Chapter 24: Second Jewel

"Heh. You're strange, Iris. Sleep well," Tael said with a smirk as he turned over.

---

"Huh? Where am I?" Iris wondered aloud, feeling disoriented.

A familiar breeze swept by, stirring a memory. "Wait, I know this place."

She felt something squishy beneath her and heard the faint sound of someone crying. Her eyes were closed, and she struggled to open them against a strange pressure. After a few moments, she managed to pry them open, sensing something was off.

Looking up, Iris saw a woman with long black hair. Golden eyes glistened with tears, which fell steadily down her face. Each tear that landed on Iris's cheek brought a chilling sensation. Her head was pressed against the woman's large breasts, explaining the soft, squishy feeling.

"I can't breathe," Iris gasped, struggling to free her head from the suffocating embrace.

"Iris, finally you came to see me again! Also, can you deal with this strange man here?" Alka cried, biting into a piece of chocolate.

Iris wondered where Alka had gotten the chocolate. But a grunting sound drew her attention, and she noticed Kaguya.

"How did I even end up here?" Kaguya muttered, staring at Alka with an annoyed expression.

**A Few Minutes Earlier**

"Damn, how did I end up here?" Kaguya wondered. His last memory was of a girl he saw, followed by a rush of strange messages in his head explaining what was happening and why he was chosen. It was overwhelming, and he needed time to process it. The Purple Jewel, a servant of the former purple Gemaris, had chosen him.

As he tried to comprehend everything and accept his fate, a pair of beautiful legs came flying at him, accompanied by a harsh yet beautiful voice yelling, "Intruder, die!" Alka screamed, drop-kicking Kaguya in the face and sending him flying.

"Argh!" Kaguya grumbled, rubbing his face and glaring at Alka. "Hey, what was that for?" he yelled angrily.

"This energy... you're a Regal!" Alka gasped before her gaze turned cold.

"Yes, I am," Kaguya replied, standing up.

"If you're here, it means... It's impossible! How is a Regal chosen as a Jewel?" Alka exclaimed, noticing the half-purple, half-black jewel on his forehead, identical to her own.

"I don't know," Kaguya shrugged.

"Hmmm, did you meet any purple-skinned woman or man?" Alka asked curiously.

"Hmm, I did, actually. She called herself Tanzanite," Kaguya answered with a displeased tone, clearly not fond of Tanzanite.

"What did she say?" Alka inquired.

"Kaguya," Alka called out, but he was lost in thought. 'His name suddenly just came into my head, meaning he could really be a Jewel.'

"It's foggy, but I remember her crying and then slapping me. After that, I appeared here. So I have no idea what's going on," he mumbled, touching his cheek as he recalled the memories Tanzanite had placed in his head.

"To think a Regal is chosen as a Jewel," Alka said nervously, fidgeting. The girl who had caught him now stood in a strange purple space.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

"What do you mean by Jewel?" Kaguya asked, clearly confused.

"Ah yes, Tanzanite didn't explain it to you," Alka realized. "Since she didn't, I shall! You were chosen to be the next Black and Purple Gemaris Jewel with me!"

"You say what?" Kaguya responded, looking utterly bewildered.

“Don't act stupid. Wasn't it your objective to locate the second-generation Black Gemaris and Jewel and kill them? Since you're a Regal, after all,” Alka spat, standing protectively in front of Iris.

“Do you think the Regals actually have a way to locate a Jewel or a Gemaris?” Kaguya asked, raising an eyebrow. “If there were truly a way, they would randomly attack powerful people. Only high-level Regals can do that,” he explained.

“So when that Regal destroyed my planet…” Alka mumbled, clutching her chest.

“Since you're a Regal, you'll surely know some information. So tell me!” Alka demanded.

“Just keep that spear away from me,” Kaguya stated calmly, pointing at the spear in Alka's hand. “And also, why should I tell you anything? I'm just a victim brought here without even giving my consent!” he yelled angrily.

