Xania teleports back to her room where Anise is also at, holding Desaret in her hands due to its constant noisy complaints about not wanting to be left on the table or library like some “random book”.
“Hey Anise”
“My lord, can't you deal with this stupid thing instead?”
“Nope.”
“Why not?”
“It seems potentially useful.”
“How?”
“I said potentially because I don't have a current reason.”
“Your just a hoarded”
“So?”
Anise looks away, sighing as she looking back at Xania.
“Screw it my lord, I have something important to inform you of.”
“What is it?”
“The festival is coming.”
“Festival?”
*My lord! Pay attention when I'm teaching you! How do you not even know about this when I've repeated it so many times!”
“Well, it was boring.”
Anise claps her hands around Xania's cheeks, gazing intently into her eyes as she leans up.
“You.will.pay.attention.”
“Fine.”
Anise legs go of Xania's cheeks, still gazing intently into Xania's face, making Xania feel awkward.
“The festival is to celebrate the birthday of the first demon lord, so all demons and other races will fight on a stadium to see who's the strongest before fighting the demon lord.”
“Has anybody ever won?”
“Nope, only the demon lords.”
“What's the first demon lord's name? I feel like this festival being named ‘festival’ sounds terrible.”
“It's not terrible, just lame, but we done know the first demon lord's name, they never gave their name to anyone.”
“Why?”
“How should I know? They're dead already, if you want to know so bad, why don't you stand still and let me send you to them so you can personally go find out?*
“... I didn't pay attention to your lessons and you're expressing a want to kill me.”
“Yea, you gave me so much to do and yet you won't pay attention to your own lessons!”
“Well… maybe I'm ‘partially’ at fault.”
“ ‘Partially ’ only?!”
“Well… maybe, slightly more.”
“A lot more!”
“Fine, maybe it was a lot more than what I said, can you just get to the point?”
Anise gets even more annoyed at Xanias words but takes a deep breath and starts telling Xania the main thing she wanted to tell in the first place.
“So, as the demon lord, you'll have to attend this event.”
“Must I?”
“Yes!”
“Fine.”
“You'll also have to plan it”

“Fine, I delegate the task of making the stadium to you.”
“...”
“I'll get Sliver to deal with… nevermind, her body is too big and so is Graunter, Davien is busy with training, so you'll help get participants too.”
“...”
“Go get these two people, a dwarf called Grafer, a demon called Frander, they both helped with the housing.”
“Oh the housing? You mean the shitty houses without any proper aesthetics? A blacksmith house followed by a house which works as a personal training ground or maybe some other absurd things?”
“Yea.”
“...”
“The dwarf also doesn't talk, the only time he did was when he introduced himself.”
“So, my life is made harder?”
“Nah, the demon and dwarf still somehow communicate with the dwarf just grunting.”
“And you think that makes my life easier?”
“No, just thought you would buy it.”
“... I'm not stupid.”
“And I know that now.”
“That implies you thought I was…”
“Anise, shh, forget what you just heard and let me change the topic.”
“...”
Anise shoots high pressure water at Xania with Xania not bothering to shield herself, knowing Anise will splash her when she's awake or when she's asleep anyways.
“You done?”
Anise teleports away, leaving Anise in the room by herself.
“Guess so.”
Xania thinks of something to do, deciding to go take a walk by herself, fat from the cursed swamps to see some greenery.
She teleports away, enjoying the sight of the plants due to not having anything alive outside the shield around the castle.
She starts walking along the path, occasionally squatting to look at some flowers she likes along with some animals, some time later, she suddenly starts hearing the sound of horses approaching quickly.
“Doesn't this feel familiar?”
She stands there, watching the direction the horses are coming from and finds carriages being pulled along with wagons.
On the carriage closest to the front, she sees a familiar face.
“Isn't that… one of the bandits before? I think Anise let him go by accident and forgot about him.”
Xania prepares very condensed dark mana, preparing to send it at them without even using a proper spell as the bandit runs out, going to Xania in a panic.
“Wait! Demon! I'm not here to harm anyone!”
“So?”
“I'm not here to harm anyone, after I escaped I got lucky and started a trading business, I'm here with no ill intentions this time.”
“You tried to attack me before, why should I not just… kill you?”
“I can provide information, just provide us with protection when we pass by.”
“I'm not providing protection, but I won't harm you either, but that depends on the information you have to provide.”
“Sure, my information is from Lucival so demons can't easily obtain it.”
“Very well, what is it?”
“They're planning an attack on you demons, as revenge since your demon lord attacked them while they tried to protect the elves.”
“Huh?”
Xania starts thinking to herself.
“They haven't revealed to the public that I'm the demon lord, not Anise? And they even changed the story about how we were attacking the elves instead of them. Then again, Anise did say the civilians didn't know how bad the relationship between humans and elves really were.”
“Uh… demon?”
“Alright, I'll eat you live, but…”
Xania trails off, taking a step closer to in and placing mana with no attribute around his heart.
“You better return back here every once every 2 months to give me information, I'll know where you are at all times.
“Ok, so can I go now?”
“Sure.”
Xania teleports away, her mood to go walking having been ruined as she goes to the kitchen, making snacks as she brings them to her room to eat.
As she reaches her ro, she finds Anise there again.
“Anise, are you going to participate?”
“Yea, but not personally.”
“Huh?”
Anise uses magic teleporting the paladin in front of them who falls down immediately due to being in a sitting position before being teleported.
“Her?”
“Yea.”
The paladin looks around, confused and nervous due to them talking about her without her knowledge.
“So… how is she going to fight without her holy magic?”
“I'll remove the cuffs later.”
“Are you even allowed to do this?”
“Yea, you're allowed to bring slaves, as long as they're either weaker than you or were caught by you using any method.”
The paladin looks annoyed at being called a slave but Xania and Anise just ignore her.
“Sure then, not like I really cared, I was just curious.”
“That means you did care.”
“... Are you done with the setting up?”
“Yea, but not with finding the participants just yet.”
“How many are there currently?”
“1000.”
“That isn't enough?”
“It's usually 3000, or used to be.”
“So, how many are you aiming for?”
“Around 2000.”
*That's gonna be a pain… for you, I mean.”
“Shut up.”
“yep, got it”
“I'm gonna go to sleep, have fun.”
“... Hate you.”
Xania ignores Anise, going to sleep and waking up again in a familiar location.”
“The abyss? Why am I back here?”
Xania takes her scythe out, intending to break out easily.
She raises her scythe, infusing mana into it, sending a wave of mana out with it just flying away instead of making a crack in the air.
“Huh?”
She turns around, looking for a way out before realising the space isn't as dark as it should be, being able to see her own body with the ground below her being solid.
“Where is this?”
“my lord” A distant voice calls out, not belonging to Anise or anyone she knows.
*My lord, are you really going to do this? There's a high chance this will fail!”
“I'm well aware.” Another voice, alos as unfamiliar to her response.
“Then why…”
“Because I am still too weak, I need to become stronger, even if that means making myself suffer slightly.”
“My lord…” The voice trails off, not knowing what to say as Xania keeps looking for the source of the voice, which seems to be coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
A person in the distance so far away appears, making Xania squint her eyes to try making out their form but can only make them out smiling gently with some weird magic stopping Xania from finding out their identity.
Xania starts running towards them but suddenly wakes up in bed, a massive part of her castle destroyed due to the scythe attack.
“Oops?”
“But I wonder who that was, even if it was just a really vivid dream.”
Xania sighs, deciding that chasing imaginary people from her dreams wasn't important currently or ever.
