Chapter 232

Edited by Solyom

Kimi rushed into the training room to check on her friend. In the end, it was at least worrisome. As soon as she got inside her gaze fell upon her battled friend.

- “Gisele, sweetie! Are you alright?! Who did that to you!? I don’t believe that this skinny brat is responsible! You could just sit on him!”

- “You call me fat?” Gisele managed to smile through a grimace of pain.

- “Ah, so you are all right…” she sighed with relief. And then her gaze fell on a certain ITEM on the floor “.. HOLY SHIT! IS THAT AN…”

- “Arm. Yes.”

- “WHOSE?! OH MY GOD, IS IT YOURS?! No, you have both, thank goodness.”

- “I am afraid it belonged to Zari.” Dragoness said with grief.

- “… He passed me a second ago. He also had both…”

- “It’s long story, Kimi, ok?!”

- “Ok, ok. Take your time. Come, I will give you a hand. Let’s go to medic room, we will patch you up.”

- “Those are only little bruises…”

- “These are not only little bruises, Gisele! These are flaws on a woman’s body! We gotta hide them as fast as possible, if you want to find yourself a new mate soon…”

Gisele gave her half angry half surprised gaze.

“… because you two broke up, did you? Please, tell me you are no longer with this jerk!”

- “I don’t know… he said we need some time…”

- “.. HE?! HE SAID!? He cheated on you and then just like that he said he…”

- “Kimi, he didn’t. I yelled at him, I attacked him and even cut his arm off and I was the one mistaken.” Gisele was almost crying. The legendary Gisele! The best adventurer around! The one that Kimi was admiring for her strength and bravery that she was lacking! The one that killed thousands beasts in the darkest dungeons!

She was crying because of some second grade boy! The catgirl was almost insulted by that!

- “… But you were the one who said me that girl was a whore…” oh, she knew that long before, but still..

- “It’s far more complicated… Zari is working with the Syndicate.”

- “… You mean, for the Syndicate?” This is bad. She knew how this organization worked. Now, everything depends on how high the brat was in hierarchy.

- “No. He said that the Syndicate is a cluster of many organizations… He made a new one. He is not IN the Syndicate. He is the syndicate. 2nd after the main boss, or something…”

Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck FUCK!

A Shadow! She messed with a fucking Shadow! One of the Kings of the underground society!

- “..A..Anyway! What’s good about him! He is a douchebag! Why won’t you take his advice and… take a break?”

- “… He isn’t that bad. Actually, he doesn’t like only you and Loki…. And Ruby… And nobles… And mages from the Senate… and… Oh, there is quite few people he doesn’t get along with… But, he really is nice.”

- “Ok, how does he treat you!?” he was mocking her precious Gisele in front of everybody. As soon as she would say that herself, this silly relationship would be…

- “He shares his food with me…” Ok. Never mind. Now, this relationship would be never over “… he hugs me when I am sad and tells me how great I am…” she said all of it as she nervously hit her fingers together. Gisele never intended to share those memories with anyone else. Not even with Kimi.

- “H…He once told me I am his sun and moon… his everything… He double checks my equipment, if I would forget about a piece he would just put it in my bag without telling me, he trains with me and keeps me away from many dangers I would get myself into…”

- “But he makes fun of you! He openly mocks you among other adventurers!”

- “… He is calling it , later he would explain me what he meant… and since we are together I actually started controlling myself more…”

Yeah. The last thing was really true. Normally, Gisele wouldn’t let Kimi finish before grabbing the sword and running into the city, looking for her prey.

- “… he is also nice in bed.”

A-HA! Now we are talking! As much as the catgirl didn’t want to hear a thing about Zariel, she was more than just interested in the dragoness’ sexual life. Even more as their libido was supposed to be… ridiculously insane.

- “…. Go on!” Kimi’s eye sparkled. “… continue this subject!”

- “… Damn it, Kimi! I have serious problem now!!”

Tsh. She would make her talk about it later.

- “…Can I help you with this?” the beastkin asked. “… In the end it is partly my fault. I was the one telling you about this girl and suggesting you to follow them…”

Oh, it was COMPLETELY her fault, but there was no way Kimi would tell that. She treasured her friendship far too much to risk it, admitting that she did everything she could to break Gisele’s relationship.

Maybe she was a bit insecure too? Seeing Gisele having a good time with somebody else?... Nope. Zariel is an asshole. That was her main reason to influence few things to happen!