“I understand you on that one,” Alka sighed as her spear disappeared. Iris, who was behind them, watched the two adults talking quietly.

“Then tell me about yourself!” Alka asked with a scrutinizing gaze.

“Hah, well, I'm a rogue Regal. I kill other Regals, so they were after my head,” Kaguya revealed nonchalantly.

“What was your objective?” Alka asked.

“I just got tired of seeing Regals make other people's lives miserable,” Kaguya stated calmly. “When you've lived as long as I have, it's hard to ignore others' suffering when you have the power to stop it,” he said, his face slightly sorrowful.

“Okay,” Alka replied blankly, not seeming to care.

“I was being emotional here; have some empathy!” Kaguya yelled at the rather apathetic Alka.

“Now that I've told you something about myself, could you please tell me what's going on? I'm quite lost here. And is there a way for me to quit?” Kaguya asked, his eyes tracing to Iris, who looked like she was almost about to cry when she heard him say "quit." Her eyes made Kaguya feel a bit guilty.

“Well, how should I start?” Alka wondered, scratching her cheek. “You and I have been selected to be the Jewel of the second-generation Black and Purple Gemaris,” Alka declared.

“Two of the most powerful Gemaris, huh? I thought they were dead millions of years ago,” Kaguya mumbled. “Wait, did you say Black and Purple, like two separate people?” he finally realized with a surprised expression. “Wait a sec, why is the Black and Purple Jewel in your eyes and forehead merged?” He asked, finally taking a closer look at Alka. “Don't tell me it is one person,” he mumbled, staring at the child behind Alka.

Alka nodded.

“But that's impossible! Even though Gemaris can absorb other Gemaris gems, it's impossible to use two at the same time!” Kaguya exclaimed, his body trembling with shock.

“Wait, you know about Gemaris?” Aurianna mumbled, surprised yet relieved. 'I'm glad I don't have to spend time explaining to him,' she thought, as she herself didn't know much.

“Of course I'd know!” Kaguya spat.

“Well, I don't, so could you fill me in on some info here?” Alka pleaded. “Also, I'm sorry for kicking your face.”

“Hmm, let's say they're gods, but the higher-ranking ones—many times more powerful than Regals. They create dimensions, galaxies, universes, and everything in existence,” Kaguya explained with a serious expression, and Alka gulped.

“The Black Gemaris has the power of Destruction and Chaos, while the Purple Gemaris had the power of Life and Creation. So, do you know what this means?” Kaguya asked, eyeing Iris, who seemed unfazed and listened as if she were hearing a story.

“It means Iris has the power to recreate life and destroy it,” Iris answered with a cold smile before reverting to a naive look.

“Exactly,” Kaguya responded nervously meeting Iris eyes which was cold for a few seconds before returning back to being innocent. “This is more complicated than I thought.”

“So, has she already awakened?” Kaguya asked Alka.

“Yes, she just did a few days ago, and that's when I heard of your summoning. Why do you ask? Iris, if you're bored, you can go back if you want,” Alka suggested.

“Okay, Iris, could you sit here and enjoy some pastries? Kaguya and I need to discuss something important,” Alka said, escorting Iris to a tea party table filled with all sorts of sweets.

“Iris doesn’t even understand what you both are saying anyway,” Iris sighed before focusing on the food in front of her.

“Can you tell me how to quit being a Jewel?” Kaguya asked with a serious expression.

“If there was a way, would I be here?” Alka replied, annoyed.

“Then what if I kill her?” Kaguya asked, his tone dark.

[You would not be able to. Second-generation Jewels aren’t able to kill their masters no matter what. If a Jewel tried to kill their master, they would receive a punishment worse than death.]

“A system?” Kaguya wondered, clearly surprised by the screen that appeared before him.

[Yes, I am the Gemaris System. I was born to help monitor the new Gemaris.]

“So, is there a ranking?” Alka asked curiously.

[Yes, there is,] the system answered before displaying the information.
