Chapter 61 - A Prideful Sin

Chapter 61 - A Prideful Sin

Mammon casually sipped on some coffee as he sat down on his dope office chair. He took a glance at Winston’s new body and smiled lightly.

“So, what’s new?” Mammon asked casually as he stretched out his hand and exerted the power of Fortune Stealer.

Winston didn’t resist in the slightest and simply allowed Mammon to steal his memories. While Mammon did so, Winston opened and closed his slightly sticky palms, swung his arms and legs that vibrated with extreme power, and twiddled his fingers to feel the fabrics of space and time.

“Miracles… probability… Oho, he really does have the disposition of someone who can form their own truth,” mumbled Mammon. He rested his head on his hand while browsing through the stolen memories and remarked, “Albeit that unique perspective is too lacking. Only by being extreme can one attain the extraordinary.”

“Or be an insane kleptomaniac who had stolen his own history to assure his ascendance to supremacy,” retorted Winston.

“What can we say, our greatest enemy is ourselves,” Mammon said cryptically, but Winston understood what he meant and laughed along.

“Right, right,” sighed Winston. “Who knows, maybe one of us would betray ourselves and go rogue.”

“That won’t happen,” Mammon said softly. “I made sure that it won’t happen.”

“Oh right, I forgot we’re also control freaks who continuously steal the thoughts of others to basically mind-read them 24/7.” Winston walked towards Mammon with a smile. “But that’s what it takes to reach supremacy when you’re one of the most unfortunate beings in existence.”

Without waiting for Mammon to respond, Winston stretched out his hand at breakneck speeds that it seemed like his arm teleported, and the space in front of him fractured into a fragmented void.

Mammon reacted just as fast as Winston attacked and disappeared in a flash. In the next moment, he reappeared at the other end of the large laboratory with a mug of coffee in hand.

He took a sip of his coffee with a frown and then tossed the mug into the sky. The mug rapidly disintegrated into white dust and reformed into motes of bright white light.

Winston crouched down and pounced forward. The marks all over his body glowed with a bright purple glow as his dark purple eyes gleamed with bloodlust. With a sonic boom, he blitzed through hundreds of meters in the blink of an eye with a trail of a broken void behind him.

Mammon pushed his hand forward, and the white balls of light flew at supersonic speeds. They expanded and twisted, turning from white to blue, and from blue to orange. The temperature in the surrounding area increased to dangerously high levels as Winston’s skin started to burn and char.

He remained unfazed though and pushed forward. His ceramic white skin turned transparent and ghastly, and he punctured right through the expanse of flames and light to arrive right in front of Mammon’s figure.

The weird space monster hybrid thing met the shadow man’s eyes, and Winston grinned madly.

With a swing of his extended claws, space ruptured and cracked, and a burst of destructive energy exploded out in a large sphere of dark purple. His eyes gleamed with a menacing light as his claws collided with an invisible barrier, while his muscles bulged to reveal veins that squirmed like black worms.

Mammon stood still with crossed arms. His white lab coat fluttered with the wind as his endless vitality fueled his Alchemist’s Soul. Spiritual energy leaked out of his soul and out into the world, changing and twisting reality to his whim.

The ridiculously large white laboratory around the duo evaporated into vapor or disappeared into the void, but Mammon only felt a slight trace of anger over the loss and instead focused more on Winston with a smile.

“Supersonic speed… nice,” remarked Mammon.

Then, while remaining still like a statue, the laboratory fully broke to reveal an endless expanse of white with no land or sky. There was only a void of complete nothingness except for the strange three-dimensional rectangles in the distance occupied by various Mammons wearing white lab coats.

They took a casual glance at the two fleeting figures before resuming their work. Hundreds upon thousands of agonized screams rang through the strange place, but the dedicated researchers continued on without mercy, ignoring the cries of their fellow clones.

“Ha! It seems like Wrath’s body is a lot harder to make than mine, eh?” Winston asked as he landed on the ground, forming a large white crater.

Mammon, on the other hand, remained floating in the sky with his lab gown fluttering with the empty wind. Yes, there was no wind, so Winston immediately knew that Mammon was consciously making his clothes flutter to make himself look cooler.

“What more can you expect from the ruler of the sea and storm? Unlike your space, he has a lot more dominions to take control of.” Mammon uncrossed his arms and extended them out to the left and right.

A black substance poured out of his shadowy body, encasing him and enveloping him in a strange dark metal before it solidified into a large black armor. His eyes glowed with a dark red glow as the runic markings all over his armor hummed with power.

Winston grinned upon witnessing the transformation and did so as well. Jet black wings sprouted out of his bare back while the runic markings all over his ceramic white skin released a vibrant purple glow. His dark purple eyes turned a darker shade, while a dark purple orb formed in the middle of his chest.

Space around him visibly warped as his legs turned crooked and long, like a mix between a frog and a grasshopper. As he planted his leg down on the ground, cracks rapidly formed and space continued to twist and bend.

“LET’S GO!” Winston shouted with a crazed smile and the space around him fractured.

He appeared right in front of Mammon with his sharp claws ready to strike, but Mammon reacted just as fast and sent a left hook with his whole body glowing red.

