Chapter 29.

After being forced to memorise what to do and say for hours by Anise, Xania walks back to her bed, wanting to sleep as she looks out the window, the sight of her sun rising in front of her.

“Great…”

“My lord, it seems it's morning now so let's go practice again alright?”

Anise locks the door behind herself, pulling out the scripts made for Xania.

“I refuse!!”

Anise starts making Xania sit down, memorising the script, tying her tail to herself due to being unable to tie her tail to anything heavy enough to stop her from moving.

An hour later, Xania sits on her seat, watching over the entire stadium.

“Isn't this slightly excessive?”

“Not at all my lord, watching over the stadium is something every demon lord has done.”

“No.. I mean the seat.”

Xania looks at the seat, as big as a throne, which is too big for her, embedded with many valuable gems along with the throne itself being gold.

“Well, it fits me perfectly, so the size isn't a problem.”

“It's not the size! It's the fact that everything looks dark due to the shield made of dark mana and the throne basically shining! And I guess maybe a bit of the size”

“My lord, it's because even though I'm taller and bigger than you, even if it isn't too much… now that I think about it, you're. not only the first female and strongest demon lord, you're also the smallest.” Anise teases Xania as Xania gets annoyed but doesn't argue back due to already accepting it.

Xania uses her magic to make the throne disappear, replacing it with one that's nearly pitch black in colour, made of the same material as her scythe but without the abyss's properties.

“Emo.”

Xania ignores Anise's comment as Anise looks over at her.

“My lord?”

“...”

“My lord? Hello?”

“...”

“Are you seriously gonna sulk because I made fun of your height and size?”

“...”

“This is a joke.”

Xania keeps ignoring as the stadium starts getting filled up with spectators and participants, demons and other races alike.

As the time for the festival starts, Xania stands up, using magic to amplify her voice before starting her speech.

“Everybody, this is the 199th festival, as per the rules, anybody who breaks them will face immediate execution by me for ruining this sacred festival. Now, the festival will begin!”

Xania goes back to sit down as the crowd erupts with impatient shouting.

“My lord, you cut the speech by more than half.”

“...”

“Fine, ignore me, childish”

As the event begins, the stadium gets split into 16 areas, each with an equal number of people as the people start shouting louder, betting on which corner will win.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

“Anise, wasn't it a 1v1?”

“Oh so now you wanna talk again huh?”

“...”

“The winner of each area will fight the winner of the other areas.”

“Oh, nice.” xania watches as it starts, the areas with Graunter, Sliver and Davien ending first followed by Dragrove then the paladin girl with the rest of the areas just being others beating each other up.

Huh? Xania notices another area already completed, seeing a human guy walking over the bodies of many demons who have just fainted instead of dying due to Xania.

“Humans are allowed in?”

“Yes, but they obviously aren't very welcomed.”

As soon as he wins, Xania starts hearing a bunch of insults directed towards the human.

“Wow, really really not welcomed.”

“Yea, we've been at war with each other for generations upon generations, what did you expect?”

“True.”

Xania keeps watching, realising that the other areas are making near to no progress due to a healing spell albeit weak, being casted over the stadium at all times to prevent death.

“Oh, now I see why this'll take a while.”

Xania sighs, resting her head on her arm on the side of her chair.

“My lord, wanna play a game?”

*Huh?”

“Card game.”

“What's that?”

“It's a yes or no, you in or out?”

*Sure?*

“Ever heard of UNO?”

*Nope.”

“Well, best of luck.”

An hour after playing and after Anise explains the game, Xania has already resorted to trying to cheat due to Anise somehow winning nonstop. After even longer, Xania tries to flip the table away but Anise stops the table from playing with magic.

“Again!”

“Saw loser.”

“Not true!”

“My lord, win just once against me and I'll let you go rest, leaving a clone here.”

“You better remember that!”

“Of course.”

Another hour later, the participants who are still fighting start to get some wounds from the magic not being able to keep up completely as Xania rage quits.

“My lord, another round?”

“I refuse to believe that you aren't cheating!”

“I'm just better than you.”

“Fine, but this'll be the last round.”

“Sure.”

As they play again, Xania starts feeling some mana usage behind her, ignoring it as the stadium is behind her, thinking it's the participants doing.

After a while more, the mana usage doesn't decrease or increase, confusing her as she focuses slightly more on it, finding a scouting spell linked to Anise.

“Hey! You cheater!”

“My lord, it's only cheating if you're caught.”

“What's with that logic?!”

“It's the same as ‘it's only illegal if you get caught.’ but out of my generosity, I'll let you go since you clearly lack patience compared to normal demons.”

Xania quickly creates a clone using illusion magic, teleporting away instantly as soon as she hears Anise say that.

“Freedom! Woohoo!”

Xania immediately goes to sleep after her really short celebration.

A couple days later, they finish beating each other up with most of the winning demons quitting, confusing Xania.

“My lord, most of them came here just to win for the sake of it, but they aren't stupid enough to mess with the others. Besides, winning against a couple hundred demons is already good enough for them.”

“I feel like due to the chaos, luck was a pretty big factor in this.”

“Small details, if you're strong enough like those who won quick enough luck doesn't matter.”

“Now that I think about it, why didn't that paladin get a bunch of hate?”

“I publicized the fact she was my slave, though I don't think she appreciated that.”

“...”

Anise teleports the paladin beside her suddenly while she was in the midst of eating. She takes a moment to look around beside slowly moving away from Anise as Anise wraps her tail around the paladin's waist, stopping her.

“Why did you bring her here?”

“Why not?”

“You're not answering my question.”

“I don't feel like answering your question.”

“Vanice, tell her to shut up.” Anise tells the paladin as glances over at Xania who's looking straight at her, daring her to do so.

Vanice glances back and forth, not knowing who to piss off instead.

“Vanice, don't you remember what I'll do to you if you don't?” Anise wraps her arm around the back if Vanice’s neck.

Vanice freezes up for a moment before looking over nervously at Xania.

“Demon lord, shut up!”

“Wow, she actually did it, Anise, did’nt you say you wouldnt torture her?”

“Well… not physically.”

“Then what did you do?”

“Oh, nothing much, I simply tied her to the bed and… nevermind.”

“Anise, what do you mean nevermind? For your information, I do know what you're talking about.”

“Oh? What is it then?”

“Sleeping together.”

“... Look, if it was someone else, I would say they got pretty damn close, but since it's you, could you elaborate?”

“Sure? Like just sleeping together, side by side?”

“... Yea, that's what I did.”

“See? I knew it.”

“Keep telling yourself that.”

“What?”

“What?”

“I heard you say something.”

“You must've misheard.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

“Guess I'm really hearing things, tomorrow is gonna be the big flashy fights.”

“Indeed my lord, so you definitely have to be present to heal due to the fact that the weak healing spell is definitely not going to suffice.”

“Fine, I guess it'll be interesting to watch anyway.”

Xania lies down on the bed with Anise following after, the paladin looking at them.

“Hey… what do I do?”

“Ask Anise.”

“Sleep beside me, away from my lord.”

Vanice gets onto the bed, moving as close to the edge as possible to avoid Anise, causing her to just use her tail to pull her back.
