Chapter 10: Above the Heavens.

Chapter 10: Above the Heavens.

Chapter 10: Above the Heavens.

A second star appears before Earth.

Created from an amalgamation of colors, the star devoured the darkness.

Then the darkness devoured the star.

"Are you kidding me?"

Nyx appears from the darkness, looking as fine as ever.

Defeating Her is impossible, even in my prime. Expecting cannons to do anything worthwhile is wishful thinking.

I knew that.

But...

That ammo was expensive!

Can it at least do something?

Turning my head towards the Die, I found its movements faster, hell, its accelerating without any force pushing it!

There goes Newton's laws.

Looking at the seal [Travel] I found the wing at the center dim, its feathers falling from it.

Brute forcing it won't work again.

Shaking my head, I gazed at the ceiling, which beyond lies Nyx.

Looking at the future, I calculated all possible realities.

30 seconds.

The Die would keep rolling before stopping after 30 seconds.

It's not the best-case scenario but the most likely one.

The question is.

"Can I stall Her for half a minute?"

....maybe.

Just maybe.

"Good enough."

No holding back.

Heaven.

Providence.

Earth.

[Travel]!

*****

Nyx looked at Earth with annoyance as she met all the cannon fire head-on.

"Pathetic."

A chilling voice echoes throughout space.

She squints Her eyes as lights envelop her.

That's it.

An attack that can pulverize solar systems managed to flash Her a little.

Nyx extended Her domain, devouring the annoying light around Her.

The man flew beside Nyx as she began Her descent on Earth.

Tendrils of darkness lash around the barriers, cutting them like grass as they make way for their Mistress.

Nyx raised Her hand and let darkness conver-wait.

Nyx pauses, confusion visible on Her pale face as She turns Her head.

She saw a man who had followed Her before coming on this blasted planet.

What?

He was there...since when?..how?

Nyx gazed at the man intently, only to be greeted with a leg coming to her like a meteor.

Boooff!

A loud impact echoes through the dark.

*****

Heaven is ones wish.

Providence is time.

Earth is ones destination.

Combine all three and you will be the strongest assassin in the universe.

People often react to surprises but often ignore those that have always been there

So...

To be anywhere, anytime, as if you always did.

Boooff!

Nyx staggers, a complete look of shock on Her face.

Oh gosh, I just kicked the most mysterious One in existence.

Oh gosh, She's pissed.

This may be, in hindsight, not a very good idea.

Black tendrils surged, reflecting their mistress's emotions.

[Travel]!

I traveled a few meters away, only to ‘see’ myself turning into a doughnut.

[Halt]!

I activated the seal of [Pause], stopping time at my will.

Looking behind me, I saw a thick shadowy tendril aiming at my back.

But this is outside Her domain!

Time flowed again along with another activation of [Travel], this time to Saturn.

"Let's see if you can hit m-

Tendrils of darkness appear from all directions, planning to turn me into Swiss cheese.

[Travel]

Appearing away from the cage, a thought popped into my mind.

Ah, I finally remembered Her other title.

The Omnipresent Darkness.

Shoot.

"Offensive then."

Traveling back to Earth, I once again came face to face with Her.

Nyx looked at me with chilling hate, which can literally cause instant death to the weak of soul.

"No more Mr. Nice Guy."

Or I'd like to say if I just didn't see Her shrug off Extinction-class level attack

10 seconds left.

I only need to buy time.

The seal of [Armament] glowed in emerald light and green mist scattered as a myriad of cannons once again appeared behind me

"Ten Thousan'th B-"

I pause in shock at the sight before me.

Millions of black tendrils appear, everywhere.

As if darkness itself was given a sharp edge, everything around me transformed into deadly black thorns.

And all of them flew toward yours truly.

"[Ten Thousand Worlds]!"

Abandoning the idea of offensive, I quickly changed tactics as I made all the cannons fire the tendrils approaching me.

Light and darkness once again clash yet I couldn't help but be distracted away from it.

3...

Cannon fire met eldritch might, with no clear advantage between them.

2...

Some tendrils managed to pass through, only to be disintegrated by a volley of colorful beams.

Nothing. Ok, again.

Ah, shoot.

Click click.

Ahhh bigger shoot

"[Tra-ag.

Black thorns pierced me all over my body.

Perhaps She was actually an Iron Maiden after all.

[Halt]!

Stopping everything except my consciousness, I began to ponder my situation.

