Teaching an old God new tricks...

Mythra returned to her temple she could feel the new connections forming around her. With her at the head of three other Gods in her newly formed pantheon she could provide a boon to her champion. A gate to a dungeon realm, it would be very basic still. If she had just one more God to provide their support, it would have been a scalable dungeon. The kind that had multiple levels, resetting daily. But most of the remaining Gods attached to this world had champions of their own to worry about.

It was a huge windfall to get Lord Viper to help, that had boosted her power base. She was soon going to have enough power accumulating to grant blessings on others. So they could start preaching to the masses. The faith provided would be minimal at first. But like in the past, you provide for your God, they provide for you. Just as she had planned on pulling a certain druid into her realm, she felt a presence approaching.

A dark circle weeping black smoke formed, from out of that circle. A large man in animal furs with a steel helm rose up. Mythra was taken aback, she had no idea what Vidar would want with her. She subtlety prepared some defensive wards, just in case.

Vidar's cold gaze took in her temple. His eyebrows rose slightly at the shrines statue at its center. Showing the multi-color glow of the newly formed pantheon. He silently turned to Mythra, than abrupty fell to one knee. He looked to Mythra saying. “I beg a boon of you mistress. My champion has fallen, my only disciple has broken her pact. I wish to join your pantheon so I might have the time necessary to help, or break my fallen.”

Silently Mythra stared back, internally she was having mixed feelings. On one hand a God of vengeance would be a strange mix to add to her pantheon. It already had the emotions of love, and fertility. With the powers of poison, medicine, forging, and now nature. What would combining vengeance do to it? In simple terms it could offset some of the milder emotions. On the other hand having the fourth to fix a stable base to her pantheon could be a life saver for her own champion. The cold fear of losing him. If she lost him, she would have to do as Vidar is doing now. Prostrating herself before another God begging for a slip of power, just to survive. Mythra shivered slightly at that thought.

Mythra finally spoke. “I will allow this boon, I have none who could be a disciple for you. But if one arrives with the calling I shall send him to you. Will this suffice?”

Vidar bowed formally then stood. He turned to the shrine, a wisp of power flowed from him into the forming pantheon. He turned back to Mythra bowing again. He then spoke. “Now I must give you a warning. Ares has taken all of ancient Greece. He has moved forces to fortress Europa destroying everything in his path. I chose a champion in Italia in the hopes of closing it off from that pantheon early. It was a poor choice. My fallen disciple has had her mind broken by Legion. He is close to your champion. He must prepare.”

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Mythra took an extra few seconds to digest all of this new alarming information. “Who is Legion serving?” Mythra asked. Vidar was silent a moment, than replied. “I know not, but it is still early days. He does not yet control a beacon. So his numbers will be low still.” Vidar looked down pensivley for a few seconds than returned his gaze to Mythra. “What would you have me do while I gather enough power to form a new bond?” Mythra smirked replying. “I have just the thing for a God of vengeance to do. With you joining me, I have enough power to gift my champion an instanced dungeon. I would have you design it. His companions are all level ten at this time. So make sure it is winnable, but harsh enough they learn well. You will need to be on your toes with this group. They have spent years in mock battles. Fighting literal millions of monsters. Now they must learn to do it for real.”

Vidar's face made a strange change. Never had Mythra seen him smile before. It was scary! “Hephaestus shall help them forge their metals. I shall forge their fighting skills, and temper their minds. It will be good to fight again.” Vidar said. He turned walking a few steps, than fell into a black smoky portal.

Mythra sighed then turned her attention to a druid who would need a helping hand. As she felt Katie’s hand touch upon the pedestal, Mythra teleported her to this temple. Katie turned around dizzily until she saw Mythra. She grimaced saying. “Oh it’s just you. I was hoping for some antlered forest nymph, or some humongous talking bear. But no I get the anime girl.”

Mythra laughed in a surprisingly un-humorous tone. “Oh yes I almost forgot about your insults earlier.” Mythra's voice started out happy sounding, but quickly turned dark. “Thank you for reminding me.” Mythra said as her form grew in size. The octave of her voice booming out at the end. She now towered five hundred feet tall looking down at the speck who had dared to say such hurtful things to her. She didn’t plan to hurt Katie, just put a bit of fear in her.

With a touch of power she lifted Katie into the air to better look her in the eye. Her voice booming out so loud it would have broken mountains. “Do I look like a dirty sex doll now mortal?”

Katie was not having a good day all of a sudden. She gets whisked away to some wierd adobe hut surrounded by flowers. The flowers were nice, the company not so much. Than the crazy bitch had gone all jolly green giant on her. To say she wasn’t freaking out would be a lie. But she had seen enough game storyline posturing to see this for what it was. A power play, well two could play that game.

She forced a bored look onto her face saying in as monotone a tone as possible. “Oh no her body has grown as big as her ego. Whatever shall I do? Oh please someone help me. Fe fi fo fum here is trying to scare me.” Katie ratcheted up the scorn a notch hoping it wouldn’t go drastically wrong. “Oh come off it bitch, you need us more than we need you.” Mythra’s mind went blank. Was this really happening?
