“Did you guys find anything- What happened to your face?” After a short pause, Melvin Dolton raised his torch to illuminate Rob’s dirtied clothes and Anna’s slightly charred robe.
“Yep, we found a tomb! A tomb, can you believe it?” Rob shook his head and whistled a playful tune. He looked at Anna at the corner of his eye, grinned, and continued, “But there wasn’t anything of value there. No records, no names, no clues, nothing.”
“A tomb inside a dungeon? How interesting. Did it belong to one of the school’s previous professor? Some of them did have strange rumors circulating around regarding their deaths,” Leo mused.
At the side, Anna subconsciously averted her gaze as she realized just how insane Van Hisprite, her ancestor, was. Why did you have to place your tomb inside a dungeon? You could have left it outside instead! Weren’t you a mighty mage with quasi-Archmage power?
Rob snapped his fingers amidst their discussion and forcefully moved the surrounding walls, opening up a small path that led to the surface, and said, “The slimes seemed to have calmed down already. Let’s not waste our time and continue to scavenge before we deal with the Boss Slime.”
…
“Earl!” Rob shouted from a distance as he skillfully swung his earthen staff in a wide arc, deflecting the burst of water that came his way.
Melvin Dolton grunted and slammed both of his arms to the ground, spreading his mana out and controlling the surrounding trees to form a series of snake-like protrusions. The wooden snakes erupted with intense speed, and they managed to surround the gargantuan water slime that finally got out of the lake.
Now trapped inside a wooden cage, Rob shouted while gathering his mana, “Duke! Viscountess!”
“On it!” Anna raised both of her arms and used her magic to shoot a ball of orange flames forward, setting the wood and the Water Slime ablaze.
Leo Regulus planted both of his legs to the ground as bright yellow electricity crackled from the edges of his skin. The visage of a divine lion formed above his back as his eyes glowed with bestial fury.
“HA!” Leo Regulus took a deep breath, and like lightning, blitzed through the ground and appeared right behind the Boss Slime in a matter of seconds, leaving behind a large, human-sized hole in the monster’s body, allowing its core to be exposed.
Rob slammed his earthen staff into the ground, and as he used most of his mana, two walls of dirt rose up from the ground, side by side with the giant water slime in the middle.
The two walls vibrated as if an intense force was colliding against them, and like the bread of a sandwich, the slime was squished by the two dirt walls. Water-blue slime splattered out as if a head was smashed by a sledgehammer, exploding in a cacophony of ooze and jelly.
Leo opened his eyes and looked down at his body. He was covered in slime from head to toe, dirtying his clothes and soaking his body in a weird mixture of water and goo.
Then, out of nowhere, a burst of purple and blue light appeared in the middle of the air, which quickly expanded into a giant rift of bent space.
“Whew, it’s finally over!” Anna slumped her shoulders and was relieved. She can finally go home, take a shower, eat some dinner, and deal with this Spirit Magic business that her ancestor left behind.
“You alright?” Melvin Dolton walked up to Leo and chuckled. He handed out a handkerchief from his pockets, but Leo shook his head and refused.
“You don’t have to worry. This is merely a small inconvenience.”
Without a care for the world, Leo started to untie his robe, unbutton his shirt, and slid down his pants, all while Anna stood there in shock. But, soon enough, the magical ring in his hand released an illusory gray light. The moment the light calmed down, Anna saw that Leo’s body was covered in a strange gray cloud, like those censorships in… adult anime.
After that, Leo activated another one of his magic rings, and magically, he pulled out a set of new clothes out of nowhere! Not only that, even his entire body was clean in the blink of an eye.
Damn rich kid! A storage ring, a cleaning ring, and even a body censorship ring! Wait… this is my chance! Instinct began to ring in Rob’s mind as a deep calling echoed from his soul.
While Leo Regulus put on his new clothes, and while Melvin Dolton and Annabeth Auburn were looking away, Rob’s eyes were tinged with a hint of gold as he slowly stretched out his hands and formed a claw motion.
He stared at the incredibly valuable storage ring in Leo’s hands and focused his mind. A thief was a thief, no matter how strong nor supreme. He was just like Robin Hood in this situation, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, but the poor one here is him and the rich guy is Leo.
As Leo was about to pull out another piece of clothing from his storage ring, Rob activated Fortune Stealer in a split-second, and a sudden thought appeared in his head.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Where are my pants?
Then, the thought expanded, forming a clear view of the entirety of Leo’s pocket space! It was large, incredibly large, with its radius being tens of meters long. There were tons of objects inside, ranging from extra sets of clothes to potions, and even precious magical equipment, trinkets, rings, and amulets.
Rob then soon found the item he was looking for. It was a pile of mana crystals, crystallized mana with various uses ranging from training, alchemy, and even the creation of magical equipment and accessories.
After confirming that there were indeed mana crystals inside, Rob observed his luck and smiled. 10-A. It’s more than enough.
Rob once again activated Fortune Stealer, and while nobody was looking, a huge chunk of colorful crystals appeared in Rob’s hands. He casually turned his body to the side, to an angle where nobody could see the front of his body, and placed it inside his pockets.
