"What's wrong Steve? Why do you want this to be a dream? What's happening?"
His reaction confused me quite a bit. He isn't someone who is afraid easily so it is strange for him to react like that.
"A-Ah well, a monster attack."
He seemed a bit overwhelmed as he leaned against the door and slid done until he was sitting. But still, a monster attack?
"Do you mean like what happened in Stuttgart?"
"No, no this is somewhat different. It was reported that the animals in Stuttgart still looked like normal ones. At least at the beginning. But what I saw was... Not really comparable to an animal. At least I know of none that' looks like a fricking hairless bipedal mole in XL size!"
He closed his Eyes and shuddered.
Did he just say hairless bipedal mole? Erm, what?
"Are you sure that-"
I had to stop speaking in order to keep myself from choking. I smelled so much blood! I wasn't able to smell anything else, the smell of blood was just too intense. The smell probably got into the room when Steve opened the door.
Some of my classmates used the silence to speak their own thoughts.
"What are you talking about? Hairless bipedal moles? If you're going to lie at least choose a reasonable one."
"Yeah, that's right. Giant moles, what a joke!"
"Come on Steve. What is really going on out there? Or should I go take a look myself?"
Only a few actually spoke up but one could see on their faces that most agreed on what has been said.
Steve jerked his head up and gave them a blank look, before getting agitated.
"I didn't lie! I have told you what's going on there and nothing else! Also, no one will open this door! If you want to go and encounter these monsters be my guest! But don't draw their attention to us!"
After Steves sudden outburst, silence prevailed for a short while. Well as silent as it could be when dozens of students were screaming in pain and panic throughout the whole building.
It didn't seem like anyone wanted to be the first one to speak up and possibly agitate Steve any further so I spoke up.
"Steve, it's okay. But screaming will draw their attention as well so it is better to speak normally at most. And I believe you. I can tell that the school is being attacked."
He visibly calmed down before sinking his head back into his hands. Meanwhile, the others looked at me in confusion.
"And how the hell can you tell that the school is being attacked?"
"I can smell all the blood that has been spilled. And it is not a small amount. Anyways, we have more important stuff to do at the moment. Matthias can you call the police and tell them the school is being attacked. Also, ask them if they can deploy a SEK-unit. Can a few of you please help me move some the tables to blockade the door. I think not is only a matter of time until they arrive here."

Matthias seemed a bit overwhelmed and didn't react right away but I trusted that he would make that call. Meanwhile, I walked over to one of the tables closest to the door. A few others also got up to help me. Among them were Steve, Tim, Ben, Maurice and one of the really quiet girls, Lilly.
The others just stood or sat by still unsure what to do but didn't say or do anything to stop us. We moved several tables over to the door and stacked them as well. During that, we were able to hear how the screams stopped altogether in some parts of the building while new ones broke out in others. And they got closer to us.
Matthias also caught himself while we were barricading the door and tried to explain the situation to the police over the phone. Some other classmates started writing on their phone or calling someone. Maybe they wanted to contact their parents, maybe some of their friends who also attend our school. Who knows.
Anyways, now we should be somewhat safe, at least I sure hope so. My body has been feeling strange ever since I smelled all the blood. It's like something is really exiting it. Hopefully, it'll stay at just that.
"Mark, the police said they'll be here in around 15 minutes. However, it will take longer than that for a SEK-unit to arrive. They said we should stay put, if possible."
I nodded. That much was to be expected. The unit would have to get here from Magdeburg after all. That leaves us with plenty of time to run into dangerous situations. After all, I don't think that the attackers would be so nice to let us be.
My thoughts were confirmed when not even a minute later the door shook once then twice.
"Do you think that the monsters already got here?"
"Maybe it's just our teacher trying to get in."
"If it was our teacher then he would call out to us. No this isn't someone who is here to talk or something."
The door stopped shaking for a moment. Maybe it went to get some of its comrades?
*boom
Suddenly, a loud boom echoed through the room. All the tables who blocked the door visibly shook and moved back by quite a few centimetres.
"Yep, that confirms it. Whoever or whatever is trying to get in isn't here for a pleasant talk."
I said, having confirmed my suspicions. Now, what do we do...
"T-Then what do we do?"
I don't know said it but it sounded feminine.
"Well, the simplest solution would be to stop the person from entering."
"But isn't door already-"
*boom
Before she could finish speaking, the assailant tried to ram the door open again. And again all the tables moved back slightly. This isn't good.
"The door is barricaded for the moment, but if we don't push the tables back it is only a matter of time before they no longer do. We have to stop the tables from moving."
I said and moved to move the back. Thanks to the situation even those who weren't really convinced before, now are plenty convinced. So almost everyone went to keep the tables in place.
The assailant tried to open the door again. And then once more, before it stopped. Whew, seems like it went away for now. Though I think it will come back but with reinforcements.
"Ah, that was scary. I really thought that it would break through."
"Don't relax too much Steve. I don't think it has given up just yet. Most likely, it will bring back more to help it."
"You think so? Don't most animals give up when they think it isn't worth the effort?"
Tim asked, sounding like he really hoped that it would stay away.
"Steve said that they don't really look like animals but more like monsters. So I am not sure if we can apply the standards of normal animals to them. But then again, these are just my assumptions and they also have no basis to them."
He nodded but didn't seem to take it too seriously. Or he just does his best to not take it seriously.
"We'll see if it comes back. If it does, we just have to keep the tables in place again."
"Yeah, at the moment that's all that we can do. By the way, Maurice, could you not look me in the eyes all the time? Or have you already forgotten about your skills?"
"Ah, my bad. I'm just not really used to it yet."
"You better get used to it quickly. Otherwise, you will accidentally charm a lot of women."
"Un"
Let's see how long it will take for them to get back here. Hopefully, we will be able to hold the door until the police arrives.
