Chapter 1: This is boring

There is a saying that says, Life is short so enjoy whatever you want. Appreciate what you have because one day it will be gone. Seize the opportunity that comes because it will not come a second time.

Leon put the notebook he had back into his pocket. He sat on the motorbike while looking at the night sky which brought a nostalgic atmosphere that he had felt before. Beside him, his old friend whom he met when he visited the land of cherry blossoms in the past was also sitting on his motorbike while smoking cigarette smoke in his mouth.

The two of them are currently on a small hill located in a village far from the city atmosphere. The night was beautiful and clear with the full moon shining brightly above the sky. The lights from the lamps spread widely leading to an old temple where people gathered and partied with smiles while celebrating the summer festival.

"Leon, my friend, why didn't you inform me when you came here? I can pick you up at the airport if you want. There is no need for you to be tired from coming here alone." Leon's friend, Tsukishima said while exhaling cigarette smoke from his mouth. He saw his friend who had a foreign face that was not like the residents of the cherry blossom country.

Even though his hair is black and a little long, his skin shows European skin. His body is not too tall but not too short either. What is unique about Leon is that his opposite eye has a black iris on the right and a blue iris on the left.

He is a person who has a rare heterochromia disorder that only very few people in this world have. But that doesn't make his eyes strange, but instead makes them unique and blend perfectly with Leon's mature body.

"It's not that I didn't want to tell you when I came here. It's just that I'm quite tired after going and traveling around China and Taiwan." Leon answered while yawning because he was tired.

"You're still going on this trip around the world?"

"Of course. For me, traveling around the world and enjoying what this world provides is one of the hobbies that I use to spend the free time I have. Honestly, there is nothing more exciting than going and traveling around the world while experiencing the experience of seeing the world."

Tsukishima listened while throwing a can of beer at Leon. The two of them enjoyed a cold beer while listening to Leon's experiences while he was traveling around several areas in China that he had not yet visited.

Some old friends he got to know during his travels, some places that still haven't changed, and some that have changed. He even made some new friends when Leon visited China. Leon even shared several other experiences when he visited other countries and his home country.

Tsukishima listened while taking a sip of the cold beer in his hand. He could only sigh while saying it had been a long time. Been a long time.

It had been more than 10 years since he knew Leon. At that time, the experience he remembered most about this person was the genetic abnormality in his eyes that made him unique when they were still at university. At that time, Leon was completely different from himself.

You know, when others come in the best clothes they have, there's that fool who comes to campus with a bald head carrying a fishing rod and a big tuna on his back. It was absolutely huge and so caught everyone's attention that almost everyone at the university was completely amazed at the freshman welcome party.

Recalling those days, Tsukishima couldn't help but laugh. The two of them continued their respective stories while enjoying the amazing view of fireworks in the night sky.

"You are truly amazing Leon. Unlike you, I have only been here without ever leaving my country to travel around and explore. Sometimes, I always think how my life would be different if I dared to decide to explore like you."

"No need to feel sad." Leon patted his friend's back as he continued his words. "Everyone has their own goals and has the opportunity to make a decision. Instead of thinking about things like that, it would be better if you appreciated what you have now."

"You know, everyone's life is different. I have traveled around and visited everything in this world and I have heard quite a bit of what you said."

Tsukishima smiled when he heard that. True, everyone's life is different. There was no point in comparing how Leon lived his life with how he lived his life because the two were completely different.

"Cheers"

"Cheers"

The two raised their beers to the top and enjoyed a night of festivals in this beautiful country. Tsukishima smiled broadly while telling the various things he had experienced so far, even though the experience was very different from what Leon had experienced, he still told it with great joy.

Leon listened attentively while trying to enjoy the atmosphere provided by the country he had explored. When it was getting late, Tsukishima started his motorbike and looked at Leon once again.

"Are you sure you don't want to stay at my place? It's late now, are you sure?"

Leon shook his head while looking up at the stars in the sky. "For now it seems like I have to reject it. Maybe sometime if you can."

"Then call me when you want to stay overnight. Don't hesitate, friend." Tsukishima patted Leon's shoulder. He left and disappeared behind the hill leaving Leon alone there.

"You are truly lucky to be able to live your life well. You know, I really envy you." Leon muttered while remembering how happy his friend's face was when he explained what life was like for him.

The happy face he showed earlier slowly disappeared, replaced by a flat, expressionless face looking towards the night sky.

Tsukishima probably didn't realize it, but during the two's conversation, Leon didn't show much expression when he told him about the experience he had. The happy expression he showed earlier was just something that came about because of the atmosphere brought by Tsukishima and the festival that was going on.

But all this couldn't even satisfy what he wanted anymore. All these festivals he saw, this atmosphere that this country brought, was something he had already experienced and felt so he was not at all impressed.

One word to describe how he feels right now.

Bored.

He had seen it many times and didn't feel anything special about it. Even though there were slight changes, they didn't make a deep impression on Leon.

Because of this, Leon envies Tsukishima who can still feel a sense of happiness and anticipation for something in his own country even though he has seen it many times.

"This is boring. Really boring. Maybe I won't visit this country for the next 10 years. If I remember again, China and Taiwan haven't changed much and don't give me the same deep impression as the first time I visited them."

"Is this a curse on me? Nah, I don't believe in something like curses." Leon chuckled as he thought to himself. He shook his head and leaned on the side while looking at the finished festival at the foot of the hill.

"Is there nothing more interesting in this world for me to see?" Leon looked at the stars in the sky that looked like they were sparkling in the night sky. It seems to give the impression of a black canvas sprinkled with endless white pearls.

Once again, his eyes lit up at the beauty of this night sky that he couldn't see in the city. His soul wants to explore further from this world and explore even further. Not only trapped on earth but also seeing the beauty of outer space.

"That might be interesting, but I can't let myself fall for such illusions. I've grown up, maybe it's time for me to face this cruel reality." Leon took out the cigarette Tsukishima gave him from his pocket. He is not a smoker and considers cigarettes to be useless.

But somehow, for now, he felt like smoking to relieve this boredom. The bitter taste of cigarettes filled his entire mouth and the smell of tobacco smoke could be smelled by his nose.

Leon sucked a few times before throwing it on the ground. "It tastes really bitter. Why do people like to use useless things like this?"

Leon looked back towards the night sky before lowering his head. Hope and excitement were suppressed deep in his heart. Because deep inside him, he knew that it was just a delusion.

But what if all of that wasn't just a fantasy? Are you ready to take the risks involved and step out of this world? Are you ready when your life will always be in danger to pursue what you have always dreamed of?

A strange, non-human voice sounded in Leon's head. The sound was more like a machine sound that had no expression and no feeling.

Right now he had no desire to think about why there was suddenly a voice in his head. But he couldn't help but think that it was a very interesting question.

'asking a question like that…' Leon smiled when he heard that. Leon answered immediately. "Of course, I will not hesitate to step forward. Even if my life will always be full of danger, I will never regret it."

Hearing Leon's answer, the voice fell silent for a moment. After a while, a unique blue screen appeared in front of Leon.
