Third Person's POV:
It was three days later, on a night with a clear sky and an almost full moon, when a shadow clone of Dexter popped silently and informed the original of the meeting between Kabuto and Baki. Spying on them from the shadows was Hayate, he was fairly good for a special Jonin. But Baki was an S-Rank Jonin and would have been a candidate for Kazekage if the current position wasn't already filled.
So it wasn't really a wonder that Hayate was found out, a wind screening Jutsu told Baki about everyone in a specific range. And Kabuto was no less of skill. He wasn't a master spy that managed to infiltrate each big village for nothing.
So no, Dexter wasn't surprised that Hayate got found out and killed in the original universe. Something that would have happened as well in this one, hadn't he seen a fond smile of Yuugao this evening when she looked at a picture of herself and Hayate.
The shadow clone was trailing him for a few days already, but he wasn't sure of what he would do then. Now he decided to help the boyfriend of his sister.
Even if it only was to evade future conversations about his ability to resurrect the dead.
So Dexter used a preset Hiraishin seal and 'jumped' towards the location of their fight. Hayate was good with a sword, some would say skilled, but nowhere on a level to beat A-Rank Ninja. Not even speaking about S-Rank ones.
He was loosing ground and it got increasingly stranger that not a single ANBU came to help him.
You would think that a fight on the roof of a military village would alert someone, but there wasn't a single ANBU in range.
This might have been a coincidence, but it wasn't. Danzo arranged the patrols in such a way that no one would listen in on Kabuto's and Baki's little conservation. Hayate was just unlucky to stumble about their meeting when he came back from his own training.
°You'll have to jump in now if you're going to save him°, reminded Kurama, so Dexter sprung into motion. He reached them in an instant and blocked a wind slice attack from Baki with two short swords.
Booth Baki and Hayate stopped moving, Baki because he had to reassess the situation and Hayate because he recognized the person in front of him.
“How could a Genin stop my Wind Slicer?”, Baki asked after analyzing his opponent. He has seen this Genin from the fights during the second test. He wasn't impressed with his fight, not because Dexter wasn't good, but this Yamanaka girl was just too weak.
It still was surprising to see a Genin blocking his B-Rank wind Jutsu. Sure, nothing truly deadly, but sure enough way stronger than what a Genin could stop.
“Dexter*cough*? What are you doing here?”, asked Hayate in shock and slight fear. He knew that this Suna Ninja was beyond him and that Dexter would stand no chance if he couldn't take a candle himself.
And he couldn't stop fearing of the things Yuugao would do to him if she learned that her little brother died because he couldn't protect him. Doesn't matter if he was dead as well, Yuugao would find a way.
“I decided that Nee-chan likes you enough to warrant a save. Wouldn't like it to see her crying”, answered Dexter in a calm and controlled voice. A voice that shouldn't have come from a Genin who faced an experienced Jonin. The air shifted and Hayate knew that he didn't know Dexter as good as he thought. This Genin suddenly put out an aura that put most Jonin to shame.
“The thing is, it comes with a price. A price that will turn your world upside down Hayate-san. A price that might force you to leave your home. Are you willing to pay this price?”, he then said in a deadly serious tone and looked back into Hayate's eyes.
A chill went down Hayate's spine, the eyes of Dexter weren't the lazy or carefree eyes he so often has seen on this Genin. These eyes were the same he saw when the Hokage gave orders.
Serious, strong and deadly for those who dare to disobey.
“W..will I still be able to be together with Yuugao-chan?”, asked Hayate after a long pause trying hard to not cough. He knew that someone with those eyes meant business and the words spoken by Dexter before didn't leave room for what he meant.
So Hayate chose to bite into the sour apple and asked the one question that mattered even more than Konoha, Yuugao Uzuki.
“That you will do”, assured Dexter and Hayate couldn't see any lie in his eyes, nor hear them from his words.
“Then I will pay”, he said with finality.

Suddenly the eyes of Dexter changed, gone were the purplish pupils and in place came eyes that were dark lilac with rings around a back pupil. Tomoes were lining the rings and the aura of strength increased even more.
Dexter turned back around to Baki, who surprisingly didn't move or say anything during the whole conservation.
“Are you finished?”, he asked and got into a more serious fighting position than before.
“I sure am, however, I can't fight you seriously in this location. So we have to go somewhere else”, answered Dexter and two chains came suddenly out of the roof. One of them wrapped around Hayate's foot, the other around Baki's.
A flash of light later and all three were in a large clearing in a forest. A clearing that Hayate knew, it was a few dozen kilometers away from Konoha and often used for spars that leave more collateral damage.
“How?”, he asked dumbly but no one answered him. He looked back at Dexter and noticed with some shock that he was gone. In his place stood a man with yellow hair that was tipped with red. He was tall and had a lean build. But the most noteworthy thing were the nine tails that swished leisurely behind him and fox ears on his head.
“Interesting, what kind of bloodline is this?”, asked Baki. He was now completely serious. The fact that someone could teleport three people without looking the least bit troubled was enough for him to be.
“Doesn't matter to you, what matters is that I need to kill you now”, answered the man. He then raised his arm towards Baki, hand outstretched.
Baki tensed and got ready to evade what ever attack this man would send at him. However, he wasn't prepared for what happened next.
“Almighty Pull!”, spoke the man silently and Baki was suddenly pulled forward, directly to the outstretched hand of the man.
It was sudden and would have stunned many into a stupor that wouldn't allow any actions, but Baki wasn't many. He was one of the best Suna Ninja, he was a possible Kage candidate.