Still… if she is enjoying having a relationship with this bastard… she could allow him to eventually, by some occasion, from time to time, meet Gisele. Because she is a generous friend.

Entrance of the guild

----------------------------------------

Jericho walked in the guild in an extremely good mood. Literally nothing could destroy it. He was even whistling a very happy song under his nose as he walked across the halls.

- “You are far too cheerful. I don’t like it.” His old companion – Alesia said as she walked from one of the back rooms.

- “Oh, because we had quite a reason to celebrate! Guess whose debts are gone!”

The eyes of the elder woman widened in shock.

- “Don’t tell me you killed the banker?!”

- “Oh, come on! Of course I didn’t! But I met him few days ago. Imagine, that Zari bought all my debts. I have just returned from the bank facility. Every single copper coin!”

- “You sure that’s right formula? He BOUGHT your debt, not PAID them?”

- “Hm? Yes, why?”

- “… Oh, Jeremy… what you got yourself into…”

- “WHAT?!”

- “You should know best what those phrases mean. Your debt was not eradicated, it would be if he would PAY your debts, but BUYING it means… that now you owe that money to Zariel. He pretty much owns you know. And the guild.”

- “Ah, that’s what you mean! Fear not! You must have forgotten that I am pretty much his father-in-law! Ho-ho-ho! There is no way he would ask me to pay as long as he is with Gisele…”

In that moment, the mentioned dragoness stepped out from her room.

- “D…daddy. I fucked up.”

- “Language, young lady, language! Now, take a deep breath and tell me what happened! It surly can’t be that ba…” and then his gaze fell upon a long thing that Gisele was carrying with herself. “… sweetie, is that an arm?”

- “Y…yes. You see… I think I was mistaken about a thing or two… You see, Zari was meeting with one girl and I…”

- “Tell me you didn’t accuse him of cheating!”

- “I did… and then…”

- “He wanted to talk about it, and you surely did listen to him completely and thoroughly!”

- “…Yes to the first part… and about the other one…”

- “… No! NO! But… as both of you calmed down you had nice, calm discussion and everything is cool now, right? RIGHT?!”

- “… He said we need to think about… us, and we need time as both of us have trust issues…”

- “But you didn’t let him go?! No before repeating thousand times you are an idiot and you love him…”

- “… He went to drink with Daralon.”

- “DAMN IT, GIRL! YOU REALLY FUCKED UP!”

----------------------------------------

Daralon’s apartment.

----------------------------------------

Now as I recall, I have never been at Daralon house. Still, finding it wasn’t very difficult, all I needed to do was to ask about the house of a crazy dark mage. He was living on the verge of the University and the noble district. Once I located it, I started furiously knocking at the door.

- “I am coming! I am coming! Oh, come on! Stop it! My head is about to split!”

The door opened, yet what I saw wasn’t quite the image of Daralon I used to know. Yes, his “beauty” was completely in the middle of average, but he always dressed at least properly. Now, his eyes were reddened, hair completely in mess and I definitely smelled alcohol from him.

- “Zaaari! My favorite abomination! My beloved chaos caster! Things in city surely did change because of you, and damn, I love changes! Still, with what can the good, ol’ Dara help you with?”

- “I thought we could go for a drink, but looks like you already had one without me. Well, I will look for someone else who…”

- “What are you even talking?! Of course I will have another one! How my babushka used to tell to me before she died, drinking herself to death – hangover is not caused by drinking alcohol but by stopping drinking it! Come on, the day is still young…”

- “… It’s evening. Almost night.”

- “In that case the night is still young! Day, night, who cares?! Every moment is good to have a drink with friends… speaking about friends, you ever met by bestie – Morgan?”

The dark mage rushed inside and returned after a few moments, carrying a skull.

- “Morgan! That’s Zari, the crazy bastard I told you so much about! Zari, that’s Morgan! Good old friend of mine!... Well, I killed him and then trapped his soul in the remaining part of his body, but it was long time ago, the two of us eventually started getting along, right Morgan?”

The skull, much to my surprise, lowered it jaw and before hammering it back in its upper teeth, as if it wanted to talk or laugh. Of course this movement was followed by the sound of bone hitting bone.

- “Awww! He greeted you in such a sweet way! He told that if he could he would cut off your head and push it in your butt! He never greets anyone so passionately! I was right about you two from the start! Ok let go to… wait, what is this smell…”

He brought his face closer to me and started sniffing my robe.

