Gray had decided that his new life would first be spent being as low-key as possible, and afterwards as high-key as possible.
In other words, he needed time to gather his strength, and after it was gathered, he would use it to literally topple a whole kingdom from the very foundations and up.
And the most foundational part of a kingdom was the people of that kingdom. Otherwise, how would those in power stay in power?
The will of the people was a lot more powerful than people gave it credit for, and if the people decided to, they could topple the kingdom alone, reversing the rule of the current monarch and setting them back a thousand years in progress merely because they wanted to. Strength alone wasn’t enough to dictate the will of the world.
In the end, there were simply far too many people for their will to be ignored, even if they were much weaker than those in power. After all, in the end a kingdom depended on the common people to keep it running and provide at least some form of income.
Otherwise, the power of those at the very top would slowly wane away until they no longer held power over anything at all.
On top of the matter of keeping the kingdom running and income, there was also the matter of the fact that aside from the royal family, all those in the kingdom either came from common or noble families, and if they stopped supporting the royal family, they would lose the power they had all over the kingdom and would also lose the support of the army they built.
After all, there couldn’t be an army if there were no soldiers in it.
He planned to bring this kingdom down to its knees, and he planned to do it in the most effective way possible without having to murder millions.
But all of that was for the future. For now, he could only continue to get stronger and stronger until he was finally able to do all this.
But his plans were a bit interrupted when he heard a piece of news at the restaurant he always went to eat at.
“Did you hear? Apparently, there is going to be some massive celebration for the princess’ engagement. The whole kingdom is invited!”
Gray didn’t bother to listen to any more of the conversation aside from where it was, and the moment he heard about the location, he finished up his food and left the small village, never to appear there again.
It was an incredibly sudden departure, and nobody could’ve even predicted it.
‘I guess that bastard had a daughter? If they’re making it this big of a deal about her getting married, that means that she’s the crown princess and that the one she’s marrying will become king.
This is one of the best opportunities that I will get to see the situation of the royal family before I start the process of toppling it, so I must not waste it.’
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
WIth this in mind, he headed towards the center of the kingdom to the place where the celebration would be held a month later.
He didn’t bother to take off the Heavenly Weight Sand bands since he didn’t need to get there quickly. His speed even with them was more than enough to get there in less than a month, and he could just cultivate while running.
With his newly superior physique, he didn’t need to sleep at all if he chose not to, therefore he could spend all his time moving and training.
He couldn’t keep it up forever, but it wasn’t impossible for him to do so for less than a month.
However, shortly after leaving the village, he suddenly went on guard as he sensed danger, and he instantly dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding an arrow, which managed to slice his cheek open.
After dodging, all the Heavenly Weight Sand bands vanished from across his body, and he moved at a seemingly impossible speed while heading towards where the arrow had come from.
Before he could even see anything, he once again moved to the side, dodging another arrow headed his way, but without the interference of the extra weight on his body, he was able to completely dodge it without it even getting close to him.
But he could still tell. His face felt a bit numb, and he could also feel pain elsewhere. He had been poisoned by the first arrow.
Of course, with his insane healing ability, he wasn’t worried about the poison killing or crippling him, but it could temporarily lower his combat power, which wasn’t good.
Being only at the fifth stage of the Martial Realm and poisoned, it was needless to say that he was pretty weak right now, and from the looks of it, the assailant seemed to be at least a peak Martial expert.
As the poison traveled through his body, he very clearly felt the effects, and his speed and strength decreased by more than half, while his inner energy wasn’t even able to circulate.
Just as he was getting closer to the source of the arrows, he found another one headed towards him, and with his speed so drastically reduced, he couldn’t properly dodge it, leading to him almost being cut again.
However, instead of letting the arrow hit him, he used his immense physical strength to simply snatch it out of the air, using its momentum and his own to completely spin his body around, the arrow curving around his back and eventually coming back the way it came, at which point he released it, sending it flying towards the one who had shot it at a speed far too fast to react to.
And Gray knew that the arrow had struck true when he heard the grunt of pain come from in front of him, and he rushed up towards where it came from.
Another arrow shot out, but its aim was bad and its power wasn’t even a quarter of the previous arrows both in speed and the amount of power contained within it, be it inner energy or inner breath, the power of those at the Spirit Realm.
The moment he came upon the archer, draped in a green and brown mottled cloak, he snapped his neck and moved on, quickly starting to recover from the effects of the poison while also taking the bow and arrows.
‘I guess all the bandits in the kingdom will be waiting on traveled routes since more people will be moving at this time. I’ll just have to temporarily stop my physical training so that I’m always ready for a fight.’
Previously, there weren’t many bandits along the common roads of the kingdom, but it seemed that this had changed under the terrible leadership of his brother, so he made preparations accordingly.
For a few hours, his body was weak from the poison, but he managed to completely recover, at which point he continued on his journey once more.
And three weeks later, he finally reached his destination.
