Chapter 30. Dragon slayer.

Chapter 30. Dragon slayer.

The next day, Xania sits back at her seat, over watching the stadium as the fights begin.

The first match starts with Graunter versus Sliver.

“Let the first match commence!” Anise shouts in place of Xania who has forgotten to do so

Sliver and Graunter, both on opposite sides of the stadium, start approaching each other.

Graunter attacks first, leaping into the air with his weapon onto Sliver who counters easily by shooting a beam of concentrated mana out of her mouth, sending Graunter flying backwards.

Graunter easily gets back up, charging at Sliver who also charges at him with a shield in front of her. As both of them clash together, the clash of mana and physical strength causes a bunch of mana to be expelled, flying everywhere due to a special shield magic that Sliver uses, surprising Xania.

“She put unused dense mana into her shield huh? I suppose that allows the shield to easily repair itself mid-fight without disturbing the user, though it seems Graunter’s attack can still partially pierce through.”

Xania shields the audience from the waves mana being expelled to prevent any unnecessary casualties.

Graunter and Sliver both keep fighting, either Sliver very concentrated on using non-attribute mana, the mana type with the most destruction but hardest to control, with high potential to hurt the user if they directly use it from their bodies instead of the atmosphere.

“My mana is enough so I can use as much dark mana and slowly collect mana from the air to use as non-attribute mana is too inefficient compared to using my own in a fight, what a shame.”

Eventually, Sliver gets a good hit in, shooting a constant beam of non-attribute mana at Graunter and changing to dark mana as she starts using her own reserve of mana.

The stadium ends up in ruins afterwards as Xania fixes it, teleporting them both out while healing them and announcing the winner.

“The winner of this match is Sliver, the naga!”

Half the crowd erupts in cheers while the other half looks defeated, most likely due to some of them putting a bet out, using all sorts of things as currency. Some of them were just disappointed that the side they chose didn't win.

“The next match shall begin!”

Davien and Vanice appear, Vanice holds her sword defensively, preparing holy magic to use and a second later, Davien disappears, confusing the entire crowd as he reappears behind Vanice. As soon as he reappears, Vanice gets sent flying backwards, clutching her stomach in pain, barely able to stay conscious from the attack as Davien just stares at her, expecting her to surrender.

“Can't, if I do so, Anise will really really screw me over.”

“In that case, I hope you didn't eat too much before coming to fight.”

“Huh what do you—”

Davien swings his sword, despite seemingly not even making contact with Vanice as she flies backwards into the entrance which Davien entered the stadium from, causing her to clutch her stomach again and vomiting slightly before fainting.

The crowd stares in silence for a moment before they all cheer due to nobody being on Vanice's side due to her being human despite being Anise's alleged slave.

“Anise, would you be able to block such a blow?”

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“No.”

“What a lack of confidence.”

“My lord, you can handle it with your body but I can guarantee you can't block it.”

“I suppose so.”

Xania teleports Vanice to herself and starts healing her, materialising a bed to place her on as she wakes up, still slightly in pain.

“Huh? I can't heal her completely?”

Anise tries to heal Vanice to get rid of her pain but also fails.

“I can't either my lord, though I doubt it's permanent.”

“Vanice, you get a break from Anise and some freedom.”

“My lord, what?!”

“What? She's just been suffering nonstop since she got caught, hasn't she?”

“You were the one who wanted to place her in a bracelet to torture her with fire before!”

“Yea but I wouldn't have left her in it besides, you're the reason she didn't surrender just now.”

Xania looks over to Vanice who just nods frantically, clearly wanting her to win this argument so she can have a break from Anise.

“My lord, are you going to force this?”

“No, it's your choice.”

Anise looks over at Vanice who's looking away, avoiding eye contact but clearly somewhat desperate for somewhat of a break and freedom before sighing.

“Fine, fine, you can do what you want, but only for a week. After the week ends, you still get to keep some freedom, but you have to listen to me again.”

Vanice quickly starts nodding, trying to hide her joy at this development.

Xania turns her attention back to the stadium where Davien is looking in her direction, waiting for the announcement.

“The winner of this match is Davien, the death knight!”

Xania teleports Davien out of the stadium, beside her as she looks over at them and talks softly.

“What did you do to her?”

Xania points towards Vanice who is still in pain though lesser and cowering behind Anise, peeking out nervously at Davien.

“I simply wanted to make her feel pain, pain enough to give up, though it seems I went a little far.”

“She's usually scared of Anise and she's currently hiding behind Anise from you, you definitely went a bit too far.”

“Demon lord, watch the human later, you could learn something from him.”

“Is he more skilled than you are?”

“No, but his skill level is closer to yours than mine is, so you could probably understand more.”

“Sure, dear ‘teacher’ of mine.”

Xania turns back to the stadium, teleporting Davien away.

“The next match will now begin!”

Dragrove enters the stadium followed by the human who Xania actually looks properly this time instead of mostly ignoring him.

“What a distinctive appearance, he looks around his mid 30s, red haired and is carrying greatswords in both hands.”

“My lord, those weapons are crafted from dragons.”

“So?”

“So Dragrove is most likely screwed since he is probably a dragon slayer, though I can't guarantee it.”

“A dragon slayer huh? How interesting, I suppose demons aren't friendly towards them.”

“Indeed my lord, how did you know? Have you been studying?”

“Not at all, I just feel a slight, a very slight sense of animosity towards him.”

Everybody in the stadium feels a slight shivery as Xania releases her bloodlust, something she hasn't done before or even knew existed.

“My lord, calm down!”

“Huh? Oh, sorry, what happened?”

“You wanted to kill the human and your bloodlust was released.”

“But I've killed before and it didn't happen?”

“That's because the few times you fought so far were not intense enough. The first time you saved us, you just killed them like insects and didn't care, me and the other 3 fought the bandits. The situation where you protected the elves and killed the humans was out of satisfaction, not purely for the sake of killing.”

“I suppose so, I felt a slight bit of anger when I saw the humans at first, but it's usually very less and I can control it compared to this guy.”

“They are the so called protectors of justice and they may not be able to kill a demon lord but are one of the reasons why the demons haven't won so far.”

Xania takes a deep breath, trying to calm down with the dragon slayer not reacting, having mostly expected this already. Xania manages to control herself again with the whole stadium in silence due to Xania’s sudden intense bloodlust.

“I surrender.” A sudden voice breaks the silence, causing everybody to turn to the source, finding Dragrove to be the cause.

“very well.”

“You aren't going to ask why?”

“Due to the… incident with my lord that just occured, I believe there is no need to confirm the identity of this man.” Anise answers for Xania, not wanting the situation to worsen.

“The winner of this match is… is… uh…”

“Anise, what's his name?” Xania whispers to Anise but the whole situation with the dragon slayer's name being obvious.

“Covier, demon lord.” The Dragon slayer answers for Anise.

“Very well, the winner of this match is Covier!”

Xania teleports them out of the stadium.

“The second half of the match will begin the next day for our participants to recover and rest.”

Xania teleports back to her bed with Anise following behind.

“My lord, calm down.”

Anise looks over with Xania who is sitting on the bed, who despite having no changes with her facial expressions is releasing a ridiculous amount of bloodlust.

“I don't even get paid to do this, why do I have to deal with this…”