Is this the end?

Am I going to die in the hands of Nyx?

That....doesn't sound bad.

Hell, many would consider it an honor.

I could totally live–well die with that.

What? Oh, my quest?

Do you mean saving the Earth and all of life?

Pfft.

Who cares about the world and its residents?

I'm not paid enough to take on the Primordial Night Herself.

I am no god, I am not who I was.

I am but a hollow shell, a mere ant compared to nigh-omnipotent Ones.

I am no longer a One, no longer a Titan.

While God among men, I'm but an insect among Gods.

This has always been a fool's quest, it couldn't end with anything but a disaster.

Eons of searching, countless of failures.

"I'm tired."

I say to no one as the effects of [Halt] came to a close.

Or it should.

"Pathetic."

A deep yet tranquil voice spoke.

"Chronos, the old King of the Titans and the Personification of Time. The Unending One."

The voice came from behind, from above, below, and in front of me.

"Such grand titles for one so....pathetic."

I couldn't agree more, however.

"Who are you?"

I can't let a no-name insult me, though this guy's obviously no chump, I'd like to know who is dissing me.

Silence.

For long moments on frozen time, the voice paused, contemplating what to say.

Then He spoke in a majestic tone.

"Thou art I but I art not thou."

....what?

"I am you but you are not me?"

The longest moments of my life passed as I waited for His response.

Nothing.

Crack

The timeless void suddenly cracked, opening a fracture in reality itself.

Like glass, space trembled and shattered, revealing a pair of pale hands inside the spatial rift.

The hands grabbed the edges of the rift, pushing it open.

A head then pokes out from the rift.

I turn my focus tow-Aaaaaaaggghhhjj!!

The mere sight of the creature caused unimaginable pain, almost as much as the interfering with the Die of Probability.

My vision is blurred, unable to use [Providence Travel] while [Halt] is in effect.

But I saw.

Those green eyes were mine.

*****

The effects of [Halt] have expired, causing time to flow again.

Everything is the same before time was halted, with Chronos impaled in all directions, ending the pest once and for all.

However, for Nyx, things couldn't be more different.

For she felt something she never expected before, a feeling long buried under her absolute power.

The Omnipresent Nyx felt danger.

Where?

Everywhere.

Nyx looked at Chronos with confusion, even at his peak, the old Titan would be no match for her.

This was supposed to be an easy job with ample rewards, namely, peace and quiet.

Then why does she feel fear?!

"HA....HA....HA...HA...HAHAHA!!"

Laugher echoes from all directions, maniacal laugh of an army seemingly surrounds her.

Nyx extended her senses, finding nothing except the corpse of Chronos.

"HAHAHA...HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

The voices echoes again, stronger with each moment that it remains undiscovered.

The tendrils of darkness impaled π°¥#|π¶ as she surveys her surroundings.

Wait...

Nyx paused, turning her head only to see the body of Chronos gone.

Woosh

Cold winds blew on Nyx's ear.

Jumping in surprise, Nyx looked behind her and found a finger poking her cheek.

Along with a man with white hair and glowing green eyes.

..Chronos?...when?

Nyx froze at the man's touch, his finger radiating otherworldly power.

No....this is not him.

Before Nyx knew what hit her, a crushing force was released from the finger, annihilating her head from existence.

Nyx's body crumbled to darkness, vanishing without a trace.

The man smirked as he turned his head towards the east, a place where darkness began to converge.

From the darkness, Nyx once again came into being, along with a question.

"Who are you?"

She spoke, her voice lacking the usual disdain as she acknowledged the man as equal.

"My, my. As expected of a shut-in neet, you're not up with the times."

Nyx said nothing, the silver moon behind her, as she used her instant death glare against the man.

The man ignored her as he raised his hand, creating a blade of green energy with it.

"I am your father."

Said the man as he brought down his hand.

[Origin Blade Armament: #$'@∆¥ Rending Blade]

Space separated and reality teared.

Cleving the moon, and Nyx in half.

Cut vertically, the attack would erase anything on its path, leaving nothing left of Nyx.

The Primordial Night fell, or at least would if she were here.

"An avatar huh."

Said the man as the darkness around him retreated somewhere, perhaps where the real body was.

The man stretched his arms before mocking her.

"The Omnipresent Darkness? Pfft."

The man spits, knowing that she is listening.

"All shall fall before the Everpresent Light."