- “Do I smell light magic?! Zari, I hope you don’t cheat on me with some priest?!”

- “Remember the angel we killed in the forest? I morphed into him recently. That’s probably what you sense. Also, I did meet one photomancer in the Holy Kingdom and brought him with myself. But fear not, he is cool. You two would get along.”

- “With a filthy photomancer?!”

- “He used his magic to burn an inquisition office and the people who burned his wife. He spent a few years in prison.”

- “… in that case I won’t kill him a second after meeting him…. But once again… why did you come h… OF COURSE!”

He grabbed my hand and started running in a direction unknown to me.

- “We are heading to the bar now! Once again, why are we drinking?”

- “Cuz I had an arguement with Gisele…”

Daralon stopped.

- “Damn… in that case mere bar is not enough… Let’s go to the striptease club!”

- “There is one in this city?”

- “No. It is in Gerwah tho!”

- “That’s almost a week of travel by carriage!”

- “Or five minutes with the teleport gates!”

- “… You are going to use the gates to bring us to a bar?”

- “Just watch and learn!”

We quickly moved past a few streets and got to the Senate’s building. Daralon quickly moved past the guards, heading to the little facility under the building. Once again I stopped in front of the room behind which the Gates were placed.

- “This place is off limits without the Senate’s permission…” a guard raised his staff.

- “Name is Daralon Harbinger. Senate’s Sentinel number 213, codename Dark Jester. I want to use my special permission to travel via the gates.”

- “State your business… and companion.”

- “This man here…” he pointed to me. “… reported suspicious activity of dark rogue mages in the capital of Gerwah. We need to investigate it as fast as possible. He is coming with me. Move, quickly, soldier. There is no time to waste.”

The guard moved into the room, leaving a few of his friends to look over us. He came back after five minutes.

- “Your identity has been checked, permission has been granted. The watchers on the other side of the gates has been warned about your arrival and are expecting you. Watch over yourself, sentinel, citizen…” he said, nodding at both me and Daralon.

We stepped into the room. A few mages around the altar were already warming up stones.

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

- “Seventh symbol locked! Gates is open, tunnel stable!” oh come on! Stargates reference?!

What’s next? Goa’uld invasion?!... how much exp would I got from such creatures?... On the other hand… what would I get after consuming parasite-type beasts?

Once again, the beam of light covered me. I was following the tunnel that looked as if it was made out of stars. I remembered the advice given to me by the archmage on my first journey – ignore the shapeless.

This time also – through the semi-transparent, blue and white tunnel, I could see the shapes and tried clinging to it. Dozens of tentacles, claws and teeth that were growing out of ridiculous bodies were being shoved into the stardust that surrounded us.

I saw all of this in the corner of my eyes.

After a few minutes, the gates spat us out on the other side. Daralon landed with grace, mostly because he was used to it. I landed on my face as I forced myself not to puke.

We quickly finished the formalities and walked outside. Here, the gates were built under a small magic school.

- “Surprised? Neira has the biggest magical facility in the world. Don’t expect other places to be on a similar level… maybe the obsidian tower.”

It was much warmer. The streets were lightened with many torches, making it almost as bright as in the middle of the day. Somewhere lively music was being played. The owners of the inns were yelling at everyone, encouraging them to get inside. People were wearing colorful, light robes and generally they were very happy.

At least a few of them.

Slaves. There were so many of them. They were hiding in the dark, as if they didn’t want to offend anyone with their existence. Another thing, almost every single one of them was a beastkin.

- “… offended?” Daralon asked. “… beastkins are very valuable. The stronger ones, like minotaurs are used for physical labor. Smaller ones, like rat kins are great I cleaning the severs. Pretty ones like the cat tribe… do I have to tell you?”

- “That’s how the world rolls, isn’t, it?” I asked.

- “You know… these people here believe that one day a god beast would come and free them…” his eyes were sparkling.

- “You didn’t bring me here so I would cause a riot, did you?!”

- “See-eecret!” he cheered. “I am just showing you a thing. Not telling you to do anything!”

- “Just like Kimi, huh?”

- “Who the fuck is… ah, that little kitty from the Guild?”

- “Yeah, you see…”

- “Not just yet! Wait till we get into the club!”

