Chapter 72: Dolly of the Thread(2)

Feng Zhiming was no fool, Dolly was going to the heart of the wildlands for an errand, it was obvious that they may be chasing the same thing.

Even if she wasn’t a participant there was no rule that one had to be a participant to hunt the creature, not to mention even her father could be a participant.

And if it came to a fight, he wanted to know all the tricks she had up her sleeve. This monster was a good way to gauge her capabilities.

The beast let out a screeching roar as it looked at the hooded woman floating before it, indifference evident on her face.

The beast attempted to swallow her once again, it knew the barrier had now been shattered.

As the teeth tried to close around her, invisible threads repelled its massive body once more, it violently crashed back into the ground.

To its surprise the recoil it had faced earlier was not due to Feng Zhiming, but an invisible thread from this woman.

However the creature wasn’t down for long as it rose back up quickly.

“Is it acceptable to just sit here?” Ellia spoke to Lyra, who had been entranced by the battle.

“Hush, does she look to you like someone who needs help?” Lyra waved her hand dismissively while responding.

Ellia had to agree with that, despite the beast's terrifying appearance Dolly appeared unmoved, this was a far cry from the cheery naive looking girl they met at the start of this journey.

Anissa had received a mental transmission from Feng Zhiming to analyze the battle closely, after all it was very possible she’d have to battle Dolly.

Her hand hovered over her sheathe as she mentally calculated how she would fight her.

Despite falling for the same trick twice the beast was not giving up.

Feng Zhiming looked closer at the beast as it prepared another attack.

There were strange markings on its side that started to glow green, unlike any he had seen before.

The more he looked at it the more it became clear it was not a native of this desert.

He began to tap his fingers on the chair’s armrest, trying to find the identity of a beast controller or tamer in his memories.

The beast was flinching, its body vibrating as if it was about to expel something from its mouth.

Just as quickly as the signs appeared a bright green fluid erupted from the beast and sprayed at Dolly.

Stolen novel; please report.

Luckily she was not on the ship otherwise it would have fallen on the spectators as well.

As the fluid continued to be expelled it blocked sight of Dolly who was caught in a torrent of the it.

Feng Zhiming scanned the ground that it fell upon with spiritual sense, sand, the likes of which could stand even the most corrosive of things, had begun to melt like butter.

He was surprised, even as his spiritual sense touched the fluid it slowly corroded at the point of interaction.

“It has merged its acidity with Qi, this acid is strong enough to melt Qi and its constructs, of course this depends on the strength of the Qi construct. But it is still highly impressive. It may even damage the soul of a Spiritual awakener.” Lyra spoke to herself out loud, not caring if anyone else heard her.

Dolly emerged untouched from the rain of fluid, it seemed as if the threads repelled even the acid, however they were no longer invisible, strings resembling a translucent window encompassed her in a cocoon, and it looked like they had been worn out.

“So enough damage makes the threads visible it seems.” Ellia spoke as he noticed.

The beast, despite its frenzied state looked surprised, clearly it hadn’t expected Dolly to survive the acid.

Dolly moved now, she rushed to the beast and brought her palms together before her, the beast tensed up as if it was constricted by something.

The invisible threads began to wrap it tightly, it was actively being squished together.

Feng Zhiming nodded slowly as he realized Dolly was attempting to squeeze it into a bloody pulp, up until the point where it would shatter its very soul.

Anissa swung her hands slowly in the patterns of her sword forms, seemingly trying to figure out how she would combat the threads, in her eyes only Dolly and her threads existed right now.

It was clear the beast was about to die.

“Let me see something more, beast.” Feng Zhiming thought to himself, it was clear that it had not pushed Dolly enough yet.

The beast coincidentally roared once more, its pupil dilated, the entirety of its eye was now pupil.

The struggling mass of flesh exploded outwardly, however from the explosion of blood a victor did not yet emerge.

A smirk appeared on Feng Zhiming’s face.

From the explosion the threads had shattered but the beast was still there, the outer body had been shed but the beast was still there.

“Impressive it used its own exoskeleton as a force to shatter the threads.” he stated as he waited for Dolly’s next move.

Dolly flew backwards creating distance, she was genuinely impressed by the creatures willingness to mutilate itself to survive.

The fangs that had protruded from its body fell from it, and began hanging from its sides by the support of a fleshy rope originating from its insides.

It began to spin, the hanging fangs quickly began to rotate at immense speeds.

*BANG!*

*BANG!*

The air surrounding the creature almost impossibly shattered multiple times in succession, its rotational force had begun to exceed even a natural disaster.

Using its momentum it rapidly approached Dolly, anything that came into contact with its fangs was ripped apart indiscriminately, it had incorporated some sort of technique within its attacks, As Feng Zhiming’s spiritual sense touched the beast to observe it, it was torn apart.

Of course that was spiritual sense and not Divine sense, he could not say if the beast could shred divine sense just as easily.

It was clear that the fangs both shattered Qi based defenses as well as physical.

“Enough…You’ve struggled enough.” Dolly took off her hood to reveal short black hair and a circular mark with a gear in the center of her forehead.

Her pupils turned from a bright brown to a lifeless gray.