So he quickly moved his body mid-air and sent blades of wind at his opponent.
These blades weren't the same that were blocked by Dexter from before. They were way stronger and showed it by leaving large marks on the ground while flying towards their target.
But Baki and Hayate were again surprised as suddenly a greed ribcage formed around the man and absorbed the wind blades as if they were only a slight breeze and not strong enough to cleave boulders in two.
Baki was shocked, he knew what this was. No high ranked Ninja wouldn't, it was a Susano'o, it's only seen by the strongest Uchihas. However, he had no time to ponder over this realization, as his flight came to an end and his throat was firmly grabbed by the man with the almost glowing lilac eyes.
The hand began to squeeze and Baki felt how breathing got increasingly harder, so he raised both his arms and enveloped them in wind Chakra. Moving the Chakra with such speed that they formed blades of wind that would cut almost anything in their way.
Yet, again, he wasn't able to give his opponent any wounds, as two green skeleton arms formed from the ribcage and grabbed his arms in a tight lock.
“Sorry Baki, but you underestimated me. You should have fled the moment you saw me blocking your wind blades”, the man said and put his free hand on Baki's head.
A large demonic head came out of the ground from behind the man and Baki knew that he would die the moment he saw the head opening his mouth.
A second later Dexter yanked his hand back and the soul of Baki left his body. Every memory and skill with it now rushed into Dexter and Dexter now know what he knew.
He let go of the now dead S-Rank Ninja and turned around to look at the pale, frightened and confused Hayate.
“Ask away, there are many things that will change in the near future. But I assure you, none of them will be good for Konoha”, Dexter then said and Hayate gulped once.
“Who are you really,*chough, cough* how are you so strong, what will you*cough* do to Konoha and above all, do you care about Yuugao-chan or is she just a plaything for you?”, asked Hayate.
“I'm Naruto, the one that died during the exams was only a clone. I trained hard after the things that happened in my early childhood and I won't to anything to Konoha, not yet at least. And I assure you that Yuugao-nee isn't a plaything. I love her as a sister and would protect her from any harm. The problem is that she still loves Konoha and the things I plan for it, as well as the fact that I kept my appearance and skills hidden from her force me to be a little sneaky about revealing myself to her”, he answered.
“What did Konoha to make*cough* you plot something that will force me into betraying it?”, Hayate then asked.
“I can show you, but it will show you how your home really is. The things hidden behind the colorful facade”. The deadly serious tone made Hayate only hesitant briefly. If he's going to defect, than he will damn well know why.
“Show me”, he said and Dexter stepped up to him. Hayate saw him concentrating for a moment, before a seal formed in Dexter's hand. Said seal jumped over to him and his world turned black before a white light blinded him.
He then saw a group of villagers and even some Ninja, they had cruel smiles on their faces and he saw all kinds of weapons in their hands.
He then felt his body, he felt that he was weaker than what he remembered to be. The ankle of his sight was not normal and he noticed that he was bound on his hands by ropes, as well as lifted off of the ground.
“Well Demon Brat, time for your yearly birthday present. It's Piñata time!”, said one of the men cheerfully and Hayate saw how the man raised a bat before he felt pain cursing through his legs. The man had shattered the bones in his knee.
What followed was a beating that hurt more than any wound he ever received. But it didn't stop with the beating he got from the villagers after that came the Ninja who gave him pain with skills no civilian would ever have.
It finally stopped after long hours and Hayate sighed in relive when they left, only to realize that they left him there, hanging from the sailing and more dead than alive.
He lived through this memory and many more that showed regular beatings. He learned of Rufus and of his death, he learned of how Naruto/Dexter came to life with Yuugao. How he met Kurama, how he traveled to Uzugakure and what he learned from the diary of the Hokage.
In short, he learned what Dexter lived through and what gave him reason to do what he has done. And Hayata felt sad about his home. Sad and disappointed about how deep they have fallen, but also angry for not noticing anything and angry at the many civilians and Ninja who had done what they had done.
The Ninja who were his friends only yesterday.
Then the memories ended and Hayate found himself back in the clearing, dully noting how he was crying silent tears.
“When will you tell Yuugao-chan”, he asked in a whisper.
“It's complicated, I keep pushing it back, in fear of being pushed away. At the latest before I will leave the village for good. Your task will be to stay quiet about what happened tonight. You will act as if nothing happened and will play the good Konoha Ninja for a few more month.
The invasion will take place without change and you will act as if you didn't know.
You, Yuugao-nee and I will leave around two months after the invasion. I hope it will help her to accept the changes when we both are with her, even if she doesn't want to stay with me”, Dexter said and Hayate noticed the anxious tone in Dexter's voice.
“I think you underestimate her love to you, but very well. *cough* I will stay quiet.*cough* Until you are ready to act”.
“Thanks, here is a seal for you, it's a marker that can inform me if you need help, channel Chakra into it and I will know that you are in trouble. I will then teleport to your position. Only activate it in dire situations”, Dexter said and a flash blinded Hayate.
They were back in Konoha. Dexter then formed an enforced shadow clone and let it Solid Henge into Baki.
“Act like Baki until the invasion starts”, ordered the original Dexter and the clone saluted before jumping off into the night.
“Well then Hayate, see you tomorrow when you come over for Yuugao-nee's date”, Dexter said with a grin that betrayed everything Hayate saw during the last half hour. The false Genin then reapplied his own Solid Henge and jumped into the darkness.
“What have I gotten into?... But you're worth it Yuugao-chan”, mumbled Hayate before jumping off as well.