Whew! That saved me a gold coin! A kilogram of that stuff would have taken quite a while to buy, but now, I don’t have to worry about it.
Rob glanced around and saw that nobody else noticed what he had just done. He observed his luck, it was still 10-A just like before, but with his sharp senses and supreme cheat, he could tell it was reduced by an entire D Rank! That would have been a hundredth of his luck if he still had C Rank luck.
He sighed and shifted his pants to hide the bulge in his pocket. While doing so, he marveled at the fast pace Fortune Stealer was growing.
With a brand new set of clothes, Leo finally finished his business, and the group of four proceeded to walk out of the dungeon with a horde of loot, and with a high amount of points waiting for them outside.
…
Anna gripped her bag tightly as she looked at the orange sky with a smile. She took a deep breath, feeling refreshed and excited for the boundless future that awaited her.
Spirit Magic, according to my ancestor, is a magic that has great potential. With my talent, it wouldn’t be a surprise if I were to reach the level of a Royal Mage by the time I graduate from the royal academy.
But… before that, the Demon Lord would awaken. To participate in that fight, I’ll at least need Royal Mage fighting strength, but even that’s not enough. I need to be as strong as an Archmage… that’s the level I need to reach if I want to ensure my safety!
Archmage… in three years? Anna felt a chill crawl down her spine as she remembered the horrifying strength the Demon Lord held. Even she struggled for days to finally defeat that bastard with her party.
As she shook her head in dismay, she walked through the peaceful streets of the Royal Capital and was well on her way home. She contemplated buying some snacks, or even dessert to eat after dinner, she also wanted to visit Fortune Bakery since she hasn’t gone there in a while.
But, as she was deep in her thoughts, she stopped walking and stared at the distant street in confusion.
Rob? Why is he walking out of the Alchemist Guild?
…
It’s surprisingly easy to register for the Alchemist Guild if you’re only a newbie. There’s no need for a test or any of that kind since you have literally no alchemy experience. But with this, I have access to a majority of the Guild’s resources, and I can buy all kinds of plants and equipment from them.
But long term, I’ll need my own botanist for my herbs.
Rob rubbed his chin and made some plans, both long-term and short-term, while reviewing his knowledge of Alchemy from the precious notebook he has acquired. With this notebook, Rob had access to all of Oscar Vane’s knowledge, a nameless genius whose name was lost to the tides of time, a person who had reached the apex of alchemy.
He chuckled and caressed the red leather-bound notebook in his pockets as he found some similarities between him and Oscar Vane. There was a period in his numerous lives where he vied for immortality, which was the main reason he was hunted down in that damnable cultivation world in the first place, since immortality was kind of impossible to achieve in that universe.
But oh well, he did achieve it in the form of reincarnation. If he can’t survive physically, he’ll survive spiritually.
He must have been hellbent on achieving immortality, but it seems like he failed and had his notebook sealed away alongside the owner of that tomb. Oh well, I’m here for you, partner. I’ll continue on with your legacy and reach greater heights with Alchemy!
But, there’s still a big issue here if I want to acquire Alchemy Magic myself.
Rob swiftly walked through the streets and soon arrived at his home. He greeted his parents, and walked up the stairs and into his room.
He dropped the bag of goodies he recently bought, but weirdly enough, there wasn’t any common equipment needed for alchemy like a pot or even a magical stove. Instead, all he bought were herbs and plants, some of which were quite pricey and took a big toll on his savings.
Alchemy Magic is simply the peak of alchemy in this world, and even with my sealed memories, I can tell that this is a revolutionary idea for sure. With it, one can cut down the process of alchemy into a simple snap, process all materials with one’s own mind and craft potions, create golems, and alter the biology of organisms, all of that with the blink of an eye.
Alchemy Magic is the bridge between arcane study and science, a magic that can alter the physical structure of the world with one’s own will!
With it, my ability in alchemy would soar like a tiger with wings. I’ll be able to do things some alchemists could only dream of doing. But that cannot compare to molding matter as I see fit. This can easily give me strength that can stand at the top of this world. I can create nuclear bombs in a whim, form stars with a mere thought, disintegrate entire kingdoms by wagging my fingers!
This isn’t just a want anymore, this is a need! I can already feel my luck reacting to it vigorously. The moment I acquire this, my luck would surely soar above 50-A! It wouldn’t even be a pipe dream to reach S Rank without having to rely on others.
But… There’s one big problem I need to solve right now.
Rob pulled out a leather-bound notebook from his pocket, opened it, and flipped to the very first page about Alchemy Magic.
An Alchemist’s Heart, and an Alchemist’s Soul. The heart is easy since I’m almost done with creating my Mana Heart, but the soul part is the hard one.
I’ll need to use a human soul as an alchemical material to transform my soul into an Alchemist’s Soul!
Sigh… Rob looked out of the window and gave a dejected laugh. Let’s finish this tonight. I’ll temporarily boost my luck by strengthening my connection with Anna and raise it to S Rank, then deal with this soul problem as soon as possible.
