiously. She was hesitant to leave until Gavin reassured her that he would be all right until Ivy woke up. Suzanne thanked him for saving Alexis before smiling shyly and leaving. After she left, Gavin couldn’t help but idly wonder if she had a fluffy fox tail beneath the armor.
