Tired

Emil failed to come up with a passive version of his cultivation technique even after many hours of thinking and trial and error.

He could only look for more information in the library tomorrow.

Time passed quickly when you were busy. before Emil knew it, it was already dark outside.

Since he couldn't sleep at night, he decided to hit the bed right there and then in an effort to get some sleep.

At exactly 12 in the morning, his condition flared up again, snapping him awake.

'what the hell, there's no difference!'

He was in just as much as pain as last night, it was as if all the cultivation didn't help at all.

Emil's thought process was nonsensical.

The nameless cultivation technique may or may not be a cure, but if it was, it definitely wasn't gonna do anything from just one day of cultivation.

But Emil, who was under pain right now, couldn't think of that.

What he could think of though, was opening his mouth and taking a deep breath.

He was gonna cultivate in that state!

By all means, it should've been impossible both mentally and physically.

Whatever energy was wrecking his body was gonna intercept the flow of mana in his mana pathways.

Not to mention the level of concentration cultivating required. There was no way he could refine mana under all that pain.

Emil was gonna give it a try nevertheless, because if his theory was correct, he was supposed to use the nameless cultivation method while his condition flared up for it to cure him.

It was just a conjecture but well worth trying, definitely better than being fried alive for six hours straight.

For the first two hours, Emil saw no progress with the technique.

Only at the third hour did he feel outside mana entering his mana pathways, giving him a glimpse of hope.

His body started cooling down as mana entered his body, allowing to concentrate better.

Emil's condition started weakening as he began to properly cultivate.

Not only did his pain stop, but his cultivation started soaring at a rapid pace too!

An unknown source of energy merged with his mana from within and flowed through his mana pathways into his heart.

A normal cycle of the nameless cultivation technique consisted of one breath and took about five minutes to complete.

However, under the influence of his condition, Emil could see at least five times the results.

Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.

He gained twenty five minutes worth of cultivation within a single five minute cycle!

Not to mention his boosted cultivation seemed to have regenerative abilities too.

Emil could feel his right arm slowly healing as he cultivated.

If he could cultivate like this every night, his arm would be fully healed in just a week!

This was when a problem appeared.

Active cultivation was already difficult enough for Emil, but cultivating in this state seemed even more stressful than that.

After just one cycle, Emil's body hit its limit and his condition flared up again, inflicting him with even more pain than before he started cultivating.

...

A few hours later, a limping Emil could be seen walking towards an icy cold bathtub.

He wasn't in the mood to talk or think.

He laid there soullessly staring at the water with an empty gaze.

He didn't know what to make of his situation.

What was supposed to be his cure was now the death of him.

He'd suffered at least twice the amount of pain he normally experienced after the five minute period ended.

The pain normally left his body once the six hours were over, but their aftereffects would forever scar his mentality.

Many times did Emil, a mere child, consider taking his own life. To end everything, to never have to fear the night again.

But he always seemed to find enough strength to keep pushing.

It was because he had hope.

He still had a future, he still had a chance to fulfill his dreams, his promise, and his desire for a peaceful night.

He was able to stop the pain for five minutes tonight. Maybe he could cure hismelf altogether if he got stronger?

How much longer was getting stronger gonna take?

How much more did he have to push through? How much more would it hurt?

How much longer did he have to live in fear? In fear of the darkening sky, the moon and the stars hanging above the clouds, The ticking of the clock and passage of seconds and hours?

Was it too much to ask for a peaceful night? Without him writhing in pain like a hell spawn punished for stepping foot on the land of man, for hours on ends?

He didn't know anymore. He didn't wanna think, anymore.

All he willed to do, right now, at this moment, was stare at the ring on his left hand and let his mind wander through fragmented memories of a time long gone, as the cold water encroaching him soothed his aching body.

...

Emil's bloody Tuesday started with Magical Beast Studies.

Just like yesterday, his classmates were giving him weird looks while whispering to each other, Arthur in particlaur was giving him a death glare.

"Oh look who's here. The Academy's number one trash in history."

With those words alone, Arthur had the entire classe's attention.

Arthur was stirring shit again. He vowed to make Emil's school life hell and he was planning to act on it.

"What's the matter, your arm hasn't healed yet?

Why don't you go running back to mommy and papa then?

Oh sorry, you got none. Just like your talent in magic."

*Silence*

Arthur was expecting everyone to clap and agree with him, but nobody said anything.

A few of his friends tried making some noise in his support, but they too went quiet immediately after seeing the silence.

Everyone more less agreed with Arthur, but they weren't gonna make fools of themselves like he did.

As children of noble families, and the brightest talents of their generation, they were a bit more mature than your average 12 year old. It was only Arthur who had a screwed personality.

Although the class was silent, Emil could tell what everyone was thinking based on the looks they gave him.

He'd be either provoked or intimidated normally but today he was too tired, so he just ignored Arthur and took a seat.

Not long passed before the teacher showed herself.

Emil and probably all the other guys were starstruck upon seeing her.

She looked to be in her late twenties, was tall with a an hourglass waist and a sensual figure. Her big purple eyes and long wavy velvet hair only helped to further accentuate her beautiful silhouette.

The smell of her perfume filed up the entire classroom the moment she stepped in, adding to her already barely resistible charm.

She was pretty, and it didn't take a trained eye to tell that.

Even Emil's mood was slightly lifted when he saw their new teacher walk in.

'damn she looking scrumptious.'

He was a man, and any man could appreciate a beauty of this type.

"Good morning to everyone, I'm your Magical Beasts Study Teacher and you'll be addressing me as Miss Olbrecht for the rest of the year."