We were heading into richer districts. As we did, people became more and more cheerful, the music louder, and the smell of alcohol from local inns seemed to be stronger.

- “Soooo… no murdering intentions? Not even the smallest desire to cause a riot?” he asked innocently.

- “I don’t know these people. The life of strangers have no value to me.”

- “Ha! That was cold! Even for me! Now, push aside your worries, we are getting into one of the nicest places on the continent… as long as you don’t mind salves, that is.”

We got into a big building almost at the center of the district. Right away, we were greeted by a lad behind counter.

- “Ah, mister Daralon! We are happy to see you again. Mind giving us your preferences this time?”

- “Lodge for two. Quite one, we don’t want to be disturbed.”

- “Very well, special services or just dancing?”

He quickly looked at me. Oh, I knew perfectly what they meant by that.

- “Not for me, at least, I am not in the mood.”

- “Then we will roll just with a dancer. And alcohol, lots of it.”

- “Very well, any particular preferences regarding the dancer?”

He bowed to the woman and whispered something in her ear. Because of the music in the background, I couldn’t hear it.

- “It can be arranged. Please, follow Amgirio.” She pointed on the slave/worker that quickly showed us the direction to one of the smaller rooms in the facility.

Inside it, there was very large stone table, to which the workers already started bringing bottles and glasses.

- “We will have to wait for the girl a moment or two, so we could start… now, what happened?”

The dark mage asked, pouring whiskey to the glasses.

- “You know Diavora?”

- “Who doesn’t? At least from workers of the Syndicate.”

- “She was sent to me to deliver a message and…” in that moment, the door was opened once again and girl in exotic suit entered the room.

I looked at her, at Daralon, at her and once again at Daralon.

- “What? I thought you were into scales!”

It was a lizard girl. Unlike Gisele, her body was slim.

- “I don’t care. I am here to drink anyway.”

The girl got on the table and slowly started moving in the rhythm of the music in the background.

- “… Ok, continue. Tell everything good old Daralon, as I would be pretending to care, using this opportunity to drink to my heart’s content. Later on, I will have a few things to tell you. Your old friend stopped at my place, damn, what was her name again? Something with garbage in it… Trashy? Rubbish?”

- “… Ruby?”

- “… close enough! But that’s for later. First, your sorrows!”

So I drunk and talked. At first it was awkward, mostly because of the woman in the middle of the room. After a few glances at her and a few more drinks, I got into the conclusion that she was far too focused on her own movements to pay us any attention.

So I started talking. At first, about everything and nothing. Then, slowly, more and more.

- “She cut your arm off! Haha! That’s a girl! Damn, you surely fit each other well!... the problem is, that you get along too well, you know what I mean? What pulls you two together are your differences – she is a warrior, you are a mage, she is blunt and you are sneaky… you are simply covering each other’s backs perfectly… but then you are the same in a few things – you are both leaders, you are overly prideful and stubborn. And jealous.”

- “I am not jeal…”

- “I heard that as you were on quests, there was some knight boy hitting on Gisele. What did you do? Casted a diarrhea curse on him? Oh, if I recall you two weren’t even dating back then!”

- “…. How do you know about it?”

- “Oh, come on, Zari, you really were thinking that I wasn’t stalking you!? Also, you killed my dragon. Not nice, Zari, not nice.”

- “What are you talking about now?”

- “Nightmarewing, remember? The beast corrupted on the secret level of a dungeon…”

- “You were the one that corrupted it?”

- “I would love to. No, some other necromancer did that. Then he died, leaving an unbounded dragon. I merely… accelerated the process of the corruption. Then I could fuck a thing or two, that made beasts in that dungeon spawn faster…”

- “Couldn’t you take care of it yourself?”

- “I could, but I then I would have lost my cover. You know, I often work on the edge of… legality… I didn’t want to be associated with this little event. This is why I set the quest in the guild…”

- “… I thought we were hired by the villagers…”

- “And how could it be, that those dirty villagers had enough coins to pay for the dungeon purification?! I will tell you, a traveler warned them about the danger and gave them a few coins so they could pay for adventurers. Even suggested a specific guild... But it’s not like I was using you! You liked my gift? I thought that you could use some dragon meat..”

- “The flesh was already decayed and useless for me…”

- “Fuck. Didn’t think about it. Sorry…”

- “Don’t think about it. Nothing happened. In the end, it was a nice lesson, and gave me a higher rank in the guild right away.”

