Chapter 17: Meeting Tael

Chapter 17: Meeting Tael

“Wow, since when did we have a private jet?" Iris asked in awe, staring at the huge and beautiful aircraft before her at the airport.

"We've always had one, but we never used it," Jennifer confirmed.

Iris and Jennifer had just arrived at the airport with their belongings for the family games event organized by the Subaru household for each new generation. Isakawa hadn't come with them since he had to pick up something before arriving.

As Iris turned around, she saw her father walking towards them with Sally, who was carrying Isakawa's luggage, accompanied by Dulac and another person.

"Have I seen you somewhere before, mister?" Iris asked, eyeing Dulac suspiciously.

"Probably at your home since I work for your father," Dulac replied with a smile.

"Hmmm," Iris continued to scrutinize him for a moment before laughing. "That's okay then. My dad is still the most handsome man around. You look like an old man compared to him."

Dulac stood there, stunned, and coughed up some blood. 'Old man? I'm not even that old,' he lamented inwardly, now feeling insecure about his looks.

"Sir Isakawa," Dulac called out, straightening his glasses.

"What's wrong, Dulac? Your voice sounds stiff," Isakawa asked, confused.

"Sir, do you think I look old?"

"...." They both stood in silence for a moment before Isakawa started laughing but tried to cover his mouth.

"Sir, I can hear you laughing," Dulac said, his eyes tearing up.

"Hahaha, why would you ask me such a question? Is it because of what Iris said?" Isakawa burst out laughing heartily.

"Sir, just answer me."

"Not really. You're quite normal but not compared to me," Isakawa bragged with a smug look.

Isakawa's words caused Dulac to cough up more blood, and he slumped to the ground, crying, "I'm never going to get a wife."

"Hmm, Daddy, who's that boy?" Iris asked, pointing at the young fair boy behind Isakawa. He had dark purple hair and dull purple eyes and appeared to be around twelve years old.

"Iris, this is Tael. He's eight years old, and he'll be looking after you," Isakawa introduced the boy.

"Daddy, why are you lying? He doesn't look eight; he looks like he's twelve," Iris puffed, crossing her arms.

"I just matured fast," Tael shrugged, looking at Iris.

Isakawa turned to her and patted her head. "Iris, I’d like you to meet Tael and get to know him. He’ll be your escort to the Subaru household."

"Wow, my own escort!" Iris squealed excitedly.

"Hi Tael, I'm Iris. Nice to meet you," Iris said, extending her hand toward Tael.

"Hi Iris, nice to meet you too. I'm Tael," Tael greeted with a smile, though he constantly received glares from Sally.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

"Aww, you two are so cute," Jennifer chuckled as she watched them.

"Well, Tael, you’re Iris’s new friend," Iris declared, grabbing his arm tightly.

"Hey, let go of me! Personal space!" Tael protested with a cold face, pushing Iris away. But Iris just giggled.

"Let's hurry and go. I’ll show you my game collection on my iPad," Iris said, giving him a thumbs up as she held onto Tael’s hand.

"Iris, you shouldn’t drag him around like that," Isakawa warned.

"Tael, has Iris met you before?" Jennifer asked, scrutinizing him closely.

"Not that I remember," Tael shrugged again, a smirk on his face.

"I see."

They all boarded the jet, which took off for Canada, where the main Subaru house was located.

"Let's play Battle of Duty. It’s a really fun shooting game. I’ll show you," Iris said, handing the iPad to Tael.

"Do whatever you want," Tael huffed, reclining with an arm behind his head.

"...So, Iris, how old are you?" Tael asked.

"Me? Well, I’m five," Iris answered, looking confused.

"Not bad, you’re still growing." Tael had a flashback to when he saved Iris and carried her. "No wonder you’re so small."

"Iris is not small! Iris will grow big like Mama one day," she pouted, her face bright red. "You and Daddy are the same!"

"Eh, Iris, what does that mean?" Jennifer asked, puzzled.

"Daddy told Iris that men like girls who are big and beautiful like Mama, with big boobs," Iris explained, raising her hands.

"Isakawa!!" Jennifer glared at him like an angry tiger ready to pounce.

"But Jennifer, I was just telling the truth," Isakawa nervously explained.

"So, do you mean any beautiful woman you see with a big chest, you’ll be interested in them?" she asked, angry veins popping up on her forehead.

"Well... obviously not. Jennifer, you’re the only one for me. You’re the most beautiful, the cutest, and the nicest person I’ve ever met," Isakawa confessed, sweetening his words.

Jennifer huffed. "Hmph, that’s better."

Suddenly, Jennifer began coughing. "Cough, cough, cough…"

As Isakawa glanced at Jennifer, he spotted blood on her handkerchief from her recent coughing fit. She also appeared paler than usual.

"Jennifer, take your medicine and rest," Isakawa urged, his expression filled with concern.

"Don't worry, Isakawa, I'm fine," Jennifer assured him weakly.

"Mama," Iris called out, her eyes fixed on Jennifer's pale face and Isakawa's worried expression.

On the plane, Isakawa wore a serious expression as he recalled his meeting with Dr. Yong Feng.

"So, Yong Feng, what information were you able to gather?" Isakawa inquired, watching the screen displaying the data.

Dr. Yong Feng hesitated before responding, "During our initial stage of the experiment, her blood appeared normal for a while until some changes occurred... Her blood became brighter and exhibited healing properties akin to a top-grade healing potion."

Yong Feng continued, "We also observed that once something came into contact with her blood during a specific state—what I'll refer to as the Feeding Period—her blood would consume it. Anything in contact during that period would evaporate," he pointed to the video displaying their previous experiments.

"That doesn't seem particularly unusual," Isakawa sighed.

Yong Feng added, "However, her blood volume also increases during this time, sir."

"Hmmm, I see," Isakawa muttered, his expression growing stern. "Is there anything else?"

Yong Feng hesitated, sensing the gravity of his next revelation. "Actually, we observed something particularly interesting during the assassination attempt on Iris."

"They likely intended to kidnap her," Isakawa said with a displeased tone.

"Yes, sir. During that incident, Iris's blood exhibited a strange reaction. It formed into sharp, strong claws that began breaking through the metallic glass container it was contained in—almost as if it were alive. We managed to contain it swiftly before the situation escalated further," Yong Feng explained.

"You may leave now," Isakawa dismissed him with a wave of his hand, though he maintained a smile.

"Sir, if I may offer a word of advice, though you may not require it..." Yong Feng chuckled nervously. "Be vigilant regarding your daughter, Iris. If she strays, she may become more of a monster than you or I could imagine," he said with a serious tone.

Dr. Yong Feng bowed politely and departed, leaving Isakawa to ponder the weight of his words.

"A monster, huh," Isakawa murmured to himself, recalling Dr. Yong Feng's words as the scientist departed. "This is going to be interesting."

After three hours of flying, the plane finally touched down in Canada. They disembarked from the jet and made their way out of the airport.

"This isn't fair. How is it that Tael can play better than me after I just taught him for about 30 minutes?" Iris lamented, feeling embarrassed that she couldn't impress someone new.
