Gavin returned to the cockpit with Alexis who wanted to discuss their next move. Ivy was back in her seat again, looking refreshed. She had showered and changed her clothes while he was gone. “It won’t be long before a scouting party comes to check the town.” Alexis said worriedly. “If we can get the main power working, then we wouldn’t need to worry about the air ship or the scouts.” Ivy replied.
“Can the auto repair thing fix it?” Gavin asked. “Not entirely. We will need to replace some of the parts ourselves.” Ivy said, pushing the button to open the storage room. She got up and went to the shelves, returning with a couple parts and some tools. “Ok, I’ll help.” Gavin said, following her to the airlock. “If you need anything, just let me know.” Alexis said, also following along.
Instead of taking the lift down, it looked like they were going up. Ivy handed the tools to Gavin and started climbing a ladder Gavin hadn’t noticed before. He followed her with the tools while Alexis waited for them on the platform. They ended up on top of the mech, above the cockpit. It was quite the view of the village. The villagers were in awe of the mech but the soldiers kept them back.
They were a mixture of beast and demon like people with only a few humans. They were also mostly women again but he did think he saw at least one or two guys in the crowd. Ivy got to work removing a couple of the panels and he handed her what tools she needed. He had no idea how to fix any of the mech’s technology so had to rely on her. Gavin sat down and watched her work, kind of amazed at how fast she was taking thing apart.

She handed him pieces which he carefully set to the side. Some of it looked vaguely familiar but other things were completely foreign. Gavin held his tongue even though he wanted to talk with her. He decided he didn’t want to bother her and make her lose her concentration. It took over an hour but everything finally got put back together and the panels were closed. “Will it work now?” Gavin asked. “There is only one way to find out.” She replied, going to the ladder.
They returned to the airlock to find Alexis had fallen asleep while sitting against the wall. He woke her up and they went back into the cockpit. Ivy got into her seat and started fiddling with her display. Gavin and Alexis looked on hopefully. It didn’t sound different but he thought the lights had gotten brighter. “Well?” He asked. “It worked, we now have full power.” Ivy said, smiling and giving him a thumbs up.
”Next I’ll prioritize the damaged leg to bring it back to 100 percent. Once that’s done I’d like to get the thrusters working again but that will take more work.” Ivy said studying the display. The longer they could go without being discovered, the more repairs would get done. He just hoped their luck would hold out. He asked Alexis how far away the next town was but it sounded like it would take several days of travel. He wanted the leg to be fixed before they attempted that.
From what the display said, the automatic repairs to the leg should be done by this evening. Then they could hit the road again. Their good mood was interrupted by a blip on the radar screen. A quick glance was all that was needed to know what it was. The air ship was back. They were ready for it this time however, at least Gavin hoped so.