- “… ok, recalling the original subject… What are you going to do with Gisele?”

- “A break.” I sipped another glass.

- “Ho?! You sure about that? I get your intentions, but you can reach the opposite of the effect that you wanted to.”

- “Then it wouldn’t matter. You said something about Ruby visiting you…”

- “Yeah. She is working under the chairman. Ba! She was the one that warned us about the alchemista raiding your factory. This is why we were able to react. But also – the Council wants to recruit you. Now more than ever.”

- “Balls!” I cursed under my nose.

- “Indeed.”

- “On the other hand, the idea of infiltrating to the Senate is quite tempting…”

- “Hahaha! Scheming even now? Think carefully.”

- “Do they have something to force me with?”

- “Actually yes, according to them, a mage is a gifted individual that helps those in need. They want to question if you are fulfilling your role in society.”

- “I am an adventurer. I help people by burning beasts.”

- “There is one more. To help according to your possibilities. And you may not know, but they ranked you pretty high.”

- “And this way, they can make me their hunting dog?”

- “Oh, no! Not from the start! You will begin with small things. But in year, two or five, you will eventually be the same as me. Trust me. The fuckers are patient and persistent. This is why you have to act quickly. Do something nice for society, mostly so they would lose their point.”

- “… I am about to make it official, that I run factory. I have built a small hospital, back at the slums, and treat poor for free.”

- “That should be more than enough… of course only if they would give you permission to continue. But it will take time and you need to do at least one thing earlier. Or, they would send an official note. And then the events would roll by themselves.”

- “… any ideas?”

- “You have friends, Zari. Your old master, her crazy friends. Ask if you can help them.”

I took another glass.

- “Thanks, Daralon.”

- “The pleasure is mine!... and the bill is yours. You were aware we were drinking on your cost?”

I giggled. I did take it into consideration.

- “‘Till very last moment I hoped we would at least split the bill.”

- “Hey! You are the one earning a shitload of gold! Also, I showed you this place, you really could show some appreciation!”

- “Don’t sweat it. So, we will be going?”

- “Already? Meeh. Very well. Afterall, you do have some businesses to take care of! Ok. Take it easy, mate, I will go talk with the guards to open a portal for us. And you, take your time. Finish your drinks.”

And he left.

I was left alone with the dancer. She was flushed from the constant dancing. Now, as I focus my gaze on her, I have to admit – her dance is hypnotizing… I bit my tongue painfully, mostly to wake myself up. I said my thanks for her services, finished my drink and left. Oh, and of course paid. Quite a lot.

It was already the middle of the night and the air was much colder. Only the alcohol in my veins was giving me a fake impression of warmness. I waited in front of the facility, waiting for Daralon to return. And as I had nothing better to do, I started looking at the slaves.

A young girl of the cat tribe was struggling with putting some heavy bags at a carriage. After a few more minutes, a boy came from some corridor.

- “Atia! Leave it! It’s too heavy for you!” he quickly finished his job, and took the heavy packs from the girl’s hands.

- “Sorry, brother…”

- “Not your fault! You are still young, just wait, in no time you will be as strong as me!” he showed a big, bright smile to his sister.

That boy earned my respect. I noticed that when his sister wasn’t looking he was grimacing or holding his stomach, either because of hunger or pain. In hard times, in a difficult situation, he was able to show confidence and give hope to others.

Such people were making this shit hole at least less shitty.

But then his hand slipped, and a pack fell on the ground and broke. It was containing some seeds that right now was thrown in all directions. And right at the same time, their owner stepped out from the inn.

- “You shitty beast-spawn! Can’t you do anything properly!?” he had a stick and hit the boy in the back.

Poor kid collapsed. But if you think that this made man stop, you clearly don’t know human’s nature.

A seed of anger started blooming in me.

- “Are you an idiot?” I asked the slaveowner. “…You want them to be productive yet you don’t feed them well and hit them?”

- “Fuck off! They are my property…”

- “I am not talking about them, but you. Would you burn your own house? Or damage your own cargo?”

- “I am motivating those lazy bastards!”

The seed of anger started growing into a plant of wrath.

- “A-ha. And you think that he would work more effectively if you would break his hands? Then he won’t be able to work for weeks, or months.”

Speaking about good or bad deeds with this man was pointless. I was trying to touch his economic nature.

- “No working, no food. It’s as simple as that!”

