Chapter 46. Doll.

Chapter 46. Doll.

“What… what the hell does that mean.” Xania asks, still staring at Anise as the unknown man doesn't respond.“

If I understood Anise correctly. Divinity is related to life span, and… if I interpreted this correctly, I have a seemingly never ending lifespan, and my divinity should in turn…” Xania starts converting all her lifespan to divinity but not aging due to having an endless or near endless lifespan, a massive beam of dark divinity being sent into the air above due to her not properly merging the dark mana and divinity into the cyan colour.

“My work here is done.” The unknown man tries to flee as Xania creates a massive dome around the area with her dark divinity.

“Where the hell do you think you're going?”

Xania suddenly feels a massive jolt of pain and looks down at her arm, finding cracks forming.

“Well, I didn't expect to be able to handle this anyways.”

Xania materialises a massive scythe in each hand, both made up of pure divinity along with mana that's purely of dark magic.

“Haha, look at you. You seem so close yet so far to your prime.” The unknown man turns to look at Xania, a sword in each hand too as Xania attacks first, forcefully making herself stronger with divinity as more cracks form, easily overpowering the unknown man.

“You won't last much longer in that state.”

“I don't need to.”

“You’re so focused on revenge you don't care for the rest of your followers?” The unknown man smirks as Xania keeps attacking, bloodlust filling the entire dome up as she cuts off the head of the unknown man, looking down at his body as it suddenly starts turning into a different material, looking like a doll.

“Fake bastard.” Xania turns back to Anise, picking up her body as she tries to heal herself while forcing divinity onto her body.

For a moment, Anise's body starts breathing again as Xania gains hope before reluctantly stopping.

“Dammit. If I add more, even her body won't last due to the overload of divinity.”

Xania bites her fingernails nervously, deciding to freeze her body first as she keeps forcing divinity into her body albeit much slower, each time getting her to breathe again but not long enough for her to live again, the hole in her body still unable to be healed.

Xania keeps trying nonstop desperately as more cracks appear on her body, causing her to be in an excruciating amount of pain.

Xania keeps trying, forcing more healing despite being out of mana, causing more damage to be dealt to her body as she faints.

She wakes up a few hours later, finding Anise's body still beside her with the cracks on her body still there but no longer as painful.

She places her hand on Anise's chest, no longer feeling a heartbeat with her body no longer in any condition to force any further healing or divinity. She creates a small box of mana and divinity with most of the amount she recovered while fainted.

Looking back at her body, she teleports them both back to their bedroom, placing the box onto the bed as she looks over at the window.

“Guess I'm the winner by default huh?” Xania picks up the card game, turning back to Anise.

She climbs into the bed, hugging herself as she starts crying a bit, surprising herself too but she doesn't try to stop it, eventually falling asleep.

A few days later.

Davien enters the roomz finding Xania on the bed, doing nothing.

“Miss Xania, what is this I've heard about a funeral arrangement and why haven't you left your room? This isn't a funny jok…” Davien keeps walking closer as he notices Anise's body, preserved in perfect condition using ice magic while still in the box as his voice trails off, Xania glaring at him.

“Do you have anything of value you would like to say?”

“Does you not showing up for training count?”

“Get out of you have nothing to say.”

Davien sighs, reluctantly disappearing and reappearing with a scroll in his hand, throwing it at Xania who catches it angrily.

“What is this?”

“I didn't want to give it to you yet, but seeing your current state and well… miss Anise's, I figured this would be the best time.”

Xania opens up the scroll, a teleportation circle to a specific unspecified location shown.

“Elaborate.”

“It's said tha—”

“What makes you think I'm in a mood for your damn stories? Get to the point.” Xania interrupts.

“That scroll may be able to help with Miss Anise.”

“What?”

“But it’s not guaranteed it’s more of a… legend per se.”

“Then why haven't more people tried to get this and where the hell did you get this from?”

“Most people don’t have the amount of divinity you do also, I kept this in the past but couldn’t use this due to my complete lack of divinity. Say, how did you get so injured?”

“Fought somebody, they turned into a doll afterward though, didn’t even get a good look at their face,” Xania says as Davien starts to concentrate strongly, immediately disappearing, leaving the scroll behind as Xania looks at it.

“This magic circle looks different from how most look. Wait, this looks similar to the magic circle created by Anise, powered by divinity instead of mana.”

“Screw it, I can’t use this just yet, the key that bastard gave me last time led me to such a strange place. Who knows where this will lead me, for the time being, I’ll have to preserve you first.” Xania turns over to look at Anise’s body, adding another layer of mana over the block of ice she’s in, gripping the scroll in her hand tightly as she places it in her bracelet.

“First, I’ll have to deal with this. Sorry for taking this off of you while you're sleeping.” Xania takes the memory cube out of Anise’s bracelet, holding it tightly as she starts to use divinity, all of her original divinity recovered from the past few days of doing nothing with her total capacity for divinity much higher at the cost of the cracks on her body being not fully fixable, at least for the time being.
