Clash

Dustin's eyes widened as he saw Emil rushing towards him.

"Can you walk?"

Dustin shook his head.

"I need some time to recover."

Without wasting a second, Emil lifted Dustin into a piggyback position and began running, all the while the boy in question was taking a Healing Tablet.

The Giant-Winged Butterfly was a slow Magical Beast in general, but it was fast enough to catch up to Emil considering its power level, specially since he was carrying extra luggage now.

Seeing the insect getting closer and closer, Emil put more strength into his legs and pushed his speed to the limit.

He dodged rocks, boulders, trees and branches as he ran, sometimes uphill and sometimes downhill.

Fast forward two minutes, the Beast was almost upon them when Emil felt his back lightening.

Dustin was on his feet again, his complexion slightly better.

"Run!"

He yelled as he gained a lead on Emil.

Emil who could run freely now put some distance between himself and the beast.

He looked back one more time to check where it was when the sound of wind assaulted his ears.

*Swoosh*

Before he knew it, a gale slammed against his body, sending him flying through the air like a ragdoll.

Briefly, he lost consciousness while still airborne, the power of the attack shocking his senses out of his body.

When he came to be, he was falling headfirst into the butterfly's lap.

Emil struggled to reach out for his dagger, but his body didn't listen to him. He'd taken too much damage.

He watched as the butterfly's maws got bigger and bigger in his vision, marking his impeding doom.

His eyes were closed, ready for the impact, when he hard a sound below him.

An Earth spike was jutting out of the ground, pointed at the Giant-Winged Butterfly's wing.

The butterfly which was originally waiting for its prey to deliver itself to its mouth was now looking at Dustin, the perpetrator of the attack.

Using every ounce of his strength, Emil hurled himself into a ball, with his arms wrapped around his head and face and his legs positioned in front of his ribcage.

*Crash*

His body crashed arm-first into the ground, numbing his nerves and leaving him discombobulated.

It took him a few tries to summon a Healing Potion, his body disoriented and his senses dizzy.

Holding the vial in his hand, he coughed up a generous mouthful of blood before downing the Potion.

Only a few seconds later, Emil's senses were coming back to him, his body regaining its normal functions.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

The effects of the Healing Potion were fabulous. He'd broken more than just a couple bones during the fall, not to mention the internal damage received.

But he felt fine after taking the Potion, good enough to run around again.

The first thing Emil did after recovering was drawing Emerald Reflection and chanting Fire Sword before running towards the butterfly.

Dustin watched as the giant insect's mandibles descended on him, unable to block it in time.

*Swoosh*

A long green sword came into his view and blocked the mandible, before a sizzling noise was heard.

*Screech*

The insect yelled in pain, its lower body burnt black by the Fire Sword still embedded into its lower section.

It created some distance between itself and its two preys before flapping its large wings, ready for another attack.

"There's no running from it, we gotta fight it!"

Dustin yelled as he embedded his shield into the ground, ready for the oncoming gale.

Emil too stabbed Emerald Reflection in the muddy floor beneath before leaning his leg on it, all the while grabbing the side of Dustin's shield and supporting him.

It was a fairly large shield, big enough to cover a person's entire body if you crouched, so there was just about enough space.

*Woooosh*

Dustin felt his shield rattling and almost lost his grip when the attack came, but Emil held him in place from the back, allowing them to hold on until the adversary passed.

Emil's mind spun in full gear as he tried to come up with a strategy to fight the opponent.

According to Miss Grimald, ranged attacks worked best against the Giant-Winged Butterfly, but both him and Dustin were Knights and didn't have any such techniques within their arsenal.

Right off the bat, both of them could tell defeating it wasn't an option.

Their best bet was to injure it and make it retreat, but doing so was easier said than done.

"I'll take the aggro, you sneak around it and attack it."

Dustin commanded before moving towards the foe.

Emil too, started running while taking out a pair of Pellets from his ring.

A Magic Amplification Pellet and a Reflex Pellet.

He needed stronger magic to seriously injure the beast, and better reflexes to react to its instant wind attacks.

He also needed to get the fight over with quickly.

The effects of the Body Strengthening Potion would run out if the battle dragged out too much.

*Whoosh*

The insect attacked again, with Dustin shielding against it and Emil going around it in an effort to land a sneak attack.

Once Emil was sure he was in the insect's blind spot, he summoned Fire Sword again and jumped towards the enemy.

*Flap*Flap*

To his dismay, the butterfly flapped its wings and rose to the air before his attack got to land.

Emil was sure, it'd reacted to the sound of his spell being cast.

He had to be more discreet next time.

That wasn't to worry about right now though.

Taking shelter behind a tree, Emil stabbed his sword into the ground and used it as a handhold while the butterfly's attack came.

*Whoosh*

Emil felt the grip on his sword's handle loosen as strong gusts of wind splashed against his back.

Just a few seconds before the attack ended, Emerald Reflection was jutted out of the ground and sent flying away along with him.

*Screech*

The insect yelled in glee as it moved to finish its prey off.

At that exact moment, a series of small rocks shot themselves at it from the back.

Hearing the sound of the attack, it looked behind before flapping its wings and dodging most of them, with a few of them ramming against its body.

The foe's attention was on Dustin again.

Looking at its exhausted opponent, the Giant-Winged Butterfly moved in closer to unleash yet another powerful gale, perhaps strong enough to send its opponent to the underworld this time around.

Dustin braced himself for the hit, unsure of whether if he could defend against it or not.

As the butterfly opened its wings, it heard a rustling sound from a tree behind.

Alerted, it turned its giant body around to trace the source of the sound.

However, the only thing its eyes met was a sharp, cold, black dagger.

*Screech*

The insect screeched in pain, this time louder than ever as one of its eyes was stabbed by the dagger.

It flapped its wings violently and rose to the sky in an effort to shake off the pest attaching itself to its body.

Emil wasn't done yet though.

He held on to the thing's legs and dangled off the air as he stabbed its body several times before his grip finally gave in, and he had to let go.

While falling, Emil could see the insect flying away, defeated, the danger finally having passed.

As for the fall, all he did was brace himself for the impact.

It was too late to prepare for a proper landing.

*Crash*

Emil's eyes slowly crepes open in confusion.

The ground was soft, and its texture was different, it didn't feel like earth, it felt more like... A person.

"Get up dude, I'm dying."

A pained groan escaped Dustin's mouth, the boy struggling for his life under Emil's dump-truck.
