94. Impudent Part 3

The surrounding crowd of human supremacists is cautious of the situation and unsure if they can act to aid Orin and Karise. They all saw the large man, Orin, leap away. The unknown young man moved so quickly that if they blinked they might have missed his sudden dash forward, believing that he teleported instead.

However, it was precisely because he saw that level of speed that Orin retreated with Karise in surprise. Ajax was hoping they would get out of his way. He purposely aimed for the woman to see if the man could get her out of the way, which he did. If he wasn't able to, he would simply have dealt with the weaker fighter first and then attacked the blonde man next.

Luckily, Ajax is not that bad at winging it when combat is involved. His battle instincts are surprisingly honed in this world.

Could that be because of his experiences with Shaula fighting petty criminals on the street over the past few weeks? What if he came to this world of Omicron with enhanced battle intelligence, another super power like his ability to understand all languages spoken here. He signals towards Prisca with a slight smile.

"Alright, go ahead, Prisca, I'll watch your back." Ajax says, confidently yet calmly.

Prisca is somewhat stunned as well by Ajax's short, solid display of power. But, she is a professional and her patient always comes first. She moves to heal the demihuman man without a second thought upon getting Ajax’s affirmation.

Prisca kneels next to the man and first positions him carefully so she can better treat him.

She keeps her hands busy, making sure the beastkin man doesn't stay asleep. The man groans as she lightly slaps his cheek. She carefully starts her healing and checks the man for any symptoms of a severe concussion. She checks his pupils with a magically operated pocket flashlight.

The middle aged man seems to be fine and not in a truly severe state of danger, such as a brain bleed.

He was originally groggy, but even that passes as he blinks a few times. The bruises on his face are slowly wiped out of existence through Prisca’s healing magic. Ajax thinks that if he and Shaula can ever learn to use magic, they should learn healing spells first. The man starts darting his eyes around, carefully viewing the situation above him.

"Hi, are you alright, sir?" Prisca asks, softly and slowly, ensuring that she doesn’t spook him.

"...what is… where am I, m-miss?"

"You're at Maz square, two people attacked you and accused you of pickpocketing. I'm currently administering some treatment."

"Who… oh no."

The man on the ground looks over at the two people who assaulted him without provocation. His eyes become fearful as he sees them. That brunette woman really just accused him out of nowhere and he had no way to argue against her either. Her large friend got involved before he could state his case.

The middle aged man swears he felt his brain bounce around in his head a few times when the man struck him.

The surrounding crowd didn't see anything and the woman was persuasive while he was incapacitated. His life was very nearly destroyed; even he didn't think they could shatter his world so quickly with little recourse.

However, right now, there is another human man who seems to be facing down these two people who nearly lynched him.

"What do you think you're doing, you shithead!?" Karise shouts towards Ajax.

She looks at the man in hatred. He's just standing there now. However, he's directly in front of the demihuman whore and the mongrel that she and Orin were planning to continue using. There is something about his face as well.

He… didn't even break a sweat. She thinks to herself.

Karise grits her teeth. She doesn't like his eyes. They're looking at her, but not really even considering her. He looks somewhat annoyed, but only at her shouting.

Ajax doesn't want the guards to head over here, but luckily neither do Karise or Orin. Orin places his hand on her shoulder to try and calm her down. The guards wouldn't come over when she, as a human, was insulting their profession earlier, but they might come over for a brawl.

Seeing Ajax’s expression showing nothing more than annoyance, Karise realizes something.

That man… He doesn't consider me a threat worth his time at all. The nerve of the prick.

For some reason it reminds her of her parents. She was the middle child in a large family, her parents and her siblings rarely gave her any attention. Yet her parents died in poverty, and her brothers and sisters went their own way, disregarding her existence. She doesn't know where most of them even are anymore.

She doesn't like being disregarded… but she can't let her hang ups stop her from completing her task either. She isn't just an abandoned child anymore, she is a member of the fearless Twin Moons. She can't let herself become clouded by her emotions. Though she wonders what her and Orin’s path ahead will be at this point.

Shit. Shit! Now what the fuck can we do? Should we just go back and tell the leader we failed? If we can't bring any of these uninitiated out there, there's no point staying in the square any more.

Orin doesn't seem like he wants to leave just yet. His eyes stare at Ajax, predatory. He doesn't smile or grin, but Karise can read him like a book. He wants to have a bout. But, his instincts are telling him to not provoke the man into anger. As a result, he does not try to approach the demihuman whore and middle aged man.

Meanwhile, Prisca helps the ginger demihuman up and he slowly starts to leave. Ajax can tell that he doesn't look upset, distraught or panicked. He almost looks as if he's just tired of life. The concussion has definitely done something to his mental wellbeing, though honestly Ajax believes that it’s just been the situation the man found himself in.

All he wants to do is leave the area, go home, read a book or go to sleep.

Prisca leaves with him while taking a short look back at the display behind her. She wonders for Ajax’s safety. However, he doesn't look at her, instead focusing on the two in front of him who could try to go around him to target Prisca and her patient so long as she sticks around.

Prisca quickly leaves, expecting that Ajax will find her just as easily as he finds those that are injured. As she and the middle aged man disappear into the crowds, Karise clicks her tongue.

I wanted to take my time with that man…

Her thoughts are interrupted by Ajax, who now looks like he's ready to start something.

"You two… what were you trying to do here?" Ajax asks for the first time. "I'm curious where you were trying to lead all these people." He points towards the surrounding crowd of human supremacists. Several of them have already dispersed, having lost the excitement that Karise tried to incite.

Karise feels slight fear at his words. She wonders if she thought too little of this person.

"Your speech bothered me somewhat. I was waiting for you to get to the point, to make your true sales pitch. But all you did was tell this crowd that you were going to punish that man elsewhere and bring them to that 'elsewhere'. So I was wondering… was that your sales pitch? The 'elsewhere' part?"

Orin tenses up.

"Well, it's not like I really care about where you're taking the crowd of fools. My problem started when you hurt someone trying to take them there–"

Orin leaps, his sword in hand.