The plant of wrath showed beautiful buds of madness.

- “They are not efficient because they are hungry, so you hurt them, so they can’t eat and will be not efficient in the future? Are you mentally retarded? It’s like killing cow for meat and being surprised it no longer gives milk!”

The problem was, that my words made him frustrated. And he released this frustration on the boy even more. I wanted to made his situation at least a bit better… looks like I failed.

- “Please! Stop it!” The girl grabbed the man’s leg, trying to pull him away.

- “You little bitch, don’t touch me!”

A smack that sent the girl on the ground.

I didn’t react because I wanted the boy to keep his dignity in front of his sister. But now…

The flower bloomed, showing petals of hatred. I looked around. How convenient. Because of the late hour we were alone on the street. I moved in his direction.

He raised his stick once again, yet it never fell. I grabbed it.

- “What are you doing, ha? Fucking outsiders, melding in not their businesses! Ha, you will be in trouble as I would report you to the guards…”

- “Then, there will be not trouble if you would be unable to report it, right?” The alcohol made picking radical decisions easier. Normally I would not react. Normally, I would just move along, for such actions could be dangerous for me in the future. I shouldn’t make myself a wanted criminal.

I mean, technically I already was a criminal, just not wanted!

I turned my grip twisting man’s arm back forcing him to kneel. He was about to scream from pain, but he never did. Not after my claws danced on his neck.

The realization of what I did came to me after a moment or two.

- “Balls.” I cursed again.

Now I am stucked with two slaves. If the guards would find out that their master is dead, they would either kill them, or these little ones would betray my identity. And no, I couldn’t take them with me. Simply not.

- “A human helping out beast-kin slaves? That’s rare.”

A hooded figure stepped out from the back street.

- “Yeah, it was an instinct. Now I have no idea what to do with those two.” I allowed myself to admit. The person either wanted to help me, or to blackmail me. If the first, I would gladly use a helping hand, if the second – well, there would be one more body on the street.

- “If only more people had such instincts… Fear not. We will take them. Oh, and you can blame this murder on us. We were about to kills this bastard anyway. He earned it, the only thing that irritates me is that you gave him to fast death.”

- “And by you mean…”

- “Oh, we are just group of slaves that no longer wish to remain slaves. We will remember your act, stranger… Now, come children..”

In a moment hooded man’s tone softened, showing concern. He helped the boy raise from the ground and took the girl in his arms, carrying her.

- “It’s good to see that just people are still walking this earth.” The man said before vanishing.

Daralon came soon after.

- “My, my! Guess who smells like blood?” he asked with a smile.

- “It was your doing, wasn’t it?” I wasn’t ever surprised.

- “Aw, man! How did you know?”

- “I noticed after I cooled down. But such a scene? Let me guess, this merchant got a fake delivery request?”

- “Amazing, wasn’t it?”

- “And then those rebels got an anonymous information about his location?”

- “Very convenient for them.” the dark mage nodded.

- “I hate you, Daralon.” I sighed with resignation, not anger.

- “Aw, that’s sweet of you! You can’t be mad at me for your actions! I told you! I just…”

- “… influence things to happen, not making them happen.”

- “Exactly. If you didn’t want to kill him, you wouldn’t… now, how do you feel?”

- “Actually…”

- “Yeeees?”

- “Liberated.”

- “Bingo! Nothing eases nerves after a quarrel with your lover like butchering bastards! This is why I picked this job! Come on, Zari, the Gates are almost ready. Damn, I will miss visiting this place.”

- “And why won’t you come here any longer?”

- “Zari, zari, zari… I know you are drunk, but answer this question by yourself.”

- “Ah, indeed, we just stepped out from a facility in front of which, someone got murdered.”

- “Exactly. Got to stay low for some time. Come on pal, let’s go.”

- “Very well, mate, thanks for today.”

- “Don’t even mention it, friend, the pleasure was mine.”

- “Bro…”

- “Dude…”

- “Guy…”

- “Buddy…”

You know, there is a saying from my previous world, that a real friend will help you hide the body, Daralon is even better, he will give you a target to kill, then someone to blame and then would help you hide the body. All of this after a drinking session.

- “Zari! Before returning, mind if we cast a few spells?”

- “We should not be casting magic as we are drunk…

- “… But you are drunk, so you shouldn’t listen to yourself!”

- “… true.”

Oh, it was such an enjoyable event!
