6 - Cultivating

Gray had fallen to the ground, his entire body covered in cold sweat and trembling fiercely as his heart pumped so strongly that it felt like it was going to explode.

His stomach hurled until he literally couldn’t puke up anything more, and he nearly passed out from the pain.

This process continued for a total of five minutes before the pain finally subsided, and he fell to the side, exhausted.

He didn’t even get the chance to do anything before he fell asleep from pure exhaustion.

*The next morning*

Gray woke up groggily, finding himself on the ground leaning against the wall with a putrid smell entering his nostrils.

In front of him, there was a puddle of vomit on the ground, and all over his body was a sticky black goo that looked like tar.

Just as he was wondering what had happened, memories of last night rushed into his head, and he instantly came upon the realization that this was because of the evolutionary ability of his bloodline.

Instead of trying to figure out what changes had happened to his body, he decided to clean up first, getting rid of the vomit on the ground before taking a bath and cleaning that sticky tar-like substance off the surface of his body.

Merely doing this, he could already sense some changes, but he would leave the grand reveal until after he had cleaned up completely.

He also got a new pair of clothes, but he didn’t put them on quite yet since he was planning to do a few more tests and would likely bleed over them.

Finally, he looked in the mirror and specifically looked for the changes in his body.

At first, there didn’t seem to be much of a change, but he could tell. His muscles were a slight bit bigger, and his skin had hardened massively, similar to an exoskeleton of a bug.

As he tried to slice open his palm, he found that it was much tougher to cut his skin than before and he had to put in an effort to do so. On top of that, when it did slice, more blood came out than before, meaning that he had a higher blood pressure, possibly the result of the pneumatic system that bugs used.

Overall, his body also felt slightly stronger and all his aspects had increased.

Because he hadn’t caught a bug with compound vision yet, his vision hadn’t improved much, but he was well aware that there would be benefits he had yet to see.

The pain that happened when he activated the evolving ability was merely a result of his body being reconstructed, whereas the sticky black tar-like substance on the surface of his body was impurities mixed with dead cells that had coagulated together with the mud and dirt already covering him.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Merely in terms of physical appearance, compared to yesterday, nobody would be able to recognize him as the same person as before.

His previously matted and dirtied hair was now silky smooth, and his haggard appearance had changed into one that was completely different from before, looking like a thin but otherwise healthy young noble.

On top of that, the change of clothes also contributed to his change in appearance. He had put on some black clothes, and paired with his black hair and violet eyes, he seemed to be mysterious and a bit demonic.

He was currently wearing a calm expression, but nobody knew what kind of chaos was happening inside his mind at the moment.

All his chaotic emotions that were raging like the sea within his mind all summed up into a single change in his expression, which was a small smirk.

‘I’m currently at the first stage of the Martial Realm. My goal is to reach the Spirit Realm by the time I turn eleven or even long before then.’

Normally, a goal like this would be completely impossible even for the greatest geniuses on the continent. He was well aware of this, because he was the previous greatest genius on the continent, and it had still taken him four years to do this.

However, he now not only had the experience of his previous life, but also the insane abilities of his new bloodline and the off the charts talent that came with it.

With this in mind, he sat down on the bed and sat with his legs crossed and his hands resting on his legs.

Slowly, his eyes closed and he sunk himself into the sensations all around him and the Qi in the air around him.

As he did this, pulses spread from the surroundings towards him as the Qi around him responded to his call.

As if he was a drain at the bottom of the ocean, the Qi around him flowed into his body endlessly through every pore in his skin; every breath he took and every beat of his heart distributed it around his body.

He was doing this based entirely off of instinct, yet he was surprised to find that this base cultivation method was more effective than anything he had ever used!

The effect was so incredible that not only was his inner energy in his dantian strengthened at an incredible pace, but even his physical body was rapidly improving and strengthening.

He was actually planning to train his body with some Heavenly Weight Sand, which was specifically designed to weigh an absolutely massive amount despite its small volume.

However, it now seemed like he wouldn’t even need to train his body that way! Of course, he still would, but it seemed a little redundant.

Rapidly, his body actually broke through to the second stage of the Martial Realm before he even realized it!

However, though his cultivation had reached this level, his body was now too weak to continue supporting his cultivation.

He could continue to refine his body through Qi, but he hadn’t expected that he would break through so quickly and that his dantian would outpace his body by so much.

His body hadn’t even had the chance to improve almost at all before he had broken through!

And as such, he swiped his hand, taking a small pouch out of his spatial ring (I will explain these later) and putting it on the bed.

He then put together a bunch of pouches of fabric and tied them around all his limbs before pouring a bit of the sand into each of them.

The moment he did so, his limbs felt like they were lifting an entire extra him, and he nearly lost balance.

However, he continued and poured the black sand into all the pouches on his limbs before starting to work out.