The claw and fist collided with a deafening bang. A burst of sound exploded out as destructive wind pressure erupted with them as the epicenter.

With the two beastly entities glaring at each other with dreadful killing intent, Winston launched another attack with his leg. Due to his unique physiology, his legs were far stronger than his arms, and like a whip, space cracked and fissured as his kick connected with Mammon’s head, splattering it into vaporized goo.

His large two-meter-tall body crashed down to the ground, but strangely phased through it like gas and descended deeper into the white void. In the next moment, the ground trembled and broke, transforming into a strange dark goo that sunk deeper and deeper into the earth below.

Winston wasn’t going to wait for Mammon’s scheme to succeed though and hastily launched himself forward at hypersonic speeds, breaking past the speed of sound multiple times over as his figure transformed into a dark purple blur.

His wings flapped with devastating strength, with each flap releasing great wind pressure that could tear down heaps of buildings with ease. And with how space around him continued to crack and break with his unique physiology, just him moving around could easily destroy a kingdom!

This was the power on par with the terrifying dragons, a certified Arch-level entity! With an amazingly strong body and destructive magical abilities, Winston rose through the ranks and was well on his way to reaching the pinnacle of this world in terms of raw strength.

Mammon wasn’t going to be defeated though, not when he was the first clone to be born and the creator of all succeeding clones!

A large black hand stretched out covered in dark red markings as the air shook from the terrifyingly strong punch.

Winston gritted his teeth against the tantalizing wind pressure and his small figure pierced through the torrent of wind. Large purple claws formed in the air around him as the space left in his trail broke down into fragmented pieces.

With a ruthless glint in his eyes, he swung both of his claws forward and the illusory projections followed suit.

On the ground, the giant armored titan of ten meters roared and planted its feet firmly on the ground. Its eyes radiated with a glaring red glow, and it punched Winston ruthlessly.

The two attacks of gigantic proportions released equally strong energy, destroying the landscape for kilometers upon kilometers. More of Mammon’s laboratories and clones were killed in the process, but he remained stoic and apathetic.

While the titan stood its ground with the clash, Winston found himself higher up in the air but remained mostly unscathed by phasing through the destructive forces that burst out from the collision of their attacks.

With a glare, the two continued to fight each other with increasingly harsher attacks.

Two Arch-level entities released strength that could destroy entire kingdoms with each attack they dealt.

A sword made out of warped space. A cataclysmic beam of searing hot red light with over a thousand celsius in temperature. A vortex of a dark void ready to consume all matter that came near. A barrage of metallic cylinders that can move at hypersonic speeds.

If anyone in the world were to witness this scene right now, they’d be shocked at their peak Arch-level strength that would basically remain unhindered in the world of Tyr. Even Christopher Laum, a certified Archmage, paled in comparison to these two monsters.

Winston landed on the ground with a crooked smile. His left arm was missing and his body was bleeding with strange black blood. But even with his destroyed body, the crazed glint in his eyes remained.

Mammon, who was previously piloting his giant ten-meter-tall titan body, had returned to his shadowy form. His white lab coat fluttered with the wind while his glasses gleamed brightly with murderous intent.

“Let’s finish this, you bastard!” Winston roared as the runic markings all over his bruised skin released a bright purple glow. Mana and space around him fluctuated and warped, while the jet-black wings on his back stretched out.

He squatted down to the ground, with his crooked legs bent to an extreme degree. He could feel a searing pain from his legs and knees, his arms and chest, but his pride wouldn’t allow him to lose.

Mammon silently utilized his alchemy magic and controlled the matter around him. From the ground, a wall of white rocks formed, then another, then another, and another. Layer after layer, Mammon surrounded himself in an increasingly tight defense that many would consider impregnable.

Winston grimaced upon seeing this sight but kept his calm. “Tsk, so you noticed I can’t use phasing anymore.”

He sighed but didn’t stop. He gathered more and more of his energy as his legs expanded in size. His muscles roared and the marks on his body glowed brightly. The purple core on his chest released a dazzling purple light as he felt the fabrics of space around him warp and bend.

With a helpless laugh, he leaned forward and grinned.

“After eons of living, the man known as Rob Fortune has lost his pride. After eons of living, he had lost his humanity and became a god!” Winston laughed. “But for now, let me be a mortal once more! Let me experience the sin known as pride!”

“WINSTON SPECIAL!”

As his aura burst forth like a raging river, the area behind for kilometers cracked and fractured, with the ground caving to the opposite direction of his back.

“VOID!” he bellowed loudly and the dark purple core on his chest released a piercing purple light. “BREAKER!”

Winston opened his eyes in a daze as he found himself back in a strange white lab. He looked to the side and saw Mammon calmly sipping on coffee.

When he saw this, he broke into a loud laugh and sighed, “Oh, how big of a fool I was to indulge in pride.” He lied back on the ground and caressed his raven-black hair. “Well, at least we’ve matured enough to never fall to the foolishness of pride ever again.”

“After all…” Winston looked back to the ceiling, with his gaze piercing through the white paint and out into the vast sea of stars in the sky. He stretched out his ceramic white hand as if he was grabbing something in the air, and mumbled jokingly, “If we want to steal the throne of omnipotence, we’ve gotta steal the omniverse!”
