Chapter 15- Ability User

Chapter 15- Ability User

"I'm awake?" Iris muttered to herself as she got up. Her room looked quite different from what she remembered; it used to be purple, but now it's white. And it seemed much bigger too.

"What kind of dream was that? Wait, what dream? Why can't I remember the dream?"

"Iris!!!" Sally called out to her, tears streaming down her face as she hugged Iris tightly. "You're finally awake."

"Sally, why are you crying?" Iris asked, confused by Sally's overreaction. She had just fallen asleep—or so she thought.

"You were asleep for 15 days. I was beginning to worry," Sally explained, wiping her tears away.

"15 days?! Does that mean I had no delicious food for 15 days?" Iris exclaimed in shock. "I think my head is spinning."

"Where are Mum and Dad?" Iris asked, scanning the room for them.

"I'll get the master and the mistress here right away," Sally said before rushing out of the room to call Iris's parents.

"First of all..." Iris looked up, seemingly staring at something.

"I thought Sally would be able to see it," she muttered. In front of Iris were two screens—one black, one purple—both displaying the same message: [The Gemaris System.]

Iris tapped both screens, not expecting what happened next. The screens spun around her and clashed together. When she opened her eyes, there was just one screen, half black and half purple. She could now see the status interface she had heard about in interviews with Heroes. In their world, it was quite normal for some people to be able to see their status like a system.

"I'll just ask Daddy what this is. And I also wonder who Alka is. Her name just came to my mind in that dream. Strange."

Jennifer and Isakawa soon walked into Iris's room, overjoyed to see her awake.

"Iris!!" Jennifer exclaimed as she ran to her daughter and hugged her excitedly. "How are you, dear?"

"I'm fine, Mum. No need to worry," Iris smiled enthusiastically as she hugged her mother back.

"Iris!" Isakawa called out in a serious voice, arms crossed. Iris gulped nervously, wondering if she had done something wrong.

"Congratulations on becoming an Ability User," Isakawa suddenly blurted out, surprising her.

"...."

Iris was shocked at her father's announcement. "I'm... an… Ability User? Whaaattttt?!!"

"I'm an Ability User!!" Iris yelled again, jumping on the bed with excitement until she felt a sudden 'crack' in her back. She immediately sat down to process everything.

"So, how did I awaken my ability? I don't remember much," Iris asked innocently.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

"Hmmm, yours was actually strange yet astonishing. It caused quite a commotion,” Isakawa said.

"Daddy, won't you tell me?" Iris pouted, throwing her hands onto her bed. ‘It seems my bed has changed too. It feels fluffier than before, and the blankets are bigger,’ she thought.

"If you really want to know, well, you destroyed the whole house. Our former home," Isakawa said with a calm smile, while Shiro looked at him in shock. "We're now living in a new house."

"....."

Complete silence took over the room as Iris felt like her soul was leaving her body.

"I'm so sooorrryyyy!!!!" Iris stood up and bowed deeply, her hands clasped together.

"Hmm, how should I punish you?" Isakawa mused, almost laughing at the face she made. Her eyes were filled with tears, making her look like an innocent child wrongly accused.

"Come on, Isakawa, that's enough. I'm taking Iris for lunch. Iris, today we're eating all we can until we become fat," Jennifer said, raising her hand with sparkling eyes.

"Yes, Mum, we'll eat all we want." Iris's mood brightened immediately.

The two ladies began jumping around, excitedly discussing what food they should eat.

"Agghh, you ladies, why do you do this to your father and husband?" Isakawa cried. "Why do you want to do that? Overeating isn't good, you know."

"Hahahahah!!" Everyone burst out laughing, enjoying the moment like a happy family.

"Now, Iris," Isakawa said, staring into Iris's blue eyes. "If I'm right, you'll be able to see a screen in front of you that shows some status, right?"

"Yes, Dad, how did you know? I was even going to ask about it," Iris agreed with a nod.

"Ha, as I guessed, you inherited my sight. I have an ability that allows me to see people's status and skills," Isakawa bragged proudly.

"Isn't it like an X-ray then? Ugh, Dad," Iris gave Isakawa a weird look.

"Cough, cough, it's not like that at all," he coughed nervously. What was his daughter even thinking? Even if he had X-ray powers, he wouldn't dare use them since he already had a beautiful wife to look at every day.

"Now, back to what I was saying. Typically, only individuals with exceptionally rare Hero Classes can see their system. Most people need Tina, the Ability Checker, to view their current Status and Abilities," Isakawa explained.

Curiosity piqued, Isakawa asked, "So, what is your Job Class? On your status screen, you'll see a section called Job Class."

"Oh, I see. Umm, my Job Class is, ummmm..." Iris stuttered.

"Yes, Iris, go on," Jennifer encouraged.

"Well, I've never heard of a Job Class called Soul Eater and Death," Iris said, her expression confused.

Isakawa's face grew serious. "Soul Eater and another class called Death, huh? What skills do the Job Classes Soul Eater and Death have?" he asked.

Iris frowned slightly as she read the screen. "Well… I see [Devour] and [Blood Summoning] and [Soul Copy]."

"That's indeed unusual. So those are the only skills you have since you're level one?" Isakawa asked calmly.

"Yes, it seems so," Iris replied, clearly excited.

"Hahahaha! My daughter has awakened to such a rare class! I'm so happy," Isakawa laughed hysterically, jumping up to hug his daughter.

"Dad, stop fooling around," Iris complained as her father rubbed his cheek against hers.

"But shouldn't I be happy when my daughter can finally achieve her dream of becoming a Hero?" Isakawa asked with a pouty face.

"I guess you can say that, Daddy," Iris blushed in embarrassment as she looked at her two happy parents.

"Well, we will all be traveling to meet my family in two days," Isakawa added, crossing his arms.

"Isakawa…" Jennifer called out, clearly frightened at the mention of his family.

"Don't worry…" Isakawa comforted her. "Everyone will be coming, especially my three elder brothers and their families. And, of course, the main star: my father and his three concubines."

Iris looked at her dad and could see the anger in his eyes when he spoke about his family.

"Jennifer and Iris, when you visit my parents, don't eat or drink anything they give you, and don't use your Ability," Isakawa warned coldly. Both Iris and Jennifer gulped and nodded.

"But Daddy, aren't your family members nice people?" Iris asked, her face confused.

"They are worse than bad people…" Isakawa's tone sent a chill through them. When Isakawa said someone was bad, they were truly bad.

"I see, then Iris will listen to Daddy."

"That's good. One more thing, Iris, you'll be playing a game when you go there," Isakawa said, kneeling by her side.
