Chapter 49: Unseen Side part 2

Chapter 49:

Father… it was a word he hadn't heard in a long time.

A word that had now become so foreign to his ears.

Angulus could only see the figure of his son Balak leaving him alone. There was nothing he could do but obey the orders Balak had given.

What was carved on his body was a special tattoo owned by the Betlam Family. Whoever has this tattoo on their body, their will cannot be freed unless they seize the contract that binds them.

Even a Great Magus could not escape this bondage. This is a creation and legacy owned by the Betlam family that has been perfected continuously since the founder of the Betlam family first created it.

Zaratul looked at him with a cold gaze. From the start, he never left Balak or Vin's side. In silence, he listened without saying anything and witnessed everything.

Initially, he didn't care about everything Balak tried to do. No matter what Balak tried to do, he just needed to report it to Leon or Erick and let him make the decision.

With his Master currently in the magic tower of Babel, matters in the real world were left to Erick.

“With Balak gone, it is time for me to complete my task.” Zaratul stood in front of Angulus. When he was about to read the memory of this person, Angulus' eyes stared at Zaratul's red eyes.

"Who???"

Amid the darkness, Angulus slowly stood up and looked towards the narrow room that imprisoned him. He was sure that he was alone in this place, but for some reason, he felt like someone was always watching him

But there is no one here. Just himself.

"Am I wrong?" Angulus released his magic which swept the entire prison but there was still no one around.

“I didn't expect that the Betlam family harbored a monster like him.”

On top of the clock tower, Zaratul returned to where he was standing before. Magic energy that was so great but so subtle that it didn't cause the slightest ripple could be felt by him.

It was such subtle and so great control that he was so impressed. Even more than him now.

“If it has to be said, that person has already reached the 5th Loop great magus stage. He has almost touched the threshold of a Tier 3 Magus. Which means, he is already at the late stage.”

“Erick should probably know about this.” Zaratul immediately sent a message to Erick via the system he had. This is one function of the many functions that the system has that he can access.

After sending the message, Zaratul immediately disappeared into the darkness of the night.

In prison, Vin returns to his previous place alone. Balak had already left via another path so he didn't see what was happening right in front of him at the moment.

In front of him, the body of his friend who had died and lost his life lay in front of him. Between his body and head, there were several traces of blood and a strange liquid that gave off a foul smell.

“I didn't expect someone to be able to get past the security in this place. You know, that's quite interesting to see.”

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

This is really interesting. But what is that person's goal? The prison in this place didn't have anyone worthy of being noticed by the outside world. Apart from the captives who were not worth paying attention to, the only ones of value in this place were the few people downstairs and Angulus Wretcher released by Balak.

“It shouldn't be possible that it's Angulus. After all, that person was sealed all over and was not someone who was weak despite being detained for more than 10 years.”

"But that doesn't rule out the possibility that they are also after him, right?" One of the guards came to Vin carrying a wet, headless body. He threw it casually without the slightest expression.

“Whatever that guy wanted, he already killed two people here. Do we need to investigate?”

Vin looked at the two corpses in front of him and shook his head. "No need. Just report this information to him and we just wait for further orders. Besides, living in the sewers is bad enough and I don't want to go anywhere even worse.”

“Then I will send this matter to him.” The man was about to leave before he looked at Vin. “By the way, did you meet Balak? ”

"Yes. He just released Angulus from his custody and started the plan he had prepared beforehand.”

“Strange, isn't this too fast? Even with the talent he has and his status as a 7-ring Magus, there is no way he would carry out his plan this quickly.”

"I am also confused." While answering, Vin took a bottle containing oil and poured it on the bodies of the two dead guards. He created a small fire and burned both bodies. After that, he continued. “But don't worry. I'll look into it. You just need to wait for the results.”

“Then that's good. I am waiting for good news from you.” Smiling, the man left Vin as he saw a body burning with flames.

In the middle of the dark night, Zaratul, who was following Angulus from a distance, suddenly stopped when he saw the notification sent by Erick. It was a call and Zaratul answered it immediately.

“Can you hear me?” Erick's voice echoed inside Zaratul's head. Even though he knew this function, experiencing it for the first time was enough to amaze him.

There wasn't the slightest mana fluctuation or magic used to transmit sound to his head at this time. Apart from that, this system also explains that communication between members is also guaranteed to be secure and will not be heard even when someone tries to read their current thoughts, consciousness or soul.

"I can. Is there something?”

“I've read the message you sent and have seen the situation. For now, I want you to prevent what Angulus is trying to do. If he is indeed following Balak's plan, then hold him back from attacking Rosemary's family as long as possible until I am ready to make my move.” Erick's voice seemed to groan a little when he spoke to Zaratul.

“Isn't this good for us? If the Betlam family and the Rosemary family feud and destroy each other, we can recruit Felix more easily.”

"I know. But it's Master's order to restrain anything that would break the balance of power in Maple City. For now, you just need to restrain Angulus from destroying Rosemary's family in Maple City. As much as possible, injure the person but do not kill him.”

Erick paused briefly before continuing. “What we need now is time.”

“You don't need to say any further. If Master orders it, then I will do it.” Zaratul immediately disconnected Erick's call and looked at Angulus with a sharp gaze.

Its mouth smiled with ghastliness and horror as it disappeared into the darkness of the night. The distance between the two was already quite far but for him right now, the distance between the two was just a small matter that he could ignore in an instant.

One step he took… his body immediately disappeared.

This was something called a shadow step across space. A bit of magic he learned because of its practicality. This was also the magic he used to escape when Angulus released his detection throughout the prison.

He reappeared 100 steps away from Angulus and removed the magic covering his entire body. “I'm just holding him here, so there's no need to use attacks that utilize consciousness.”

At least it wouldn't kill him. Zaratul thought.

In an instant, dozens of black balls formed in thin air which consumed a lot of Zaratul's mana. He utilized a quick release system that was so taxing on the consciousness he had.

Dozens of balls were shot towards Angulus who had stopped while looking at the black ball in the air.

“Forming a barrier.” Angulus immediately released his magic and formed a barrier shaped like a prism with him inside.

Dozens of balls hit the prism shield and caused severe shocks to the shield. But Angulus seemed so calm and not too affected by it.

“Forming fire, forming wind, Change of formation and shape, Tornado of fire,” Angulus said in a low tone. Even so, a huge flow of mana immediately formed in the form of a tornado that swept away all the enemies in its path.

And Zaratul's response, he looked at it without saying anything. All he did was raise his hand and release a huge blade of mana that cut the Fire tornado in half.

“First stage language system. The language used seems like a language of his own creation.”
