"What were you doing out this late?"

I came home to see my mom and dad on the couch looking very tired.

I would needlessly worry them if I told them I was hunting. They don't need to know that I was out there hunting.

"I was hanging out with friends."

*sigh*

"I know you don't have a whole lot of time to spend with your friends but please come home before dark, it worries us if you're not home on time."

"Sure"

I feel terrible lying to them but what can I do they would just make a big deal about how I could get hurt out there, I'm perfectly fine on my own, I don't need any help out there, I can hunt on my own and I know my limits it's not like I will go fight a monster that's stronger than me.

I really should calm down, maybe I'm tired and need some sleep. I will start cultivating my ice technique tomorrow.

"I don't think he visited his friends." Jason's dad said.

"I know honey, I've seen how he treats people, he acts like they are friends, but I've noticed that he keeps his distance trying not to get too close."

"I feel like he does it sometimes with us too just on instinct, treats us like a family he married into, and when that happens, I see so much guilt in his eyes."

"Four years ago, he changed like he became a different person. Jason used to hate school but now he goes without any problem, he used to be lazy but now he's so active going to the gym and library whenever he has the time."

"Most importantly he treats us better than he used to, he doesn't ignore us or act like we don't exist. This is still an improvement over how he used to be."

"I think we have delayed this long enough, how about we have a talk with him and sort this out."

"Yes, I think your right, staying quiet isn't going to fix anything."

"We will go and talk with him tomorrow."

I finally completed my Ice cultivation. Now all I need to do is learn some spells. Looks like a trip to the library is needed now but I will do that later.

Hmm, how strange I wonder what they wanted to talk about? Well, that sucks I was planning on going hunting today. Looks like hunting will be postponed.

I quickly get dressed and leave the house.

I look behind me and see my sister Brigit!

"What are you doing here?" I ask her.

"Nothing much, I was just going to the city to buy some supplies to prepare."

"What would you be preparing for?"

"Oh, you don't know, I forgot. Well, I am an adventurer, I go out in the forest and hunt monsters."

"I see, well good luck."

"What's with the total uninterest!? Most people would be surprised when I say that judging by how young I am!"

I'm younger than you and I have hunted before there's not much to be surprised about. But I can't tell her I have been hunting before would probably hurt her pride and I don't want her snitching on me.

"It's just hunting how hard could it be."

"Don't play dumb with me! I bet you already know how dangerous it is, and you're playing dumb to hide something."

She's spot on I underestimated her.

"You are overthinking things, you should just stick with what you do best and not."

"Are you trying to say I'm not fit for thinking!? Well, I suppose I will do what I do best and talk with my fists."

"Hey, slow down there, we can talk like civilized people and not with violence."

"But you said it yourself, I should stick with what I'm best with and that's getting answers with my fists!" She smiles evilly.

"That Not, ah whatever it's no use trying to talk things out with you."

I started running for my life leaving her stunned.

"Hey! Our parents didn't raise a coward, come back here now and face your punishment like a man!"

Hell no, only idiots would do that! Anyways I have the advantage in speed, my brute of a sister isn't very fast.

Hey, why do I feel like someone is trying to kill me now? I look behind me and see my worst nightmare. I see my sister running at me like a savage ready to kill anything that gets in its way.

"I am not a savage!"

"The hell, why can you read my mind? Get out this is private property!"

I run as fast as I could and see the train about to depart. Score I run and jump on before the door shut.

Haha, savage looks like I won this fight. I smile smugly at her through the other side of the train door.

Man, I'm beat from all that running, might as well take a little nape well I wait for my station.

"I'll get my revenge! Mark my words!" A very angry sister said as she watched the train leave.

A couple of hours later. Jason glances at the time in the library, 5:30 pm. I should leave now unless I want to be late. I already learned a couple of spells, and I got to say ice magic is pretty amazing just from the description of the spells they sounded very useful. Sadly, I can only use the first circle of ice magic.

The biggest drawback to mages is that every mage has to build up the mana of a specific element to use that element's magic, you can't use space mana for ice magic. This rule hurts mages with multiple affinities as it would take longer to absorb the mana of multiple elements.

Time is one of the most important parts of being a mage, a mage that only cultivates one element will most of the time be stronger than a mage that cultivates two elements, so mages came up with the practice of specializing in a specific element that they have an affinity for, most of the time being the one they have the highest compatibility with.

Now the question is why am I wasting my time cultivating two elements? It's simple I cultivate faster than most mages with my rank being legendary. Also, mages who cultivate two elements will be stronger than other mages at the same rank but still weaker than a mage that is one rank higher than them.
