As we moved along the empty hallways, with the only sound being the gunshots, I got a bit nervous. While the SEK is basically the equivalent of the SWAT in other countries, in the past few years there have been barely any situations that would require us to move out so many have only their experience as normal officers (training does make it better but doesn't substitute real combat). I am included in this group. Anyways, we must be quite close to them already as the gunshots no longer stop the shouts of the officers and the inhuman screams of the giant moles from reaching us. It was like a neverending cacophony of screams and gunshots.
We went around the last corner of the hallway, reaching its end and also the last door. The door has been shredded to little pieces that have been scattered all around. In front of the doorframe, we could see the officers of the other team, positioned around the door and constantly shooting or reloading. Through the gaps in their formation, I noticed that the floor was littered with dead bodies of these grotesque creatures and their blood.
From what I was able to see, it really appeared like we would have no problem fighting them as they were unable to get close. Our only real problem would be ammunition.
Our leader quickly notified the other team about our arrival, telling them that we would now provide assistance. Quickly some of them got out of their formation just to be replaced by us.
Our leader asked why they aren't using something like flashbangs. Apparently, when the team opened the door, the moles immediately surged towards them. At first, they decided to throw in a flashbang and the close the door so that they could easily pick them off once it went off. However, this strategy proved to be useless as the moles simply cut through the door. The flashbang also proved to be not as efficient as they thought. While the flashbang did its job with all the moles currently in the room, once they killed those, it was immediately filled again as more moles came from the hole in the wall on the back of the room. And they didn't carry all that many flashbangs so they decided to use them sparingly and save the rest for later.
"That's everything for now."
"Understood. Then what do you say, should we fall back and regroup with the remaining team or try to push them back for now and then establish a perimeter while they come to us?"
"With how easy it is I'd say we should establish a perimeter. To make sure that they don`t go anywhere."
"Then let's just do that. Ok boys, listen up, now that we've found the place from where these moles come from, our objective has changed to establishing a perimeter while the last team is headed our way. So make sure to push these things back into the hole where they came from! Don't be stingy with your bullets! Like they always say, SPRAY 'N PRAY!"
While it was somewhat difficult to understand him over all the gunshots, we all understood what he meant. Immediately the number of gunshots nearly tripled while the moles that came surging from the hole fell over thrice as fast. In order to not reduce our overall fire rate, we took turns shooting and reloading always switching with the one behind us. This insane slaughter continued for a whole 2 minutes where nothing but gunshots could be heard and the floor became a single big pool of blood.
Finally, the flood of moles from the hole lessened until no more moles exited it. It seemed like the moles decided that this wasn't working, at all.
"Good job boys. It seems like we will be able to rest for a moment. Just in time as well."
Yeah, if this would have continued it could have become quite a situation. After all, not only is our ammunition about to run out but also our guns are nearly glowing orange hot from all the firing. Quite a close one if I may say so myself. Also, some of us were unable to bear the sight of what we were causing or rather, had caused. They threw up and were genuinely terrified of what they just did. A slaughter like this doesn't usually happen after all and many of us have killed much more than maybe a few insects. Usually, it isn't necessary to use our guns, especially not with the intention kill so many living beings. Whether or not they will be able to continue with their job after this, we will have to see.
Anyways, it was good that this didn't last any longer as then it would have been possible that we would have had to retreat. Also that this turned out to be something this big was truly unexpected. Because of that, our leader decided to ask for more than just some officers and ammunition.

"Commander, we've accomplished our goal of locating the entry point that the moles use. We've also already killed a large number of them and have driven them back for now but we have no idea what to expect in the tunnel that they used to enter the building. I honestly doubt that we alone, even with the 3rd team backing us up, have enough firepower and manpower to deal with this on our own."
"Good work out there. I've received your report. I'll request for the army to send some soldiers along with extra ammunition. Also, how dangerous do you think these moles are?"
"To be honest, sir, from what I've seen, aside from their numbers and their ability to dig such large tunnels, even through concrete, their actual fighting power is low as they have as of yet not shown any kind of ranged attack and have only charged at us. And well, as they are moles this charge isn't exactly fast."
"Good, then we should be able to do this job with minimal causualties. I expect the army to arrive with their reinforcements in about 10 minutes. Don't do anything until then. If it's like in Stuttgart then they will still have cards up their sleeve that they haven't shown us."
"Yes, sir."

