Xania eventually reaches the library with Anise, getting lost multiple times and not being able to ask anybody due to them all avoiding her due to her tail and wings and horns which she just noticed are smaller than Anise's.
Elves are biased.
No… I don't think that's the case.
Anise looks at Xania who has been leaking out small amounts of dark mana but sufficient to kill an unarmed person with some elves far behind purifying it with weird elven magic and a magic circle which Xania made sure to memorize.
My lord, you suck at directions.
Hey, it's my first time here.
Yea but they have signs everywhere.
I didn't notice them.
They're in the middle of each path.
…
Xania doesn't retort further, heading into the library after all her hard work of searching, heading for the magic section, ignoring all books on their history or culture much to Anise displeasure
My lord, just study a bit, it isn't that hard.
Anise, no.
Come on, you gotta study.
Yea, I will, eventually.
When's that?
I don't know?
Xania starts browsing the magic section, taking the first book that she felt any interest in with Anise having given up.
Xania checks the book she took, with it being named “purification magic for dummies”, having only chosen it due to needing to purify her own dark magic so her castle wouldn't be affected by the poison on the off chance she uses too much dark magic at once.
My lord, purification magic? Can't you just control and minimize the dark mana you use or use different magic?
Yea but, purification magic helps to clean things up too, so I can just wash myself without getting out of bed.
…
Anise goes away, looking for her own magic as Xania studies the purification magic, taking a couple hours despite it being the easiest she's ever seen.
Xania keeps learning different magic, such as the one Elvia and Ella used to fall slowly so she can fly easier, one to grow nature back, an improved healing spell, a spell to control plants to attack, a homing spell and a couple more, each taking ridiculously long compared to how fast she usually learns magic for how simple it is with even Anise being faster and rubbing it in Xania's face.
How is this taking so long!!! The concept is so easy but implementing it is so much harder!
My lord, I'm just a bigger genius than you.
If that's the case then why is my mana over 10 times your huh?
… Ok my lord, seriously though, it's probably because you're my lord so you can't.
That still feels somewhat like an insult…
No, elf magic is similar to holy magic though still vastly different so the more of a genius you are at dark magic, the harder it is for you to learn it.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
How annoying honestly.
You're still making progress though.
Yea, I know I know.
Though, there might be another reason.
What is it?
No clue.
Then what's your basis?
Not sure, just guessing, but you could just check the elves' history? They do study the demon lord quite a bit.
Why?
What do you mean why? To defeat them of course.
Oh yea, but isn't this just a way to get me to study?
Maybe?
I really hate you.
Love you too.
Xania sighs, heading over to the history section, letting her curiosity take over as she takes a random book and starts reading, titled “demon lord's strength”.
“A demon lord's strength can be vastly different, being weaker or stronger with only 3 known causes.”
Huh? This is… interesting?
“The first being the strength of the demons summoning them, the stronger or more skilled the demons, the more physically strong and more mana the demon lord contains. The second being the amount of resources used in the ritual. The last one being the number of demon lord's before them.”
The first two don't even apply, I was summoned on a stone platform or altar thingy and well, those 4 were pretty weak at first also.
Though I should just go ask Anise about the third one.
Anise, where are you?
Xania uses detection magic, teleporting to Xania immediately, annoying Anise with her sudden appearance due to not studying like Anise wanted her to.
Yes my lord? Anise uses a polite tone but Xania can hear her irritation seeping through her voice.
Question, what is this?
Xania shows Anise the book as she carefully reads before shrugging.
I can go check for any old records?
We have old records?
Obviously, while in the underworld, I went to collect sy and every old record, there in my bracelet now but there's too many, so I'll do it when we get back.
Fine, fine.
Xania reluctantly goes back to the history section, reading up on the books, getting bored after a while but too curious about why she sucks at elf magic to stop.
After a couple hours, she lies there, covered in books, not finding anything even using a reading spell she learned to somewhat speed up the process from the magic section before.
My lord, you okay? Anise walks to Xania, kneeling down and poking her cheek to get a reaction only for Xania to use her tail to smack Anise's hand away Making her annoyed.
My lord, you always do this when you give up, but I refuse to let you do this anymore!
…
Anise starts dragging Xania along with ease as Xania doesn't resist, using concentrated mana to put the books back anyhow.
She keeps dragging Xania, even continuing as they get out the library, attracting curious on-lookers as she eventually reaches a house and knocks on the door only for Ella to answer it before going back to hiding behind Elvia and the queen also inside as Anise drags her in with the three not really caring, due to Ella and Elvia already knowing Xania and informing the queen.
Bealla, take care of her. Anise says to the queen, having figured out her name from hearing the curious on-lookers talk about how they were “queen Bealla’s guest”..
My lord, you stay here, I'll go sort out the records so you stop being… whatever it is you're currently doing.
…
Anise teleports away, leaving Xania lying on the floor with Elvia and Ella not knowing what to do and the queen not wanting to offend Xania as she doesn't say or do anything to her.
After a while, the queen gives up on courtesy, kneeling beside Xania and poking before moving on to touch Xania's wings, tail and horn, something Xania still doesn't care about before suddenly reacting to something.
Hey queen?
Oh, demon lord, you're talking again.
Do elves have magic to spy?
Indeed, we use it to scout, but why?
Show me.
Asking the queen of a kingdom to teach you magic?
Just show me, I need to confirm something.
The queen shows her the magic as Xania counters it, making the air seem to look like a cracked glass for a moment before fixing itself and making the queen stumble back slightly.
Demon lord, could I ask the point of that?
Is anyone spying on us right now?
Who would dare spy on a queen?
Then what's that?
Xania points to a random corner in the room on the ceiling before using mana to counter a scouting spell, causing the area to crack and surprising all 3 elves.
Demon lord, how did you even know? Or copy the spell to the point you can counter it so easily?
Mana felt weird there and it was easy enough.
The queen teleports two guards next to her, with them looking at Xania on the floor but trying to hide it before paying attention back to the queen.
You two, increase the security around the kingdom, do not let anybody suspicious leave or enter without verifying their identities.
Yes your majesty!
The two run out, avoiding Xania who seems a bit confused.
Why? Isn't it a small problem? They didn't even get important information.
They did, they know you and your… friend, Anise, so they know your demons, making it clear we're not enemies.
Oh… that's a problem? I'll just get Anise to deal with it.
I don't believe she can do so.
That's because you haven't seen just how strong she is yet.
alright, but don't forget you need to protect us if anything goes wrong.
Yea, I got it.
Anise teleports back, holding a bunch of scrolls in her hands.
Uh… did I miss something? What's with the atmosphere.
