Chapter 6: Probability
Somewhere in the vastness of the universe.
In the darkness of space.
There is a phenomenon that amazed everyone, no matter their origin once they heard of it.
It is known as a symbol of absolute fear, of power beyond that of their dreams.
A bane of everything.
I'm talking about a Black Hole.
Also known as one of the best cauldrons in the universe.
It's time to cook!
*****
I stand before a big ball of darkness surrounded by light
It's a black hole alright, whoever named this is a genius.
Anyway, I begin to survey my ingredients, making sure that they are in perfect condition.
1 Core of a primordial planet
1 Heart of a Dying Star
Fragment of Fate, Luck, and Destiny
"Decent"
I remarked as I proceeded to....yeet them at the Black Hole.
"That is Five-star cooking right there."
I say to myself as I throw the still-frozen Outer One into the Black Hole.
"$__@#_&:$$$____$@#!!!!"
The Outer One screams, its final defiance before it is crushed by intense gravity.
Following that, I dropped 20 Celestial eyes, which are literally just mini-stars, emitting golden brilliance.
I then begin to activate a magic circle I prepared a long time ago.
Glowing with emerald shine, calling the magic circle gigantic is a massive understatement given that it is enveloping the Black Hole (which mind you, is big, really big) like a blanket.
Aside from its size, the magic circle's complexity is something that even a "God of Magic" would have a headache understanding, which is not surprising, since I had made this during my prime.
Adding the final ingredient, my blood. I focused my concentration on the magic I was about to cast.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Suddenly, searing pain begins to crawl on my skin, it is as if I am being stabbed by a hundred chopsticks all over my body.
Ouch
Ow
Ouchies
...
...
Meh, it's not as bad as I thought.
Ignoring the ignorable pain, I spread my palm toward the Black Hole as if grabbing it.
The magic circle begins to glow brighter.
It's now time.
A time to activate a magic of the highest class, a magic I once wielded with ease.
My honor, joy, and pride.
My personal magic.
Fundamental-class!
Temporal Banishment!!
*****
What is magic?
A single question with a thousand answers, with the most popular one being:
The ability to bend the world to your will.
Now, how does one rank magic?
Depending on a world's limit, magic ranks could be bland, with the best of them being only able to destroy country, or be ridiculous enough to touch the surface of Heaven.
But how does Ones, belonging to no world and having no limits, rank them?
Well, simple.
The rankings begin at God-class, meaning that their magic has reached the surface of Heaven and is now qualified to join the cosmic stage.
Next would be Extinction-class, a level on which One could destroy a planet on a whim, making them capable of actually participating in the cosmic stage
Third would be the Celestial-class, magic so strong, that erasing a galaxy or two wouldn't be that hard, along with equally strange and ridiculous effects.
Finally, we have the Fundamental-class, a magic that only those who have reached the realm of Fundamental can use. While its destructive might does not grow too much, it becomes much more profound and unstoppable, using the essence of a Fundamental itself.
The magic I just used was of Fundamental-class, Temporal Banishment.
What does it do?
Well, it's simple really, it just removes the target from the River of Time.
And by extension, existence.
*****
The circle shined with green light, its form slowly revolving.
Then.
The Black Hole imploded.
Shrinking in an instant, the Black Hole is crushed by a force surpassing all limits and with a soft poof, the Black Hole vanishes as if it's never been there.
An anti-climactic end for sure, but that's not part of my worries.
With the Black Hole gone, calm was restored, leaving only space in...well space.
Shooom.
Suddenly, I heard a sound, like a whisper of the wind...in space.
Sound can't travel in space you say? Well, not anymore.
A smile appears on my face.
It is done. The last condition of creating great change was satisfied.
I activate [Travel], arriving at where the Black Hole's center should have been.
Then there I beheld. A twenty-sided die with a pitch-black body and golden numbers etched on each side, separated with thin golden lines.
The Die of Probability.
Seeing it, I can't help but speak of the old saying from my memories.
"Only with chance can there be change."
I reached for the Die, and while holding it, I noticed that I couldn't feel anything special from it. No divinity, no magic, and certainly no "I'm a super dangerous object" feeling. It's just a normal die.
I hold it tight, a chance would only show its true value once you don't have it, as they say.
Activating [Travel] once again, I traveled back to Earth. Well, what's left of it anyway.
Arriving at the atmosphere, I gaze down at the ruined world in front of me.
Calling it a broken world would be wrong given that it still very much looks like a globe from above.
Though, the first thing one would notice is that the planet is white.
From every nook and canny, all you can see is white. Nothing but whiteness.
Yes. Earth looks like a giant snowball right now.
There is white dust covering every inch of the planet, evoking a lot of questions for those who lived to ask.
What is this white thing?
Snow, most likely....probably. Alright, maybe not.
How on Earth did it turn out like this?
I have no idea, when I was freed, it already looked like this. Well, it would be more accurate to say that I was released because of this.
I shake my head. The questions of why's and how's does not matter, I will change this future.
Affirming my resolve, I begin my descent, going inside the planet and arriving at a complex building deep underground.
I fly towards it, my eyes momentarily falling to a broken sign.