POV Commander of the moles
"Mhmm..."
What a tricky situation. At first, I thought that this mission was going to be easy as they had no immediate defences in place that would have held us up until their soldiers arrived and we would be able o quickly slaughter all the children here and kidnap the only one that's still alive of them. But to think that it would almost immediately go berserk... How troublesome.
Additionally, the way their soldiers fight is truly strange yet very effective. These strange ranged weapons that cause loud bangs whenever they are used are weapons that I haven't seen before. And they are so effective. Ah, what strange things have developed over the time.
Ahem, I should stop admiring their strange weaponry. I can do that later. Now then what to do about these soldiers... Someone who uses ranged weapons tends to be weak in close quarter combat. After all, it is much more effective to specialize on one thing. That means that forcing them into it would work best. Maybe... yes a pincer attack. With how few they are at the moment that would work really well.
"Kufufufufufu, hahahahahaha!"
Yes, that should work!

POV SEK Officer (same one as before)
Several minutes had passed since then. During which, we tried to rest the best we could. However, with the smell of faeces, barf and blood permeating the air so heavily, it was hard to relax or even just rest at all. We had retreated back to the last corner of the hallway in order to rest. The 3rd team had also arrived and stood guard at the door while we rested. However, we also had to guard the other side of the hallway. We still hadn't found even a trace of that creature.
We restocked some of our ammunition with the stuff that the 3rd team brought us but we were still far from fully armed.
Some quiet conversations could be heard between some of us but overall we were either too tired or too tense for a normal conversation. Besides we were still in the middle of a mission so we just kept quiet. Suddenly, the ground shook and a low rumbling could be heard.
"What was that?"
"I think it came from that wall."
It came from the wall I was currently leaning my back against. It vibrated for a moment, before cracks formed on it.
"Quick, get ready!"
"Everyone, gather!"
"Don't forget your weapons!"
Orders were wildly thrown around while everyone quickly assembled. However before we could even do anything else, the wall burst open, creating a cloud of dust through which it was hard to see and a lot of flying debris that injured and knocked over several officers. Right after that, something moved within the dust.
"Get back! Get back!"
However, it was too late. Moles burst forth from the new hole in the wall assaulting us. And at the same time, moles also came from the room where we previously fought. A pincer attack! With blazing guns, we retaliated, however, they were too close. By the time we had managed to aim properly, they were already in front of the officers at the very front (including me), using them as shields and attacked. Their sharp claws easily sliced through the fabric and kevlar of our uniforms. Kevlar was made to stop blunt impacts after all.
My thigh was deeply cut, I fell to the ground and hit my head hard on the ground. As a result, my sight was blurry and I had trouble getting up.
When I was back on my knees, the mole who attacked me previously attacked me again, this time aiming for my chest. I raised my guns, trying to block the claws with it. A terrible sound of groaning meta could be heard as its claws hit it. I was thrown onto my back yet again and could only watch as the other paw, equipped with claws neared my head.
I closed my eyes, already preparing to meet my maker. Then, a sound of tearing flesh could be heard. But it didn't come from me. Or from officers who were in similar circumstances. No, it the source was in front of me.
I opened my eyes and saw a long, bone-white tail penetrating deep into the throat of my attacker. It spat blood and then collapsed, only still held up by the tail.
Behind me, I could hear a thud as the owner of the tail fell from the ceiling. It got quiet for a moment. The sudden intrusion of a foreign element into the fight made everyone pause and take a look at it.
However, the creature didn't care. It only cared about one thing and everyone who looked into its eyes knew what that was.
Blood
It released a howl before leaping head first into the hole dragging the still impaled corpse behind it.
Its rampage had just started.
