9 - Punch

Gray was surprised that his body had improved so massively compared to before, and he realized that it must be the base level of strength that a species or bloodline offered that was transferred onto the physique he already had.

In other words, the bunny’s base physique was far superior to his, and his base was raised to the same level, but the gains he had already made past his base were also stacked on top of the new base

He punched at the air, and he found that not only was his actual muscle strength twice as strong, but he was three times as fast, and his bones were one and a half times as strong.

On top of that, his eyes seemed to have gained a slightly wider field of vision.

His ears in particular gained the most out of his senses, and they had probably doubled in sensitivity, allowing him to hear pitches that he couldn’t before and also hear much clearer as well.

After washing himself off, he found that his physique hadn’t changed much in appearance, but he was definitely much stronger than before.

‘Now I guess it’s time to try my thoughts about my eyes.’

With this, he sat back down in the tub and picked up a bug from the plate that he hadn’t absorbed the blood from.

It was a dragonfly, known to have the best vision among all common bugs. He had specifically not absorbed this one yet since he knew that the change would certainly be dangerous. He wanted to absorb the bunny first so that he didn’t have to worry about stressing his body too much.

He had known that absorbing the traits of bugs would be a very good way to improve his eyes, but he had specifically held back on them so far so that he could improve the rest of his body first.

So far, his vision had already increased a lot via the bugs that he had already absorbed when combined with the bunny.

However, ‘No reward ever came without a risk.’

With this thought, he didn’t hesitate any more and directly absorbed the power from the dragonfly into his body, and the very next moment, he collapsed with cold sweat covering his entire body.

There was only a single location that was feeling pain at the moment, and it was his eyes. However, this pain was beyond what he had experienced so far.

It felt like his eyes were being gouged out, stabbed with millions of burning hot needles, and being smashed under the pressure of an entire ocean at every moment, and being so close to the brain, alarm bells of danger kept ringing off in his mind.

“Grahh!” He tried to keep his groans down, but he couldn’t completely suppress them as his eyes formed bloody tears that were streaking down his face. It looked like he was crying blood, and the blood got all over his eyes, even further causing pain and blinding him.

In this agonizing pain, he sat there for a total of two hours before the tears of blood finally stopped forming and his body stopped shivering in agony.

His entire face was covered in blood, and he had to splash it with water many times before it was clear. However, his eyes were still shut.

He was waiting for the blood to be cleared out of his eyes by tears before he would open them.

Finally, he no longer felt any stinging pain from his eyes and opened them. However, to say he was shocked by what he saw was an understatement.

The world around him seemed to have increased in quality, colors became more vibrant and visible, and his vision overall had increased by more than five times!

He felt as if his previous eyes were only seeing a part of the world despite seeing exactly the same thing.

He washed himself off and stood up to look in the mirror, but the moment he did so, he also realized that there was another change he hadn’t noticed.

His sense of balance had increased by more than ten times, and he felt like he wouldn’t fall over unless he intended to.

It was a weird sensation to describe, but that was the only way it could be described.

Looking into the mirror, he was extremely happy to see that his eyes looked exactly the same as before, with the exception of his pupils being ten times darker. However, that didn’t matter and it wasn’t likely to be noticed at all.

He knew that dragonflies had good vision, but he didn’t expect it to be to such an insane level. No wonder that evolution was the most painful and the longest one he had gone through so far.

By now, it was already night, so he got some food and then went to bed.

The next morning, he got up and cultivated, the tide of Qi entering his body being no smaller than before.

After he finished his cultivation for the day and decided to start working out, he couldn’t help but think.

‘I’ve been training like this for over two weeks with the Heavenly Weight Sand, and the evolution ability also helped. It should be enough to start, right?’

After thinking this, he headed outside and into the middle of a nearby plain.

Then, he waved his hand, and a massive steel block appeared in front of him, having come from his spatial ring.

‘I guess the only way to find out is to test it.’

As he stood in front of the steel block that was as wide as he was tall, an absolutely insane but also incomparably cold expression appearing on his face.

He shifted his body, widening his stance and lowering his center of gravity.

He pulled back his arm, steadying himself as he did so.

And with this, he took in a deep breath, steadying his mind, breath, heart, and power all at once.

And as he was all wound up, he let go of all that built up power and strength in an instant.

Whoosh!

You could hear the wind flowing around his fist as he put all the strength of his entire body into his fist, his feet pushing a centimeter into the ground and transferring all his energy forward.

Clang!

Instead of a thud like one would expect from a punch, the sound was like that of metal clashing against metal.

Crack!

And just after, Gray felt the bones in his hand break as his entire body was pushed backward, digging two grooves on the ground several centimeters deep.

“Huuu…” He let out a deep breath as the pain didn’t even seem to bother him. His entire body was still steady.

He had been pushed back by his own punching force, breaking the bones in his hand and arm as he did so. However, as his power retracted back into his body and he came out of his stance, a smile was over his face.

‘I can do it.’
